Default Good Books

I am looking for a couple new good books to read. I am getting ready to start the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward and plan to read her Fallen Angels series. I just put down a book from the Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell, I had read so many of those, I got bored with it. I will go back to it eventually. I need some good books that are sort of out of the norm for me. I read murder mystery, vampire love stories, not sure what Fallen is about though yet, and sometimes I read legal mysteries. I need something completely different! I need change, lol!! Can you ladies recommend me anything?? Thanks!

Oh I have kind of been in the same rut. I just went to the library and got seven books. Five of them were by writers I've never read or if I have its been awhile. I like romance but not those gushy ones. Diana Palmer has some good ones but then I just read one I didn't like at all. Do you like Julie Garwood? I am with you on the Scarpetta books. I am tired of them too and they are all alike. Truthfully I read for entertainment. I don't like much on TV. My husband is a TV addict so I usually read while he watches.
Have you read the Fifty Shades series? They aren't half as bad as I thought they were going to be. I liked them but don't get me wrong there is a lot of sex in them. I had to check them out to see what all the hoopla was about.
Good luck. Happy reading.

Try "Still Life" by Louise Penny. It's the first in a series and full of wonderful characters. Set in Montreal, a wonderful main character Chief Inspector Gamache.

Another really good series is written by David Rosenfelt about a lawyer named Andy Carpenter. Great characters including nice dogs.

I also love the Eve Dallas series by J D Robb and the Sheriff Joanna Brady series by J A Jance.

One last new one I just found- Miss Dimple Disappears by Mignonette F Ballard.

Enjoy!

I'm listening to The Forgotten Garden. I'm loving it. It is intriguing, definately a lot of twists in the plot and quite a mystery. I had to redo the first chapter to get into it, but I'm so hooked now I wish I needed to drive across town in this yucky rain to hear more.

Thanks ladies, I will look into all of those!

Sillyfilly, I have the 50 shades series, just haven't read them yet. I'm afraid I will be jealous of her love life and then it'll just depress me.

Cakhuxel, what are all those different series' about?

I will have to look into that series as well Purplewinkle!

The David Rosenfelt series is great.....I read a lot of Black Ops, murder mysteries, etc. and these stories are just a welcome change. This series is about a lawyer (and his golden retriever) who without really trying seems to get caught up in some kind of a case that will usually involve going to court. There is humor, love and mayhem in every book (I have read them all). The characters surrounding the "case" are the same in every book so you get to know them......the books are really witty and well written. I read most of them in order, but you don't have to. Enjoy!

The J.A Jance (Joanna Brady Series) books take place in southern Arizona. Joanna is a sheriff married to a famous writer.......the stories are good!

Check out W.E.B. Griffin....he writes series about military, FBI, Police, Secret Service....omigosh, they are so good...the details are unbelievable, especially in the WW2 series.....Lee Child is also great...every book is good.

Happy reading!

I know what you mean about a reading rut!

Have you read the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks? It is non-fiction and is fascinating. I didn't want to put it down. Check it out!

Other good recent fiction reads were the Poisonwood Bible and Stephen King's 11/23/63 (this book captivated me).

I also liked the SKing book 11/23/63.

I know that most people don't like it, but I am a history geek and love medieval mysteries. My favorite series are by Michael Jecks, Alys Clare and Candice Robb.
