heres the link to how i learned to make the rag purses. you do not need to cut the fab with the bigshot and die, you can just cut regular squares, works the same but the edges will be just a touch different. or you can bbuy what they call charm packs, which are 5 inch squares of fab already cut and ready to use. that is what i used on my very first purse...very quick and easy

Kerriann, keep putting the kittens in the litter box. Let them wander around the house for a bit, and stick them back in the litter box. Our vet taught us that. We had issues with our cat when we moved from the apartment to the house. We did that a lot for about a week. Otherwise, um, I have no ideas. I would also invest in a scratching post if they still have their claws.

I have not tried the vegemite yet, but I PROMISE that I will. I will try almost anything once, and vegemite does not scare me!

That's what we have been doing. I really need to get a cat flap in the glass door. Unfortunately my DH is not the handyman type, so will get my Dad to do it next time he is here.

Have fun with the vegemite - apparently it is an aquired taste. We have just always had it, so i can't really comment. I thought it may have not got through customs, but it did!

Well, I am really hungry for lasagna, but I do not want to turn the oven on and heat up the house. Trying a recipe from Kraft for crock pot lasagna. We shall see...hoping for the best!

we are actually cooler and breezy today, such a nice break form the high 90s plus.

tomorrow i plan to do some sewing, i need some therapy ha ha, the folks had lots of needs this wweek including 6hrs of drs appts just in wedsday! poor mom, she was just done by the time we got home. but the good news is her heart is fine and so is pacemaker.

she had valve transplants 4 yrs ago and pacemaker put in, just 2 months after dad had 5 bypass surgery! both unexpected and unplanned. and 2yrs ago dad suffered massive strokes and is still recovering. its been and adventure to say the least! neither one can drive now, so guess who plays chaufer and referee? hee hee.....

but anywho, enough on that!

anyone starting thier list for hand made gifts for this yr yet? we're half way through now!
sewing is on my list of course, everyone looks forward to a new oven door dress, so gotta get them done. maybe make some of those plastic bag holders too for a change of pace. and of course the purses and totes.

Hello! Hello! I am home from Seattle. My gosh..that is one beautiful city. I am way way way overtired. My flight was cancelled and I had to spend an extra day in Seattle---got to see the city that way. I am on major jet lag and I can't even talk right. I had to get up at 330am to make my flight. I will read and catch up with everyone this weekend--I'm off from work until Weds. I just wanted to say hello to you all!

Helllo Friends!!!!!!! I am over my jet lag and have been cleaning the dickens out of my house...well, my daughter has been cleaning right along with me. Tonight I have a couple of bridesmaids coming over to make wedding shower invites. I have almost....a BIG ALMOST....everything cut out. I'm going to let them stamp as I finish cutting the rest of the paper.
All that food talk has made me HUNGRY! I would love some lasagna and pie! I have been trying to eat much better since I got back on Friday. I was huffing and puffing as I walked all over Seattle on Thursday. I need to get in shape! Tonight I am making a huge salad. Um, I'm not giving up the wine..just the chocolate and fried stuff!
So, here's the quick story on Seattle. Boring meetings for the first couple of days ..so I'll cut right to the fun.....
I was really upset when my flight got cancelled. I was in the airport line for two hours while they tried to find me another flight. I just wanted to get home in the worse way! Finally, the airlines said that there was no way to get out of Seattle until the following morning. So they put me up in a hotel and gave me a meal voucher for 15.00. By the time I got to the hotel, there were six other Managers who had also been delayed till the following day. It wound up being the nicest day I had on my whole trip. No meetings, so we all just walked around the city --went to Pike's Market, the Space Needle, the coastline....just had a wonderful time. BTW, did you know Seattle is doesn't get dark till like 10pm?? Just like Alaska has long days or long nights, so does Seattle. By the time we got back to the hotel it was 8pm. So we all had a wonderful dinner at the hotel on the Company's expense. Then up at 330am to catch my flight home. So although I wasn't happy about my flight being cancelled...it was a good thing!
Holly, funny you mentioned about getting Christmas gifts ready. I was looking around today for ideas. I found what I want to make..I just have to order the stuff and get going. I love those plastic baggie things also. You are so talented with your sewing. I can't do anything that requires a stich!
Vickki--I agree..try a church for the chairs. I've used our local church before to rent chairs. They just asked for a donation.
Kerriann...How goes the kitten battle? Cats like to use a litter box so I'm not sure why they aren't. I think Laurie might be right--give them a few days of you showing them where the little box is.
Rachel...Nice to see you and SOOOOOOOO EXCITED that you are doing the VSN...that is AWSOME! WOW!!!!!!!!! I'm impressed.
Laurie, How are your eyes feeling?
Okay, I have to go and get more cutting done for tonight. Sorry for the long long note! It's hot as blazes here..hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Karen, I now want to go see Seattle! Yeah!!!

My eyes are doing better, and the eye doc gave me a few things to try when I notice my eyes getting tired.

Tonight I made shrimp scampi and a nice salad, and for dessert we had peanut butter bars. It's such a simple recipe, and no matter where I take them people love them! YUM!

ohhhhhh...oh...I was SOOO good..."patting myself on the back". The girls brought cupcakes and brownies AND ice cream. NO! I did not indulge! Um, but I am sitting here with a drink.............bad. We got half of the cards assembled. I feel better we got that much done. I told them we need one more go-round to do the final assembly. LOL...I don't care if I see Rich Razzelberry EVER again! I cut 300 dies todays!

lol...no worries Laurie...I'll be ready to stamp and cut again by tomorrow...even if it's more Rich Razzleberry.....
You would have LOVED these brownies..they had a little frosting swirled on the top...and they looked really really chewy......and they smelled SOOO GOOD. I think they might have had chocolate bits in them also... Isn't it amazing how even if I didn't eat them...I know them like I did!!!!!!

Thanks for checking Holly!

Yes, Karen had brownies and sent them home with others. I didn't even get a sniff of one or a crumb for that matter. Seriously...they are their own food group.

If it makes you feel any better Holly...I didn't eat one myself. Of course, every morning when I get up I say "Why oh why did I let that brownie go?"
Laurie...I have a few favorites--like pacific point (staying), really rust (gone), Soft sky (gone), Rich razzelberry(till I made 100 shower invites), boarding blue (gone), Bja Blue (staying), Old Olive (yeah! Staying..love old olive), Not quite Navy (staying and looks awsome with old olive) Chocolate chip (staying).
I'm looking forward to using Cajun Craze (new) and Ealy Espresso (new).
What about the rest of you girls??

The new daffodil is pretty too!

I think it's really pretty for female birthday cards and baby girl cards.

Laurie...I think that's it. I really have to use it and see it a bit more. It's soooooo hot here ...and no end in sight. But I have the ac on and just took a shower, so I'm good now!!

Karen, our heat wave broke last night. Well, the heat is still here, but the humidity is down considerably! YEAH!

I only have to work a 1/2 day today. I didn't sleep very well last night, so I am very thankful for the 1/2 day!

hmm...its really hard to choose! i like Gable Green, its close to the color i painted my craftroom! well, the lower half of the room anyways, the top is white.

no, no demo at the moment so to say. she is taking a much needed break as her DH deploys alot and she is taking the summer to travel and visit family. which is very understandable! she will place orderes if you call but i just hate to bother her, KWIM?
