Default Homeschool EOG testing

Do any of you have to do End of Grade testing? NC requires us to test and I incorrectly assumed that we didn't have to test unitl next year when standardized testing begins. Now I have to find the proper test and order it, plus find someone to administer it to DD.

So my question is: Which test do order? I'm so confused by the options.

I order the Iowa test out of BJU Press. We have lived in NC for nearly 5 years and used it each year. EOG's are not required in NC, just a standardized test of some sort. HTH!

See that's where the law is wishy washy. It states that homeschooled children grade 2-12 must take an end of the year assesment, but it's not specific as to which one and standardized testing does not start til 3rd grace in public schools. Also, the public schools here took standardized testing in March and will be taking EOG/EOC next week. Why take both? It makes no sense.
I looked at BJU and the testing site says I need to become a registered test administrator or know someone who is~ I don't. To become a RGT, I need to have a degree~ I don't. I'm also quite confused about which test I would order.
I've looked at the California test, but I'm not sure which is better..California or Iowa.

This is the part of homeschooling that I hate, struggling through vague info and learning things myself (sometimes the hard way!).

Both the CAT, ITBS, and SAT (Standford Achievement) are suitable for testing - all are nationally normed whereas the state tests are not. Though I think there are more stringent requirements to use the SAT. The state tests are reflective of state level curricular mandates whereas the others are not - they test what any child in the US should know. Tutoring centers (i.e. Sylvan) generally can do this for you for a fee. I have a friend in NC who uses this place for testing products: Bayside School Services - Bayside School Services

I know with the CAT you do not have to have a degree so you could go with that one. Just a thought...
We have sent ours to the NC Dept. of Homeschool Ed. for 5 years and never had an issue. I think quite a bit of the "vague info" should be made clearer...but what can you do
