Will have to do a bit of a search for chilli beans and chilli mix...

You let Vikki join cause she lives on acreage - good for the bodies? It's just a bugger how many cards you have to send out though for a whole body. Takes forever!

Oh Holly those are adorable... yep i can see m&M's in them!

Keriann, Chili originated back int he horse and buggy days as a meal for the men out bringing cows in. Beans (kidney and Northern usually) meat (I use hamburger only, but a relative uses 6 meats in one pot..steak, ground beef, ground pork, bacon, chicken and something like a sausage.) Tomatoes and seasoning.
There are probably a million variations for Chili, myself, I could pass on it with no problem, but Clint loves it.

I can't remember much else that I was gonna say.
Reading and watching tv.. just can't seem to focus! LOL

Supper was going to be hamburgers, then Clint changed his mind since we are out of sliced cheese. So I did a meat loaf, with shredded cheese stuffed in the middle. OMG did it ever turn out good! LOL

Barb, thanks you for being so frank. I love that we can pretty much say anything and no one gets offended - and that we are all there for each other when we need it. DH still thinks that you are either imaginery, axe murderers of 63 year old men who are pedaphiles, but he will get over it!!!

Happy Sunday....
OMG I thought Brownie was over that thinking!

I LOVE it that we don't not offended each other, that makes life stressful, trying to be so careful on what you say or how you say it!

I like to add cheddar cheese to mine right before I eat it, and Tom adds cheddar cheese and sour cream.

I just lost it! Clint says that all the time!

Vikki, I always put mozzarella in the middle of my meat loaf. Tom loves it that way!

Friendship bread. I will find it and post a link. That might be easier. It sure smells good though! I made it because Tuesday is Mom's birthday, and she just LOVES it!

Amish Friendship Bread Starter
This is the Amish Friendship Bread Starter Recipe that you’ll need to make the Amish Friendship Bread (above). It is very important to use plastic or wooden utensils and plastic or glass containers when making this. Do not use metal at all!

Ingredients:

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 cup warm milk (110°F)

Directions:

1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water for about 10 minutes. Stir well.

2. In a 2 quart glass or plastic container, combine 1 cup sifted flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly or the flour will get lumpy when you add the milk.

3. Slowly stir in warm milk and dissolved yeast mixture. Loosely cover the mixture with a lid or plastic wrap. The mixture will get bubbly. Consider this Day 1 of the cycle, or the day you receive the starter.

Then as follows:
Day 1: You receive your batter in a gallon bag. Do nothing. Place the bag flat on the counter.
Day 2: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 3: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 4: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 5: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 6: Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, and 1 cup milk. Squeeze bag to mix.
Day 7: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 8: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 9: Squeeze the bag several times during the day.
Day 10: In a large bowl (not metal) combine the batter with the following ingredients: 2 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk. Mix with wooden or plastic spoon. Pour 1 cup of start into 4-1 gallon Ziploc bags (1 cup in each bag). Give one bag to four friends along with a copy of these instructions.

With the remaining batter in the bowl add:
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 Large Instant vanilla pudding mix
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 cups flour

In separate bowl mix 1 tsp cinnamon and 3 tbs sugar. Sprinkle into 2 greased loaf pans. Divide batter equally into 2 loaf pans. Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until golden brown.

ENJOY!

Hope you all had a great weekend so far. Last night we went to the dedication of a gym at a local university--it is now named after a friend of ours who was the volleyball coach there and retired 5 years ago. It was a nice ceremony and then there was a reception at a supper club afterward. Today, we had an ordination at church of one of our former interns who is starting at a church about 20 minutes away. There was a dinner afterward and we are home now watching a move--not a very good one in my opinion.

Tomorrow after the second church service we have Apple Fest. It is a popluck and fund raiser (bake sale and silent auction) with the proceeds going to help a lady in our church who is going to seminary. They have three kids, with one in college, so I am sure the money will be very helpful. Not sure if I will be able to check in tomorrow morning, so have a great Sunday!

Karen, I know you were on the email. I saw your name. Hmmm....

I posted the friendship bread recipe above, but I will copy and paste it into an email for you.

I have some masculine birthday cards to make for church today. Tom has some hunting program on TV on, and it actually inspired me for my cards! Too funny!

Vikki, you need to add the J in the middle of Karen's name. That's why she didn't get the emails.

Yeast gives me Migraines.

Back in the 80's I eliminated so many foods, that now I don't remember what the reason was.
My sister Teresa makes this Friendship Bread, and now I just say No Thanks, but I couldn't really remember why. LOL

Enjoy an extra piece for me!

