How hard can it be to count to four, double crochet three together, count to four, 3 double crochet in same stitch, and then repeat? I fear my future projects may be limited....
Bummer. Did you get very far into it? I find it's easier as I go along.

Darn it...<mumbling to self> lol!

Can anyone explain this to me? I have 3 crochet hooks that are plastic (I know! But it's all I could find at the time I needed them). I went to JoAnn's yesterday to replace them with metal. I found the L and N, but no P. Anyway, my plastic N hook is a 10mm. At JoAnn's I found a metal N by Boye in a 9mm and a metal N by Susan Bates in a 10mm. I don't get it! I bought the 10mm since it matched the plastic one I had, but why the difference??
Isn't it a pain that they can't find a unified system? I don't think I've ever seen a P in metal.

I used to do a lot more of doilies and even some children's clothes when my older kids (who are now 23 and 26) were toddlers, but since then have mostly done afghans, little items like toys/amigurumi, and lately mostly prayer shawls. I'm also hoping to learn to knit this summer too. Christina introduced me to a wonderfully soft bamboo yarn and I'm going to try using that to make some little sachets I saw on Lion Brand's free patterns, and am also working on some cotton potholders that are chickens that I saw recently.
Welcome. That bamboo yarn is so tempting.

LOL that's the way to work it. Pretties first then the practical stuff.

I'm making one of these bunnies. FYI They are larger then they appear, the head is about the size of a baseball.
Very cute.

Then he decided maybe I should stop making toys because if the dog gets a hold of them they will be an unidentifiable mess of yarn and fiberfill.
That's cool. What does hubby think you should make. LOL

Well, apparently I'm allowed to make toys again because I found a cute pattern for a rocket ship, UFO, alien, and robot.

Anyone do any felting with their crochet? I am giving it a go. I will be starting with a small change purse and see how that comes out. If that works out well, I may try some handbags or totes.

Hi. I did one felted handbag, but it was a knitted project. I was trying to push my comfort zone, lol. It was actually pretty ease. If I can find a pic I'll post it. Let us know how your felting goes!

Here is a link for Crochet Me, a community of Interweave. They are doing a Chain Reaction afghan project that sounds really neat. They are having different designers come up with a square and then creative folks like us can submit our fabulous designs, too.

Hi Christina -- Love the bunny in the avatar pic. What is it of?
I drove through Roanoke Sunday and thought of you moving soon!

Hello Ladies. How's everyone doing? I haven't done much crocheting lately. I did make a few cards though, which I hadn't done in ages.

Hi, Susan. The bunny is so cute. I snapped a photo of it at a local farm store. They made it mostly out of cantelope and a big cauliflower tail. He just looks so spring-y.... Yes, I'm excited about the move - although a little apprehensive I must admit. There is an awful lot happening at once.

Baby steps, literally!
My friends would always laugh at me because the minute I knew I was moving, I had boxes at the house and was already packing away stuff like books and movies that I wasn't going to need until after the move. And they were all numbered and labeled, and I had a list on the computer of what was in which box so that when I moved, I could access things right away if needed. Especially when I moved out here as I put my stuff into storage for 8 months so had to know which box was what!

For that matter, I still have some boxes in storage here that way... and I've been here over 3 years now!

I love to be organized! That's a great idea to make a contents list per box #. Hey, I've got my boxes ready in the garage. I've cleaned out and organized all the closets. Got a load for Goodwill already. Next, books, videos and packing up baskets. I've taken some pics down from the walls. We will be living in an empty house for a bit, but with baby due it NEEDS to be done. After this round of swaps, the craft room gets packed. However, the yarn stash and projects and books full of patterns - they will be sitting right here with me in an empty living room. Bliss.

Moving is good for cleaning, that's for certain.
Each time I've moved in the last several years, I've gotten rid of things and simplified. My crafts and movie collection are the only things that seems to increase. Between DH and I, we have over 1600 movies. (We're old movie buffs, that's how we met online.)
He has all his music (instruments, studio, etc.) and studies in his space; I have crafts. So we decided next house has to have two rooms that can be dedicated just to those and maybe can be used as guest rooms when needed.

Sounds like you are on a roll with it!

I know when we moved from IL to MO four years ago, I did a major pitch/pack/pass over the course of several months. We moved from a 11 room, 2-story Victorian to a smaller 2 bedroom ranch. My office and my craft rooms had to be condensed into 1 room (1/2 the space). It wasn't as hard determining what to keep as I thought. I just invisioned where stuff had to go in the new house and how much room I could allot for each 'subject'. I was making a trip to Goodwill every week with my Bravada full of stuff. We filled a big roll-off dumbster and we still manage to have stuff in a storage unit here. LOL But that's mostly the seasonal stuff like camping equipment and holiday decorations.

When downsizing the craft room, I divided what I wanted to keep into specific categories. Everything else got donated to a local Girl Scout troop.

I'm so disorganized now... I bought a quilting/sewing/embroidery machine this weekend and now have to consolidate my papercrafting enough to fit that in there too! Yikes!

My crochet items/yarn are all in plastic bin totes and tucked behind the loveseat in the living room. That way I always have it nearby and there just wasn't room elsewhere for it.

DH is really starting to fully grasp that I need a craft room of my own...

Oh, and its tax time so I had to pull out boxes of paperwork to go through and am trying to shred as I go. Its a mess at the moment, but there is hope!

Oh my, 4 hours in a doc office would drive me nuts. I like to keep books and crochet or paper projects in a ziploc in my car in those instances too.

I knew I was in for a long haul, so I planned for it. Trying to finish another of those little pink and brown totes I made. My mother really liked it so I'm making her one for Easter. Happy day, ladies!

I used some Caron yarn that was made from recycled plastic water bottles. It was decent.

The pattern I'm trying is where you actually cut up the thin plastic shopping bags you get from the grocery stores and such and those strips become the "Plarn" you crochet with a big hook into bags etc...

That is really cool. Share how it works out for you! I may have to try a little something when I have time.

They make great totes for picnics or shopping apparently. I have one about half done, just keep forgetting it behind the couch with the other UFOs.
The plarn is easy to make by those instructions and you just use a big crochet hook. I saw there was an article about a gal in NYC selling purses made from it for $75+! Now I have to find a niche like that!!!
