Good morning. Hope you are all enjoying your yarn this weekend. Isn't it comforting when it's so cold to curl up with a good project...?

I haven't either, lost momentum. But I can almost crochet in the dark, so maybe I'll get caught up quickly. I know you can do it!

wow! Subbing to this thread, its great to find others with the same interests. I love to crochete, more self taught - like others, wishing i have of paid more attention to Gramma's lessons. She taught me some when I was 8 years old and I played with it abit, but I never really picked it up again till I was in my early 20's. I love that I can whip up a gift in no time. I would LOVE to learn to knit- but my brain refuses that information. It is funny I found this thread tonight because I haven't picked up my crochet hooks since last Feb- and tonight I just couldn't settle myself down so I grabbed up a ball of yarn and a hook and worked up a scarf. I dug out a pattern for a "snuggle blanket"- my daughter asked for one for Christmas- (the ones with sleeves) I knew I had a pattern somewhere- sure enough-I found it and will be digging through my yarn collection tomorrow so I can get started. Look forward to chatting to everyone and sharing . Huge thank you to everyone for keeping this post going.

Have you tried Raverly.com?? Membership is free and they have tons of patterns. I set my pattern search to crochet because there are knitting patterns too.

Ya know, I really need to read the crochet pattern before I begin. I started a poncho for DD, and made the neck opening smaller because after attempting the neckline/starting point the first time, it seemed too big. So I started again, a new shorter chain in a yarn similar in weight and material as the homespun - because I couldn't find the stitches in the homespun chain. I switched to homespun for round 1, and made it up to row four or five, and checked the pattern.
oops.
After completing all the rows below the first one, you're supposed to go back and add two above it - which makes the neckline a much more normal size. Had I read the entire pattern the first time - I wouldn't be ripping it out again. Oh well. It keeps me busy I guess.

I am chrishooks. Doesn't sound that appealing, but I was at a loss. I did put a few things in favs. Also, started an apron for a friend, but it's a pattern from one of those one a day calendars and now that I've started it I've come to point where I'm not sure the pattern was written correctly. Ugh. I don't think those patterns are checked before printing.

Well, I've added another 'have to' Christmas gift. The cardiff cowl on lionbrand.com. Had to do it and now I want one for me, too. The lists gets longer.

Hi -

I've been crocheting for about 50yrs. My grandma taught me the basics and the rest I learned from a book. I work both in yarn and in thread. But, it's kind of taken a back seat to stamping and scrapbookking. I also like to knit, sew, needlepoint and counted cross stitch.

I think I have too many interests and not enough time.

Hi there & welcome to the thread. My list of hobbies is getting out of control too. LOL At least if I'm burned out on one I have plenty to choose from.

I've more hobbies than I have time as well. I still want to learn to knit someday. Would love to get in to beading, but I just cannot afford the time & money for another hobby!

I'm currently ATTEMPTING this: http://www.allfreecrafts.com/crochet/teddy-bear.shtml
I'd like to make it for my niece's birthday. I've never attempted anything like this before though. I'm most concerned about being able to figure out how to join all the pieces. Any words of advice?

Hello ladies! I learned to crochet when I was very young by watching my mother. I've made numerous afghans, placemats, scarves, etc etc etc. I also cross stitch and stamp. Nice to find this thread! Lots of really good information here!

I started a blanket for a friend of my son's who is having a baby. However, it seemed to light for a February baby, I found a pound of yarn in white and went looking for a new pattern. I found this patter that is one sc, one dc and one tc, then you repeat. Do it in chains of 3 + 1. (I chained 109). It is really pretty. I have no idea where I got the pattern must have been from a web site because it was on a plain sheet of paper. Really pretty. So now I decided to do 3-4 inches of white, two rows of green, then more white, then two rows of yellow and repeat the pattern. Will let you know how it goes. It certainly was fun to find the pattern.
