A bit of a spinoff from another thread-but what have been good finds that you have been able to get at your local Dollar Store?
Mine have been:
mini clothespins (natural and multi-colored)
Small plain albums that I decorate-they stand up on their own and have a solid textured background-great for shower party games
Mini boxes-plain white-12 in 1 pack (can be wheeled and filled)
Puzzle pieces
Mini notebooks/journals

I have not gone in a while-these were items bought at different times.
Also forgot to mention plastic lunch bags-great to stamp with on Staz-On.
I like finding things for hostesses that SU doesn's sell and other embellishments. Around the holidays are generally the best time I have found for finding cute sparkly things.

Britta - I know exactly the boxes that you are talking about. I love those. (The wedding favor boxes - right?). I love to wheel on them. I'm going to fill them with some type of treat for DD's classmates on Halloween. I also picked up 2 packs of them for QCBetty because she doesn't have a Dollar Tree in her little part of the world. They also sell these at Target in their dollar zone area.
I found really nice photo albums in a barely banana color that I stamped on with stazon and used it to show some of my cards. I also thought that getting a few and decorating them and filling them with some various cards and tied with a pretty ribbon would be a nice gift. I LOVE the dollar store.

I find a lot of good stuff at Dollar Tree:
RoseArt Scented Glitter Gel Pens: 3 for $1, you can insert a paper in the barrel just like the RSVP pens!
Metallic and Pearl Finished Pencils: 10 or 12 for $1, you can stamp on these!
Translucent covered small notepads: 3 for $1 (haven't been able to find these lately). I stamp the covers with Stazon and then there is usually a plain white sheet just beneath that I stamp a shadow stamp with. Little Layers works beautifully with these.
Checkbook style calendars: $1 each, I insert a stamped paper over the cover. The ones at Dollar Tree are usually a better quality than the ones at Michael's.
Pillar candles in all different colors.
Iridescent shreddies for gift packaging.
I've also found at other dollar stores: mini black dominos in a case of their own, marbles for doing the marble background, spiral bound index card books, just make a cover that says, "Recipes" and everyone wants one!

Also because Michelle's a SWEETHEART!!!!
Last trip to the dollar store was when I went to "Canada" (that's what we call when we leave here - going to Lower Canada) I got alphabet beads for a buck... clear envies for $1.50 a pack... and a few things to make shaker card "fillings" such as confetti for 2/$1.00...now I just need to make a shaker!!

Yes, I too found the wedding faovr boxes that I'll use for a baby shower favor. Also I bought a bunch of white votives after Christmas. I stamped tissue paper and heated it to the candle. They were very cute!
i got the little cork coasters, i saw a great idea in a magazine or stamping and making a little mini album out of these.
i got these little straw bags with handles, haven't used them yet but i know they will be cute for something
jr legal pads, notepads, spiral bound index cards......
Funny that you should ask. I jsut stopped at one last night, and when I was walking out with my goodies, I thought "I need to post SCS about these finds"
I got
Clear Gel-a large bottle
Regular marbles-big bag....I had just bought my boys a bag that was small and paid like $3
Flat marbles
a large can of shaving cream
and a bunch of confetti cut outs
I got 2 large gift bags - 1 white, 1 kraft for $1
6 small different color gift bags for $1
8 notepads for $1 (like grocery store list paper)
3 small spiral notebooks for $1
1 roll of kraft wrapping paper for $1
Of course, then I ran to Wal-mart and got 2 packs of those paperclips that everyone is talking about! Thanks for the tip Paris! Oh, and some bookmarks and some clear bags for gel cards! I'm soooo bad!!
Walmart, The Dollar Store, Home Depot, Michaels, Target, JoAnn's (for returns), Children's Place (NSR - for returns) - is there anywhere else I need to go? I'll have to go up & down every aisle in The Dollar Store, Home Depot, Michael's and JoAnn's - can't take the chance I might miss something and have to go back after someone posts it here. I might be able to squeeze Walmart & Target in the same trip but I doubt it since we still have school shopping to do. I guess I'll be back to SCS on Monday.
Actually Pam, I'll answer for her. Since she might not ask herself. LOL She is looking for silver star eyelets. I have checked 3 different places and couldn't find any so my package to her is going out tomorrow without the eyelets. But, with a few surprises. CVS - has composition books on sale this week 2 for $1. Postage to her little island is going to break into my stamp fund -- but she is soo worth it.

This may be a silly question - but is there any reason she wouldn't use the SU! silver stars? I have the star eyelets, and I'm not overly attached to the silver ones. Do we know how many she wants? Because I also have some other small eyelets that I could trade if someone else is not overly fond of their silver stars. What do you think - should I pursue that or just add all the craft stores to my list?
PrincessMi - I think we should continue to talk about her like she's not even here.
I went to our Dollar store to find memo cube. BOO-HOO! Nothing! I saw some great examples of memo cubes and matching pens that I SO want to copy. Where have all the memo cubes gone?
WAAHHHH! I went to the Dollar store at lunch time and they didn't have any jr. legal pads, or pens that I could use like the RSVP ones. I did get metallic type confetti, large gift bags to stamp (2 for $1), little gift bags (3/$1), shredding, Mead composition books (gonna give those a try this weekend), little purse-size notebooks, spiral-bound index cards, and I can't remember what else. I went specifically to get the jr. legal pads, but wound up spending $29 anyhow! Oh, what would I do without the Dollar store?
I'm not sure if it's luck or determination! I can go into a store and see nothing and others I know, can go in and find all kinds of stuff. I really don't like to shop - unless there are free samples of chocolate involved!
That's because you have to go down EVERY aisle! If you don't, you might miss something!
BTW, I had approx 3 minutes to run into another Dollar store tonight while husband was waiting in the car. I got the jr legals!
I just went tonight...i huge pack of white tissue paper and hard bound address books about the size of a checkbook. I thought they could be covered like the journals. I too went to wally world and picked up two packs of the clippies. $1.50 for 50!!! They also had generic lg comp books for 54 cents!!!

I went to the Dollar Tree. I was excited to find the spiral index card books two for a dollar, the 2005 checkbook-style calendards, and some cute clippie frame magnets. They have a base, a piece of paper with a quote, then a cardboard mat with another paper mat on top that matches the quote, then a piece of glass. All held together with metal clips. I figure I can try taking it apart and putting stamped art in there instead...should be interesting!!!

I like to go there for the flat, glass decorative marbles (add image using Crystal Effects and make it into a magnet). I also like the nice packages of white beach sand and shells (nice sharker stuff for Summer by the Sea). Don't go often, but when I do I pick up a lot of the nice stuff you have all mentioned.
