I had an issue with my local Michaels and emailed their customer support to ask about the coupons this year. Even though their coupons say only one coupon per person per day, it's actually one coupon type per person. I also suggested they change their wording.
Here is their response:
Below is the current guideline utilized in our stores.
The Michaels percent off (40%, etc.) any one regular priced item coupon is only valid for the dates shown on the coupon; reproductions are not accepted. Internet/email coupons are not considered reproductions. We also accept coupons on smartphones. Consumers are limited to one coupon type per customer per day (see types below). The coupon must be surrendered at the time of purchase and may not be combined with any other
coupon, offer, sale or discount. Cashiers are not permitted to override sale prices to the regular price in order for customers to use coupons or discount offers.
Type 1 - % Off Any One Regular Price Item - Newspaper, In-Store Promotion, Bounce Back, Internet or email
Type 2 - % Off Entire Regular Price Purchase - Newspaper, In-Store, Bounce Back, Internet or e-mail
Type 3 - % Off Entire Purchase - Regular Price and Sale Newspaper, In-Store, Internet or e-mail such as 15% Off Entire Purchase including Sale Items
Type 4 - Any type Bonus Coupon - Newspaper, In-Store, Bounce Back, Internet or e-mail such as 50% Off Handcrafted Floral or $5.00 off a $50.00 purchase.
(Multiple bonus coupons are accepted.)
I know that this may sound confusing. Following are some examples of acceptable coupon combinations.
(1) 40% off one regularly priced item coupon and (1) 20% off Entire Regular Purchase (either a Michaels
Stores Inc. coupon or a direct competitor)
(1) Bonus coupon for an extra 30% percent off tabletop frames and (1) 40% off one regularly priced item
