Default Portland Restaurants

My husband and I will be in Portland for three days at the end of August. Any suggestions for good, non-chain restaurants? We love all kinds of food.

I enjoyed McCormick & Schmick's when I was there a couple of years ago. The shrimp was yummy, and the the desserts? Divine. . .

Default Eating places

If they have a Qdobas I would suggest that-- it is really fresh Mexican food and you get a bunch for the buck(My husband and I split an order of chips and a chicken burrito) very filling

Amalfi's (NE Portland) for Italian.
McMenamins (Several locations - owned locally)for handcrafted beer and tasty pub food.
Mandarin Cove (downtown) for Chinese.
Newport Bay (Several locations - owned locally) for seafood.
Gustav's (Two locations) for German.
Stanford's (Several locations - owned locally) for steaks.

These are a few of our favorite spots!

Default Portland

There is a family run restaurant in Gresham that is called Dea's. It's a hamburger place and it is delicious! Every time we go to Portland, my only request is that we stop here for lunch!

Trufflehunter in Gresham and Pa's Kettle in Portland are both really good hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Very inexpensive too.

Great Lost Bear is in Portland, Maine....not sure which you were talking about, but it caught my eye.
If you are ever in Portland, Maine, Great Lost Bear is absolutely terrific! Looks like a dive, but has even been featured in Gourmet magazine! Over 50 local beers on tap....
