Default iso Shucky Beans aka Leather Britches

Hi
I am looking for Shucky Beans aka Leather Britches. I want to buy some. My aunt is getting on in age and it is getting harder for her to make them. I love my care packages but I don't want to ask her for them. I can make them in the coastal North Carolina. It is just tooo humid. I tryed the dehydrater method but I don't like them that way.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about it is a way of drying green beans to store them. Here is a link that can explain it better than I can. I loooooove them.

Thanks
Pam

I mean I can't make them here. For some reason I can't edit my post.
I only get them either when I go to eastern KY or someone sends me a care package.
It's it crazy to think that green beans are a wonderful Christmas present.

My grandma used to send Leather Britches to us at Christmas time when she was alive and able. She lived in NC, too, but not on the coast. Hope you find some! I miss having them!

Okay, so what do you do with these shucky beans once you've dried them?

Did your Grandma live in the mountains? My family is from Ky, Tn & Va where they come together. I believe shucky beans are a mountain thing. No one around here (Wilmington area) knows what I'm talking about.

They are dried green beans. My aunt now puts them in ziploc bags and storges them in the freazer. When you want to cook them, you wash them, run some water on them and let soak over night. The next day pour off soak water, replace with new water. add fat back or ham cook on low boil for 4 hours adding water as need. Closer to the end let the water cook down.
I guess it would be easier to tell you to cook them like soup beans.
