So many patterns, so little time. Not to mention the ideas in my head I'd like to make patterns for!

Oh I hear ya! I can get a headache from thinking about it!

I bought some vintage crochet bookets yesterday and some of the patterns look simple to make. I've tried and failed at making up my own patteren as I go along. It just never turns out the way it should. LOL!

I've made up a couple of my own patterns for baby blankets. I didn't write them down though. Both patterns are very simple. The first pattern I used on three blankets (2nephews & a baby on the way). The second pattern I made up I'm still working to complete the blanket. I've been through three sceens of yarn already and think I'll need two more (they're small sceens). The yarn is very silky feeling though so I think the baby will love it. Not sure which baby will get this one though.

What would you charge if you were to sell a baby blanket?

Good afternoon ladies.
I just thought I'd stop in and see if my W. VA buddy is prepared for the snow! Yep, I'm onery. Wish I were getting some of it instead of this blasted cold wind.

How fast can you crochet a new scarf, Susan?

Oh, the snow is soooo close! I wish I could say we were getting more than a flurry here! It's very cold and windy and my fingers are crossed, lol.

Kelly, I'm sure Susan could whip up a scarf in a nano second, lol!

Heart From Susan

I've been texting with Susan this morning. Here's what she has to say:

No snow, got the rain and winds, no power but safe, praise God.
Not sure when we will get power back. may be in the office tomorrow but government closed so far.

ADDED NOTE: As I was typing this I got a text that her power is back on! yeah... Pray it remains.

Yes, I had candy. and a Pepsi. Which is not good for me or my diet or health. And that just is a sign of the stress level from work situation for me. My new mantra: Its just a job. Its a means to an end, not the end. Its just a job. Its a means to an end, not the end... Its just a job...

But on another note, this weekend I did have time to craft a bit this weekend including making a pretty cowl scarf out of bamboo from a pattern I bought at Craftsy. Love it. Quick, easy, pretty, my kind of crochet! I'll try to post a pic soon. It was inspired by the scarf you made me before, Christina!

OOOOooo... that sounds nice, Susan! I love that bamboo yarn, too! I made Sweet P a cardigan recently and it washes so nicely. I think I need to share your new mantra with DH. It could work for him, too. Hang in there and know people out here LOVE you!

Love bamboo yarn!! Have not bought any yet, but I do keep trying to think of project to use it on! LOL. I use more size 10 than anything---It's my favorite. Oh, before I forget, have you gals see the Sparkle yarn from Vanna's Choice? Totally FAB! I'm using it for Christmas ornaments and it works pretty good for that. It's a little ichy for anything close to the skin though. Oooooh, and the tinsel MArtha Stewart yarn. FAB-U-LOUS! I think another weekness is showing. LOL

Summer, I always think of you now when I'm looking at a gorgeous doily or some sort of filet pattern. Those size 10 and 3 yarns make me scream, lol! I need to make myself settle down and practice using them. I haven't tried tinsel yet. What are the ornaments you're making?

Feel free to share the mantra, Christina.

So what is your source for bamboo yarns?

I noticed Joanns and Michaels now only carry two types and limited ones of those even. I was really disappointed. I'm trying to finish up a small gift purse tonight and then start on another cowl. I love the shell design on it and just keep making them for now. Its been a sanity saving few days for me and I'm so glad I also have Monday off. My BP is probably back down. But its been a challenging week to say the least, and I also haven't felt well at all... probably stress dropping my resistancy and something trying to get ahold of me.
Its a cozy warm afghan, big ball of yarn, crochet needle and cup of tea for me tonight after I hit a long hot shower.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Snowflakes, stars and medallions. Don't worry, I'm planning on showing you guys all the stuff I'm working on. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.

Here is the first one I did in the teal, with the white flower to pin on. I used the bamboo yarn for this one. I also made another this weekend in plum and it turned out nice, and its out of acrylic (I think its Caron's Simply Soft). I have another done in sage bamboo but need one more skein to finish it and of course all the shops here are out so I'll be ordering it online I think.

You know, I've discovered once you have used these softer yarns, the regular acrylics don't have the same appeal... I love yarn, but am becoming biased and now having favorites... I feel conflicted about that!

It was a pattern I bought online Craftsy. Love it! Very quick.. I think it takes me about 4 hours total to make one.

Susan, that is beautiful! You do such great work. I had to laugh at your post about feeling conflicted about yarns. I know the feeling. Then I got over it! I'm a complete yarn snob I think. I love those soft, specialty yarns! Not that I get to buy them often, but still...

Well, you know how much yarn I must have hidden all over the house... more than I even remember normally and yet I still browse at the stores and buy now and then. I found myself with almost 20 skeins in a cart last week because they were on sale and then reminded myself I literally have four big bins of yarn that I need to use up first!!! Seriously... I think I have enough craft supplies to take me well into retirement already!

Lol! I'm with ya! I have truly been trying to use up stash for some projects lately, but then as your progessing along, you end up running out of something and HAVE to go buy more! I have a couple of bins and I do want to use more of it. Although, there is something to say for when you pick up a special yarn and have it tucked away waiting for the right project. DD has been learning to use scissors lately, so I've been letting her have some of those old acrylic yarns to practice with. Makes a nice mess, but she loves it.

I am at least making some Christmas ornaments. In fact, I'm in a swap and I have to get them in the mail this week. Other than that, I would like to make a few other things, but we will see how far I get. I always have more projects than time!

What about you!?

Also more projects than time, and also running behind! Only one project is crocheted though - making a bunch of dishcloths.

I'm still making the cowls, just love them and had to get more soft solid yarn to do them with.

I could NOT believe it when I was in Wal-mart this morning. I was looking for something else in the craft department and went .
They have rearranged the yarn section and have added.................... phentex. Phentex! Why?!? Why?!? Why?!? Hideous stuff. I didn't bother counting, but probably something like 6-12 colours.

I don't think I've heard of phentex... Our WM barely carries any yarn at all anymore. Some Red Heart and Caron is it and maybe some of that cotton yarn for dishcloths...

Hello everyone! Are you decorating for Christmas?
