August in Washington DC area
Hi Folks -- we are planning to travel to the Washington DC area in late August for a family wedding and will stay for extra days to visit the Capital. The wedding is in Elkridge, MD and we are looking to stay somewhere close to the end of the Metro line (perhaps the green or orange lines) to the northeast of the city. We were hoping to find something like a cabin or smaller motel, rather than a large chain hotel, but I'm having difficulty finding those kind of places online. Can anyone in the area recommend a town to focus on that would give a start in the right direction? Any particular areas we should stay away from? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Bumping this up once to see if anyone has anything to offer.

Sorry! I know almost nothing about that area of DC as I'm in VA on the other side of the Beltway. But I don't know of any cabin type places around. Just chain hotels.
DC in late August is hot, humid, sticky, and generally pretty miserable. Be prepared and pack accordingly. Have fun! |
Thanks for the info Deb! We are leaning more toward a chain now as at least I can see the details on those online, and as we continue to search, also more toward the VA side of the city -- Reston, Sterling, Vienna -- since there seems to more available there.
We were definately expecting HHH weather! August wouldn't be my first choice, but since we have to go down anyway, we are taking advantage of the trip. |
