Good morning Quackers. Looks like NO took the hit from Isaac last night. Sounds like power outages are the worst events. Reliant Energy trucks are on their way to help restore power over there.

I am so glad to hear the news about Isaac...it could have been so much worse... That is one of the biggest reasons I would not move to Florida, hearing all of the stories from my brothers is scary enough

I it good to know that there is no severe damage in any of the areas

good morning, it is a lazy morning here...expecting temps up in the 90's...
I have NO big plans for the day....I may head up to the library later, that is about it ...

I went to bed about 10:30,fairly tired, and I slept pretty good, but I still seem to be tired today

I am sure I can find a few things around here that needs done...

Well, severe damage is a matter of perspective. They are being pounded with rain and have been all night since about 6 PM last night. They said on the news this morning that the storm actually made landfall twice and was still sitting off the coast early this morning. It is moving so slowly that it is just dumping tons of rain on the city. In one area the water was up to the second story.

yes yes, maybe my word should have been more like catastrophic damage that heavy rain and wind is terrifying as well as damaging... but compared to Katrina, slight and a blessing in a way ~ the buildings are still standing and hopefully will remain that way it is SAD this happens any where, just like those fires ...

Thanks, Kelly for the gallery love. It was a fun card....but, I need more practice for that border stamp. I think I figured out that the block I was using had all kinds of curves in it for holding. I needed a straight corner to use the stamp-a-ma-jig. Will have to try that again with a different block. That larger one was out...must use a long straight one next time.

I have grocery shopping to do today. My arm isn't bothering me after the flu shot....like last time. Talk about a bonus! Will need to work on the table and get the living room picked up. We have cousin coming in....planning on getting together for dinner.

I've heard this morning that so far the new Levy/ pump system is holding. That is good news.

I'm out to spend most of the day on the computer. I did get outside while it was still cool this morning and worked in the garden shed for a bit. Cleaned off 1 counter. Have stuff to take to the dump tomorrow on my way to West Plains. I'm going to check the Kroger Add to see what items are on sale that do not have to be refrigerated or frozen. If there's enough, I might go to Poplar Bluff instead. It's only about 15 min. farther.

One of the stores we have in West Plains that we don't have in Poplar Bluff is a Dollar Tree. I tried their Qt. cartons of non-refrigerated whole milk last week. I want to put several in our stock-up downstairs. The manager said they sell a lot of the milk and with the first of the month coming up this weekend, I'm sure it will go quickly. Have you tried this product, Maggie?

new meeting is set for tomorrow for the house; yep, we are back on track already!

I have been dragging the last few days, can't hardly stay awake in the afternoons. I sure hope I'm not getting sick. Blech...can't even think about what to serve while company is here.

No, I haven't, but I don't drink milk and don't use it very often unless in baking/cooking. I usually have some soy/almond milk around. I also store dry milk. Maybe I should check that out for food storage.

It may depend on where you live too. My Kroger ad is good from Wednesday through following Tuesday. You can go online and check it out on Kroger - Home and put in your zipcode.

Good evening Quackers. I'm waiting for the carpenter to come by to look at my antique dining room table to see if he can construct a new leaf for it and make it look like the rest of the table. I also have another chair that one of the rungs is broken and I want him to replace that rung and fix it also.

I enjoyed Cody's game, tho I do not even know the final score...the scoreboard was not working... but they played well...

Krista and Cody stopped in so Cody could do some on line home work, and Krista asked how I did on the one year mark today... I did not even realize it was a year ago today that daddy passed away... I felt so bad, but in all honesty, I did not know what the date was either
of course now the tears will not stop...

So glad that you got to enjoy Cody's game tonight Soni.

Don't worry about not remembering the exact date. You were out enjoying your family and I know that's what your daddy would want you to be doing. He knows you loved him and that you miss him, but he also loves you and wants you to be happy and spending time with your family.

I worked on another Monthly Challenge card tonight. I just have to say that I really enjoyed putting this one together. Don't ask me why because I most often really like all my cards (sorry to toot my own horn, but I do love what I do), but this one just makes me feel good. I'll take a picture and upload it tomorrow.

The carpenter finally got here tonight about 7 (only an hour late), but he took my chair and the table leaf along with him. He says that the table is made of maple and he will check it all out to see if he can take it apart to use the ends of the leaf on the new one that he's going to make for me. I hope so. I want to preserve the integrity of the whole piece of furniture.

I'm off to bed now. Only 2 more days til my long weekend.

Yes ... I've seen it. I think the school is TOTALLY insane. I can't believe they are that petty.

Maybe it's just the weather. Will send prayers. Glad the house is back on track.

The carton I tried this week has a sell by date of July 2013. So it will keep a year. I can't keep dry milk on hand, it tends to get used in my fluffy coffee.
I've also had dry milk sour.

I"m done for the day.
I didn't get my items finished for the blog posts. But I did write 4 complete short stories, polished them and they're ready to mail off to competition tomorrow. Man my head hurts but i'm happy with the stories.

I just checked Krogers. We do still have the 10 for 10 going. It's their Labor Day sale. Plus Krogers is the only place around here still carrying the Nestea Decaf instant tea. And I remembered Poplar Bluff does have a Dollar Tree so guess I"m going that direction tomorrow.

Good luck on the table, Maggie. It sounds like it will be beautiful if he can accomplish it.

I'm home tomorrow. In fact, I'm home until Sunday, and when we get home from church, I'll be home through Tuesday. I'm SO good with that.

He knew how much I loved these grand kids, and my girls...
My mind is busy, with several things going on right now too ...
so It is ok...

Dody, I hope you are not getting sick either...Are you planning on getting a flu shot this year??

Keep the menu easy, no need to impress any one... maybe some salads or dishes made ahead and grill some meat... simple is good ... Enjoy your company

Good to hear that the plans for the house are all caught up and on track...
It sounds like you have a great building company

And isn't it some thing about the chain stores being different in some areas... Here it used to be Wed - Tues... I forgot about it being Labor day weekend, so maybe that has something to do with this Ad...

Kel, sounds like a full day...

Shell, What will you do with all of your at home time coming up??

Okay ladies, it is late, Mama Sue called me to check in, and see how Don was and to see if I had any plans for Saturday...she suggested we go to the riverfront, there is a nice Farmers Market with other types of vendors as well ... If it rains we will do lunch and Michaels ...

I did get the second book in the series I started last week So I want to read a chapter or two of that tonight...
waving
* goodnight

I didn't get my items finished for the blog posts. But I did write 4 complete short stories, polished them and they're ready to mail off to competition tomorrow. Man my head hurts but i'm happy with the stories.
Glad you got all that writing done. I hope some of it gets recognition. Are you submitting them for publication?

I sure hope he can do it. This is a fabulous set with the table, 6 chairs, and a breakfront. I was told a number of years ago that it was worth a lot of $$. My GF at the office thinks I'm leaving it to her in my Will.
