I would think that if the afghans were made that long ago, that they are probably wool yarn. Not sure when synthetic yarn started to be manufactured.

It is nice to have a break especially since I have a boatload of cards to make. PSC is doing a birthday/anniversary celebration next week starting on Oct 10 and I have 4 cards to make for it. At first they were all going to be posted on the same day, but now it's one a day for 4 days. We were able to sign up for as many as we wanted to do and I decided to do all 4. What was I thinking????? But they are all good sentiment cards that I need to have so should be good.

I did work on the monthly challenge kits last night and have them just about ready to go. When I was just about done, I thought of one more thing that I wanted to include, so I'll finish them up tonight.

As far as I know it's coming along fine. I talked to her about 10 days ago. I'm more concerned about what she is doing. I want her to find her place in the world now that the girls are just about grown and gone from the house. Amanda will only be home for 2 more years and Lisa needs to have her own outlet then.

Too bad it is a constant reminder, but then again if you didn't have to look at it, you might just leave it all there. This way you do get a little bit done.

yeah for a free weekend! Other than the auction tomorrow morning, I'm home all weekend. It's suppose to rain so a good day to hide in the basement and work on cards.

Woke up with a sinus headache this morning and a beautiful day I really don't want to waste. I think I'll start fire starters today and get those 2 things out of the garden shed. While they're setting up, I can get some writing done. Maybe if I go outside I'll be less inclined to go back to bed hehe

I am not sure what yarn they were made of, but we used to wask my grandmas afghans by putting them in the bath tub, cool water then squeezed out what we could and let then stay there over night before laying outside on a covered picnic table to finish drying ...

Good Morning...
at least the sun shine is back, I thought it was supposed to rain huh?

I want to see huh Krista feels , and I may run to either the store in Brimfield they have sugar $1.99 a bag, that is a really good deal...and with Ali wanting to bake it is rime to stock up or I may go on in to Peoria... there are a couple of things I need to do

Ah it says rain later today and temps dropping tomorrow, the high to be in the mid 50's I think today is the better day to go run errands plus the kids are out of school tomorrow

We have sunshine and clear skies today. Suppose to change by this evening and rain tomorrow - just in time to go stand out in it at the auction. If I didn't NEED that portable water tank. ::: sigh :::

I'm taking advantage of today and putting fire starters to set. The TP rolls are all cut. Just need to stuff them with dryer lint, line them up on the covered picnic table and fill with melted wax. They can cure while I get back to writing. 2 projects I need to do today.

morning...
We are suppose to have a high Saturday of 59*! Gosh...not sure how to act! It is suppose to be 90* today! Sure messes up what I planned to wear.....now, to find jeans! At least I have a little time!

I was suppose to have a chiropractic appt...but, that was canceled. He isn't in the office. They said I could come in tomorrow...but, already had plans. So, I'll wait until next week. Which reminds me...need to change the calender by the phone to October...duh! I guess I was just trying October out before switching the calender!

I guess I had better get my day started....might head over to WM and pick up the things I didn't get yesterday. We are seeing Jack's cousin for a late lunch/early dinner today. That will be good to see her and the family. It's nice they get up here to see son. He is on the fire dept now.

The more I think about it, the surer I am that it's wool. They are not soft & fuzzy at all but have worn like iron! They still look in great shape. Because it's so humid now, I'll just give them a shake & refold them and box them back up. Back into the dark they go...for another 50 years!

My blog is updated with the requested Gelato technique, I have the bed stripped, sheets/ pillows on the line. I'm finally ready to head outside to work on the fire starters. Though the wind ha picked up so not sure how this is going to work. May need that wax ready to poor just as soon as I sit them down on the table hehe. Will check in tonight, weather permitting.

Soni & Suzy thank you for the birthday cards!!! Suzy, I just love that pinwheel tech, thanks for the instructions. Those colors work so well together too...makes me really want to make cards again. Soni, such a sweet image and such sweet works inside. Your color choice makes me think about fall...even tho it is still in the 90s here. Thanks, Girls!

When I made that card , I knew it was going to you... I guess those colors and that little guy just reminded me of you and your "likes" Sorry it was late : )

You'll be lucky if rain is all you get.
I just watched the weather forecast on the noon news (I recorded it hehe)...
With the cold front moving through, there's a chance some of the rain this weekend could be a bit more solid and in pretty lacy shapes

It could cool off any time here so I can finish up outside comfortably. The greenhouse, with the window open says 110 - yowsa! We actually hit 80 degrees today. Although there's a good breeze blowing, it's really toasty out in the sun... which is of course where Bob left the picnic table I need to be working on ::: sigh :::

I've exhausted my dryer lint supply. I'll have a total # of fire starters later. But I have made up all I can until I do more laundry. So probably another nice day sometime in Nov.

King came out of the lily bed to see what I was doing. I'm going to have to find a place to relocate his/ her bed when we build the studio. The bed gets full sun which I think makes a nice incubator for eggs in the summer time. I'm thinking a 1/2 moon bed on the south end of the studio below my window. I'll never have to walk there and she'll get plenty of sun. I'm also going to suggest they build the deck over the existing slab so we do not disturb that habitat that she's used to, though I'm not sure she really fits under there any more hehe.

according to the weather, our temps tomorrow should be about 30+ degrees cooler than today. Find by me. Just wish it didn't have to rain, too.

I do know I can't sleep in tomorrow morning. I need to get in town to breakfast before the auction starts at 10. Hoping they do my water tank early so I can get home and play.

Of course it will be cold and possibly rainy...Lisa sets up tomorrow for Spoon River Drive... it never fails but no rain for sat or sun at this point, so that is good temps in 50's and maybe near 60...so truthfully that should be good,
if it is too warm like 70's and 80's ...people do not buy... weird, I guess they need to "feel" Autumn to want to decorate for fall and winter...

I need to talk to Tammy to see if I can be of help this weekend with Faith so I can make plans with Sue to go on the drive...we both want to go to Farmington, which is where Lisa is set up. and a couple of other spots too... Either day is fine with Sue... If I have Faith or we do not go on Saturday ,
I want to make cards, for Nat'l cad making day so maybe tomorrow I can gather things to work with and get some ideas ready, like stamps, layouts, embellishments, paper
so then maybe I can just wake up Satturday morning and be full of ideas... lol

Were in the 80s through Saturday. Suppose to cool off to the upper 60s on Sunday. I'm home until Sunday, so I don't really care.

Great ride today. I went a full 2 laps around the ring cantering with Chance. I'm thrilled that I was able to keep him going for both laps. Jaydin did awesome with her lesson. We got more information on her show, and Shelly worked her hard on what events she'll be doing. Jaydin is very excited about it.

Oh man... you mean today is only Thursday? Crumb! LOL Well, I guess I'll go to the auction on Sat when the auctioneer will actually be there. Which means I should be able to write all day tomorrow. I already know what I'm working on Saturday and things are gathered.

Project:
Combine all the individual swap envelopes with ValuCS scraps to create my Birthday/ anniversary cards for 2013.

Now to see how it actually works
