I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Hubby & I were crazy busy. We go to so many family get-togathers & we had houseguests from the 23rd till today. Let insanity reign. LOL

I've got some new posts up on my blog. Including a new scarf pattern.

Here is DD's poncho. I'm still working on the pig, I keep losing count on the rows and have to keep pulling them out. It's an even number of stitches down the row, with a half-double crochet 2 together on each end to reduce each row by 2, but I keep ending up with an odd number of stitches.
I also need to whip up another baby blanket to go with the pig.

That's lovely. I really need to put a poncho on my todo list.

I'm moving along on my ripple. On the 12th row.

My 101 class at Joann's wasn't the best, but I'm ready to try a scarf on my own. The directions start with a Mat Stitch. What is that? It describes the stitches to do then says 4 shells.

I have decided to crochet a baby sweater. Not sure I have ever done one. Lady at work is having granddaughter in May so I am going to make it for her. That is when I finish the blanket I am currently making.

No I have not heard of the Mat Stitch, but would be very interested in knowing about it.

Thanks Mary. The second link is the pattern I was trying to follow. LOL I abandoned if last night and am just doing double crochet. Pattern reading seems a little tricky to me right now. The first link is helpful to help me decipher.

Yes, it can be tricky, especially when beginning and even after many years of crocheting too! Hang in there, it will get easier.

Finished my first scarf. I won't tell you how long it took. Let's just say I redid sections several times when I noticed I hadn't finished a row. But it is a good feeling of accomplishment.

How advanced is it to make a matching cap?

Congratulations! I am sure you learned a lot just from finishing your first scarf.
I think you should go for the cap. That is how we all have learned, I am sure. Just keep reaching out further and further, and one day you will be very experienced. The web has a lot to offer now in regards to help. I still need to find new techniques from time to time.

Here is a site that has a lot to offer if you have the time. There is a lot of information on it.

Hi! http://www.crochetcabana.com/tutorials/index.htm has some good tutorials with a lot of helpful pictures. I'm sure you could start a ripple blanket or a granny square blanket from her instructions. If you don't want to join granny squares, you can make one big granny square blanket. Here's a tutorial for changing colors in a granny square: Changing colors.

also, youtube.com would most likely have videos of most stitch you would find in a pattern that you liked!

My favorite book for crochet and even knitting is Idiot's Guide to Knitting and Crochet. I have had it for years and it is great. I use it as a reference all the time.

Theknitwitch posts some great videos on You Tube. She goes slow several times. It's been helpful to see it. Tjw1963 is another lady who posts videos.

These animals just crack me up. I think I'll make a frog or dog next. Well, after I finish everything else on my list, anyway. I also signed up at ravelry, and found a knit/crochet group in my area. The good folks there said they'd even teach me to knit, although hanging out there with my crochet hook is fine too.

The piggie is to cute. That's cool that you found a group in your area. The closest I've found is almost an hour away from me.

Thanks for all the great reference info ladies.

Okay. Question, how many projects do you have going at once?? I have a scrap ripple afghan, a scrap hexagon afghan, & a snowflake garland, going right now. That's not including the bag of "might never get finished" UFOs.

Currently I only have one - a prayer shawl. Our church might be starting the ministry, if they do, I'll have a couple for them, if not, I'll give them to my MIL's church. I usually have at least 2 projects going at a time, but don't like it to be more than 4 (it drives me nuts to have too many UFOs).

I have 4 going at the moment.
A fine thread filet crochet bookmark (easy to pick up & take somewhere)
A Christmas "doilie" which I hope will become my tree skirt.
Some angel ornaments which are inteded to be a gift for someone next Christmas
My above mentioned, currently not-so-successful attempt at a teddy bear.

I added another project last night too. A zebra scarf for my 11 year old DD. I made her one a few years ago, but the width has really shrunk. I'm making this one extra wide. The temps are suppose to be below zero the next few days, so I better hurry!

I want to do a baby afghan and have my eye on a couple patterns, but waiting to know 'who' I'm carrying before starting one. I like to use rich colors, so I'll wait and see which way to go. Hopefully will find out tomorrow!

I usually have at least one project going for each craft type I enjoy - so I think I have four or five. Right now I have one crochet UFO, and am trying to learn to knit.

Good snowy day, everyone! (at least it is here! lol)
I've searched long and hard and canNOT find a good pattern for a dog sweater. Does anyone know of one? I knit better than crochet, but a pattern for either would work. I think my biggest problem is that my dog is pretty good size - a 70+ lb boxer/akita mix. Most of the sweater patterns I've found are for smaller dogs and I'm just not good enough with patterns to adjust for size.

Sounds cool. Do you have a pattern or do you just make stripes?

How'd it go? Pink or blue?
