Default Family fun restaurant in Milwaukee?

We are taking a family trip this weekend to Milwaukee. Can anyone tell me of any family oriented/fun restaurants in that area? Sort of like an Ella's Deli (in Madison) or Rainforest Cafe or just something different than your typical Applebee's or local chain restaurants.

TIA!

Have you looked at that TV show - Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins? They typically do at least one good diner in most American cities. I bet they've found a neat one in Milwaukee. Here's a link to their show info - http://www.foodnetwork.com/diners-dr...ves/index.html

Check this out - Fodor's (a popular guide book company) has their restaurant guide online - http://www.fodors.com/world/north-am...l?ref=ckwdrr72

Here's the results of a google search on "milwaukee restaurant guide" - http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=milwa...fp=uJKuPBMYFsU

There's probably a great one in the old neighborhood by the ballpark as well. You can also ask your hotel concierge for recommendations. I'd actually ask the concierge if the neighborhoods by the ballpark are still good (meaning safe) as they've really gone downhill in some cities. I've never been to Milwaukee, so I don't know. However, I would be singing the theme song from "Laverne and Shirley" the entire time if I were there.

Kelly, there is nothing around Miller Park...it's all an industrial area. There is no "neighborhood" there.

I found these links for you....

Heck, I think I'd just drive to Madison and eat at Ella's! It's one of our favorites.

Well so much for the neat old neighborhood by the ballpark thought!

There is a restaurant inside the ball park. I think it's a TGIF but not sure. The menu is pretty much sports bar but you can look out over the field. (You can go there even when there is no game). Oh, wait. Girls huh? Guess that may not be too much fun except for dad.

If you're going to Milwaukee you must have custard. You want to go to Leon's on South 27th St. An old fashioned drive-in (without the car hops).

Yep, the restaurant inside Miller Park is a Friday's...it's really only fun if you're there when a game is going on..otherwise you'll just be staring at the empty baseball diamond with a few tours going back and forth...
I can't of anything off hand, right at the moment the Wisconsin State Fair is going on-which is right outside of Milwaukee...best (horrible fatty, calorie ridden LOL) creampuffs EVER!!! And they have a ton of other stuff for kids...it's a fun way to spend the day.

State Fair for sure!

Also in Hales Corners is Organ Piper Pizza, one of the weirdest places ever.

How old are your kids?

Yeah ... Leon's!

What all are you doing in Milwaukee?! There are so many great places to take kids there!

ktdid, my girlfriend suggested Organ Piper Pizza and I don't think we'll be too far away. My girls are 10, 8, 5 & and I have a 17 month old son.

Jeanne, we are going to the Milw. Zoo. We used to live in Milton (so, much much closer than the 4 hr drive now) and go every summer until we moved 5 years ago. What else can you suggest for kids? The zoo will be just one day for us. Still working on plans for the rest of the weekend. We plan to drive down Friday morning.
