Thanks for the kinds thoughts. I wasn't scared about the mastectomy surgery which is weird. Maybe I was in shock. And the all the out patient surgeries. But this one has ne a little scared. So I am trying to think positive and trying to get the house really clean. Mark and I have filled the freezer by cooking a lot of food. I guess I am just doing a lot o stuff that is keeping me busy so I dont have to think about it.

Thanks for all the good vibes.

RS--that made me chuckle!
Samantha---my thoughts are with you. From the little I've read, I'm so glad you have a good guy on your side (I understand things haven't been easy for him, either) and lots of caring friends.

LOL. Yes, I do hope he is sober....do I have to be??? I am on my way to the hospital and my stomach is in knots. I talked to someone who had this surgery and she said after 2-3 weeks she started to think she was going to live again once all the bottles and tubes came out. She said at about 3 months, she could stand straight up and not be bent over. And at 6 months, she could get out of a chair ...straight up...with no help. Yeah.

Mark will send an update tonight. Hope it is good news

No margaritas, sweetie. You'll be anesthetized soon enough!

Hmm, do you think in three months I'll be able to stand up straight or walk properly after sitting a spell without first shaking the kinks out of my legs?

(It would take a miracle. Miracle Max)

Much love,

Rainsong

Hi,

Samantha's breast re-reconstruction surgery went well today. The surgeon said it would be about 4 to 5 hours and it was almost exactly 4 hours and he said all went well. She was in recovery a little over 2 hours to get the pain under control. She said she wanted the license of the truck that ran over her. Now starts the long slow road to recovery.

Take care, Mark

Samantha is doing as well as one could imagine with all kinds of drains, IVs, and lots of bandages all over. They have been able to control the pain and are aggressively trying to keep her relatively comfortable. She had a little to eat tonight and was able to take a very short walk.

That is all for tonight, Mark

Thanks Mark very much for the updates!!

Oh Sammie. I have no words for this. I just saw this thread tonight. It has both broke my heart and inspired me. You are amazing and your hubby is second to none. So many people will be thinking of you in the days to come and looking forward to your next post to find out how you're doing. You are so BRAVE. And exceptional for sharing your painful, emotional, and personal journey with all of us. I so very hope for you a much kinder recovery than the last. You offered me support and advice on another thread just a week ago and I had no idea what you were dealing with. You truly are an amazing woman.

Samantha may be coming home today (Saturday). Friday her IV was taken out and she was getting up and walking around with very little help. She may have several drains in to let internal blood escape during the healing process. We will see if her doc gives the final ok today.

Mark

Oh my gosh, I am over whelmed at the suppport from fellow stampers who I have never met. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I AM HOME from the hospital. It's has and is still taking a lot of time to fine a comfortabel spot. Mark is going to count y stitches tomorrow but we are guess at about 300-400 of them. I look like a road map. But I don't care and neither does Mark. I married the nicest guy in the world.

Anyway, I really hurt and I have 3 choices of places to sleep tonight. Mark brought pull out couch into the family room and has it all made uip for me THen I have my recliner that so far is number 1. Then there is the bed of course but it is so painful to try and lay flat. He said where ever I sleep, he will too. I have a feeling we will both be sleeping in the family room in our recliners.

I have one drain and bulb still attavhed so I have to measure the output of blood like I did with when I had the mastectomy. What a great side affect og moving abdomen and the attachments to them that there is a tumy tuck. I darn near dried when I saw it. My belly fat is gone. Even Mark saidI looked great. But he lovesd me anyway I was.

I do have one tear where the DR took out a tube from a stick that has opened up about a 1/4 inch tear. I will baby it until Monday and give a call. I think it just have to heal itself from the inside out. Hopefully that is all that will tear.

I amy write more details tomorrow if I get enough energy and pain meds taken to kill thre pain for a few minutes but you all have no idea how you have been a partner in my healing.

I love you all.

Yeah Samantha! It sounds like your recovery is off to a stellar start. And thank you so much Mark for keeping us updated.

Sammie take your pain meds! There is nothing to be gained by trying to tough it out. If the pain takes over, it is so much harder to get it under control. Your recovery will be quicker/easier if you stay on top of the pain. Pain management is a GOOD thing!

May we have an address to send random bits of encouragement to? Again, Im fairly new to this thread, so if an address is already common knowledge would someone please PM it to me?

The dual recliner sleep arrangement sounds heavenly. Should work well for you, and come on what hubby isnt happy falling asleep in his recliner? With his wifes blessing!

Sammie,
So glad to hear you're home and have the energy to sit at the computer for a few minutes! An address PM'd would be a good thing. You would get a LOT of happy mail! It would be like being in a card swap and you didn't have to submit, only receive.

Take care.

I will PM you with my address. Thank you.
I am really trying to stay on top of the pain and taking pain meds have become a normal thing for me. I hate the side affects, but they do a person good when needed.
