Glad that Keith got home and that Krista was able to get out of your driveway too. So glad not to be having to deal with that white stuff.

So, GF said that vet said the dog would perk back up in 3 days...so far she hasn't. She said that she wants to put the dog down. Her quality of life isn't there. But, her daughters don't want her to do it until after Christmas. So, I told her that I would go with her today if that's what she wanted to do. Since I haven't heard from GF...I'm thinking that they are waiting. Or maybe the dog did perk up. I'll give GF a call and check on how things are going. Such a sad thing to have to deal with at this time of the year - just saying that there's not a good time for this whether before or after Christmas, but I can understand wanting to have their dog with them for one last holiday as a family.

I bought a 1/2 dozen Cinnabons on my way home from Nashville last month. WAY TOO MUCH cinnamon for me. I still have 2 in the freezer I think Bob and I will be splitting each one of them.
Oh, really. We always drizzled sugar icing on them.

It is so icy out there ...I knew as fast as the temps dropped and the winds started up It would be like this ... I hope sun shine today and tomorrow let the ice melt work...Sunday Sandy and Kayle are coming up and I sure do not want Kayle to fall in her condition

Poor Daisy just slides off the porch ~ oh and all three kitties are in the breezeway...Nellie finally came to the door earlier today
Glad that the power came back on. Would not be good to be without heat with the weather so cold.

I'm so glad that my little kitty babies are not out in the cold this year.

I guess so!!! Doggie doors are not my friend; ya know other animals can get in that way unless you have a fenced yard. hmmm, you can't lock or alarm a doggie door either, can you?

I still hadn't heard from him by the time I was falling asleep to the White House Christmas Special at 9 p.m. I texted him I was falling asleep and going to bed. NORMALLY he texts me back to say goodnight. By10:45, as I lay awake, he hasn't texted me back. So I text him.... no reply. So I call and get his voicemail...he should have been off shift and able to answer, if not talk long.

So as I lay there worrying (knowing about the ice and stuff up in Chicago), he calls me back. He had left his phone in the wheel house and why he didn't answer. They just brought it down to him in the bunk room. And he hadn't texted me back because....

I was going to sleep and he didn't want to disturb me!

I could have strangled him.
Oh yes. He is usually pretty punctual about calling you. Sorry he worried you, but glad that he was okay.

I don't really need to add a new book to my collection LOL I need to get rid of a few. I got rid of 3 big boxes before we moved and I still have more than I need. One of my many goals for 2013 is to downsize - again LOL

I'm planning on doing some on-line searches next week. I did secure the use of padded folding chairs this morning from the owner at Memories Sweet Shoppe. She said we could use her facility or she could cater out here. But the idea is to NOT spend that kind of money and to give them a 'home away from home' environment. They spend so much of their trip in church basements or restaurants, I thought this would be a nice change for them.

Sorry your story on Steven didn't make it. Do you think they'll run that at a different time. I hope that you can get them to print it.
We found out the picture came from someone at the bank so it very well could have been one of the publicity shots I gave Katie.

She is hoping to run Steven's story next week (26th) as this week's edition was full of school/ church concerts. So if all goes well, I'll have 3 stories plus my column in the paper on the 26th Geez!

I am sure that it would be more welcomeing to be in a home. I also think that they would enjoy 'local' food. Esp things that they would not be able to taste at home. When we had our Japanese girls visit we staged a Thanksgiving meal for them. They were thrilled. Maybe something like that would be apprecatied, it's truely All American & let's face it...an easy, cheap(er) meal.

okay... I've caught up. I'm off to put turkey pot pies in the oven then get a shower. I have some computer work to do this afternoon. I'll check in later.

Hope your trip into town went well, Soni. Bet you're ready for meds and rest.

My moms baby sister ( My Aunt Tootie ) had polio and my grand mothers sister raised her ~ my grandmother cleaned for a living... my mom and her one sister Millie ( my godmother ) went to Ohio, and started their lives there , waitressing which led to their running of a dining room and catering business

I am not sure why mom did not go back to school, It was my dad that taught me my education was important ...I pushed through high school for him many a day it would have have been easier to just quit ...

Then when I was nine I believe it was ~ I got to see my grandmother and grandfather remarried... they were divorced for 25 years before they found each other again ...

Well I did not go with Krista, the time kept ticking by, and the longer I went without my medicine the worse I felt...I finally just took my medicine and curled up in my chair..~I called Sandy and told her I was sorry but I did not think her and Kayle should come tomorrow , the last thing either of them needs is to get sick ...

I wore down so fast this morning , I knew I would not make it out all afternoon, and Tammy called and was going to go meet Krista, so I just told them to go enjoy some sister time...I was not up to a fun day ...

I woke up a bit ago, and fixed some milk toast, I also did a few dishes and them mopped my messy / dirty floor ...
I am ready for more medicine and my chair again...

I knew the part about grandma Tiny and Aunt Tootie. Never knew the part about your grandparents.

Sounds like rest and meds is what you need. Yes, I agree. Kayle especially doesn't need to catch something right now.

Well, Gram was from Austria but came here when she was 16. I think the area she lived in was very ethic, Polish, German, Slavic so it could be any of the above. I just remember grinding the walnuts fine & adding egg whites and sugar for the filling...

I'll keep digging.
I found a recipe that called for using a walnut on top.

Okay.. in putting together my address list for the card file and digging out SCS addresses, I wound up clearing out my PM folders LOL No more SENT and down to 23 from 108 saved in the In Box. Now if I could just fine-tune the rest of my email boxes that quick. hehe

Okay... Addresses are done so far. 86 cards needed mailing next year. Plus about 25 for hand delivery at art meetings. I've not done the Business Christmas card list. Just remembered that one. Those will be a bit more formal than the rest.

Another long and quiet day spent in my chair... With a very few minutes up out of it ~ usually to get some thing to drink, eat or otherwise...
Krista was back about 5 :30 I think ~ with more medicine for me and a snack I think ~ I sure am glad I did not try to go, I never would have made it ... Sad to say , I had seen all of the Hallmark movies playing today

I am off to bed with hopes of feeling much better when I wake up! I need to get tradition gifts wrapped , maybe delivered, and I need to get to Peoria ... Then home for lots more wrapping ...I tried today but my head was pounding too bad

I did get a few more cards today. from Lois, Karen. Debby B and Sue Sturdevant... along with some images I had asked for and some sweet snowmen too and she mounted 2 stamps I bought at Archivers over a year ago and a surprise !
She sent me the bird punch How sweet was that ??

Shell, what are you plans for this weekend? Does Jared get to come home for Christmas?
We were suppose to go to a family party today (Mark's mom's family), but a family member of the host died this week. The party was canceled, and while I hurt for that family member, I am SOOOOOOOOO glad we didn't have to go today. Mark felt the same way.

We stayed home and got stuff done today. It was a great day. And, after the last two that I've had, I needed a good day at home.

Tomorrow, we have church and are getting together with Becky and her family. My mom is sick, so we'll see how that goes. It's going to be at Mom's house.

He should be home ... soon. I'm looking forward to having my family together this year for Christmas.

I have a friend in VT that gets TONS of snow and absolutely loves it. That's an unusual case, but there *are* some out there.

Thank you. I will tell her.

Yes, she knows. He mentioned it while he was here last time. No way to keep it from her after that. He's driving home this time, so we don't have to pick him up from the airport.