Aww you girls! Not to worry about the emails. Vicki sent me the update. I got my cards in the mail yesterday but just picked up the mail today--SOOOOOOOOoooo beautiful! Wow! You all are one bunch of talented ladies!
This morning was the shower and it was wonderful. A lot of people complimented me on the invites. Also, two people asked if I did it professionally because they wanted me to make some invites for them. I was flabbergasted! Like....wow! I never have had that happen before. I had also made the Bride an address book, a to-do notebook, and a memo pad. I included those with the wedding thank you notes I had made for her gift, along with the stamps to mail them out. It came out pretty good. I had planned to take a picture for you all to see, but I forgot before I had already wrapped it all up.
Ahh, but now I can get back to making cards for sheer fun! I'll be sure to send you all some happy mail!
I'm off to get Katie packed and back off to college. Jim is going to drive her back since I picked her up. Thank goodness, I really wouldn't want to be having a seven hour drive in front of me right now!

yes, it was nice. We did get outbid at the last minute on two silent auctions, but that is OK.

I too am ready to get out the fall decorations, but will wait until next weekend too. Need to try to hang onto summer as long as I can..............

I like to get my pumpkins at the farm on Hwy 18 out towards Wales. They are such nice people.

Ok, Church has asked for cards, and some of what they are looking for are wedding cards. One of the ladies in stamp club made a nice black and white card for our wedding theme swap. I was thinking of doing black and white for church. that would be ok wouldn't it? Or would you go with colors other than Black and white? Opinions please?!?

I say black and white is always the best for wedding cards--very traditional! Unless you know the color theme of the wedding.

I am off to visit a friends new baby this morning then home to study. My holidays are over, so it's back to the grindstone. I have 2 online tests to do by Friday.

I agree...I love black and white wedding cards, unless you know the colors of the wedding. Black and white are so elegant!
Kerriann..sorry the holidays are over! Good luck on the tests!
barb..how was the apple festive?
Laurie..I got the recipes here..thank you! I didn't see them on my email.
Mmm on the meatloaf with cheese in the middle. I love cheese in anything. My sister makes a meatloaf that haves the mashed potatoes in the middle. OMGOSH! I love it. Jim doesn't care for it so I don't make it. He likes his mash potatoes on the OUTSIDE. I made a breakfast for Katie yesterday morning. I'm so hungry now but I'm trying to hold off and wait for Jim to come home from dropping off Katie.

I like black and white - it is so elegant.
Rachel seems to have disappeared. Hope she is ok....

I got my emails back for her. I was just about to ask the same thing.

Don't make me drive up there. I think she is an hour North of me.

So my son just called and offered to pick up pizza and have dinner with me. Sounds good! What a nice guy! I should go pour some wine to go with it!

Oooh pizza delivery oh yeah! You even get to eat with the delivery guy and hubby can't get upset! LOL

I just worked on my totals for another thread I am on where we keep track of what we do, and use stuff before buying new. I have made 256 cards so far this year.

UFF DA

I tried making a link in my signature line with my gallery but said I was over the 600 somethings.

Thank you Karen! It's actually the same pic, I just cropped it more.

I joined in on a image swap and now I am paranoid 'someone' is going to pop in and 'nag'

My critters are bored tonight.. Joker wants to play and Montana is a fraidy cat and won't. Max is terrorizing Louie and Montana. Louie is being lazy but keeps stretching out and poking my feet.

I feel like I have a day care going here. "sit down" "indoor voices" "stop pestering him" Oh good grief!
LOL

Oh, I pulled everything out from under the kitchen sink, I kept my canning stuff there. Not only do I think I figured out how the mice are coming in (the drain pipe has too much space around it) but I found out my faucet leaks. Man was it wet in there.
I haven't looked in that cupboard in over a year!

BTW Karen thanks a lot! I am so into that Cherry Cobbler color now! LOL WOW is it ever beautiful!

So what all goes with it?

Anything but a card--like bookmarks, candy holders, Christmas ornaments, notebooks, post-a-note holders, beaded pens, jumbo paper clips, mini boxes, etc. All of the "fun" type things. I like to join some of the seasonal ABAC's--just did two candy holders for a Ghoulfriends Swap--very fun. The Snow and Santa Swaps I am hosting also have an ABAC in it. You should check them out--they are a blast. Go to the gallery and type in ABAC for a search and you will get tons of ideas.
