Default 100th day of school items to WEAR!!!

OK, so Friday is the 100th day of school for my kindergartener. As a former teacher I understand the importance of counting to 100 during that year, but get this "assignment":

He has to WEAR 100 of the same thing on his body on Friday! WTH??!!

They mentioned stickers or ponytail holders or ziploc bags pinned to his body.

So, I guess (??!!) Thursday night we will be counting Cheerios into bags to pin to his body on Friday. So, we'll be ruining a shirt and let's see if they actually stay on during the bus ride to school.

I'm all for being creative and I'm sure it will make a cute picture, but to have to wear it to school????!!!! Geesh....

Hmm..that's different!
I know the local elementary school does the 100th day thing too! Makes me wonder if they have to wear 100 things on that day!
The cheerios is a cute idea! I was thinking about paperclips or buttons. Maybe even get an old t-shirt and paint 100 dots on it!

I would get an old t-shirt (or buy a cheap one) and do a simple stitch to hold on life savers or something...or do 100 stiches that make the number "100"?? something that doesn't include food...

painting 100 dots is a great idea...or hot glue 100 pencils....something school related...

My son had to glue 100 things on a poster - we did gogglie eyes in all sizes, it turned out really cute.

You could sew 100 buttons or rubber bands on a shirt or pin 100 safety pins on the shirt (and then beg your child to leave them pinned shut).

Why not do something not quite so fragile? Like a necklace made of paper clips? Or string 100 small rubber bands on a cord and tie it on his wrist?

Anything but fragile Cheerios.

Why not just embroider 100 on a shirt/t-shirt ?

Maybe you could string the Cheerios on a piece of yarn to wear around his neck.

OOOHH, that's a great idea!!! The kids love to paint. I'll have to buy some fabric paint, I guess.

There's no way I'm sewing 100 buttons on a shirt, though!!!!!

Thanks for sparking my creativity....

Where I taught, they had to bring in 100 items. Much more realistic....IMHO.

You're welcome! You came to the right place for creativity..even if it wasn't for stamping/scrapping!

Great ideas!! OK, so who wants to come over and help teach me how to sew.....

I think we'll make a necklace!!! Both boys could use the fine motor work and then if we make a Fruity Cheerio necklace, he can eat it (gross, but he's a boy) for snack!!

We don't get 100 days in junior high
However, the K-2 do count the 100 days and do the celebration thing. The grade 1&2 teachers use the counting all year to do place value. When they have ten days, they bundle & carry etc.
I love the k's 100 days celebration. They always do 100 snacks. The teachers usually bring in bags of things like pretzels, mini marshmallows etc. The kindergarten kids actually count out their 100 snacks into a ziploc bag. The teacher usually has 10 different items and they count out ten of each into their baggie. The kinders seem to love it.

One of my daughters made a visor one year when she needed to make something to wear. We bought a visor and a whole bag of stick-on jewels. She got to count out 100 jewels and stick them all on. She loved it and still wears it sometimes, two years later.

My other daughter's best one was a "glue 100 things to some poster board" project. She wanted to use pictures of herself. So we went out to our digital photos on the computer, clicked on 100 of them, then printed them as index prints - the little tiny pictures. She cut them all out and glued them on the poster.

My all-time favorite that someone else made - 100 doll shoes glued on a poster board! All of those pesky Barbie and other tiny shoes littering your house? Gone!

What about an old t-shirt, use craft ink, and stamp his favorite stamp randomly all over the shirt 100 times?

At our school, the kids each bring 100 food items (raisins, fruit loops, malteeser's, etc) and they get mixed together into a great big bowl. Then everyone gets a scoop of the mix. My DD willl miss it this year and she is pretty devastated by it.

In my son's grade 1 class, they made a vest out of a paper bag, and it was sent home and we are to find 100 things to glue on it so they can wear it to school. I'm considering buying stickers from the dollar store and having him stick them all on! I'll have to see if he has anything in mind himself, though.

My favorite would be a necklace made out of a hundred fruitloops - certainly something a kindergartener could do.

Have fun with it.

My friend helped her kids make shirts. They took a white T and glued (glitter glue) items on a shirt! Her little girl used foam flowers and such and beads etc and her boy used little football and baseball buttons. They were really cute of course they will not be able to wash and wear again but they were way cute!

A guy I work with - his kids had to do this. He took leftover Halloween candy (LOL) and put 10 pieces in 10 plastic bags and pinned them to his shirt. I didn't know this was something a LOT of schools did!!

Maybe you could use safety pins with beads on the pins. Take pliers and open up the curl at the end. Then slide the beads on the other side and then use the pliers to crimp it shut again. Then you can just pin the pins on the shirt.

Stringing beads in colors (10 of each different one) to make 100 is fun. You can use boondoggle to string them on. l love the idea of making a t-shirt-- I may use that with my first grade class. Have fun!

My daughter did this last Thursday. She strung 100 beads on a string and wore it as a necklace. She actually used some beads with #'s and letters and spelled out 100 beads on it.

My kindergardener has 100 day tomorrow. They have to put 100 things on their hat. Last year we did 100 pieces or ribbon. It was cheap curling ribbon and we had it coming out the top. This year we hot glued 100 pieces of a jigsaw puzzle on a hat. The hat and the 100 piece puzzle both came from the dollar store ($2 total!!). Of course, I burned my finger on the hot glue, as always. It's cute - -the hat, not my finger. (He's doing kindergarden twice for those of you counting along at home).

How about taking a plan white t-shirt and having your son create a picture on the front with his own finger print. How many letters does his name have? He could make his name out of finger prints. Use a different color of ink for each group of 10. Can you tell I teach 2nd grade? Happy Holidays.

I teach Kinder, and the "100th day" is a big day for us. Here are some cute projects I've had come in:
t-shirt with the number 100 painted/stamped on it, or made of buttons
100 buttons on a shirt (although alot of work)
100 pennies glued in the form of the number 100 onto cardboard (to be carried in our parade)
necklaces with 100 objects (beads, cereal, etc)...use colors to make it into a pattern (great Kinder concept)
100 fingerprints (10 hands stamped) on a shirt
poster with 100 stickers on it (shaped into the number 100 or a child's name)

Hope some of these spark ideas for you....
