I make these for a neighbor who gives them to all of her grandkids & greatgrands, there are 14 in all. She likes the traditional envelope with the oval in the center. In the past, I used a plastic template. This year, I decided it was easier to make my own with the paper trimmer and scorpal. I used an idea similar to the link here:

I modified it to be bigger. I cut the paper 7 x 8.5. Turn paper "landscape" and score in from each end at 2.75. Your middle section will be 3" and your ends will be 2.75each. I then cut away and scored .5 in for the small end flaps. Hopefully my dimensions and explanation will make sense when you look at the link. Hope that helps!
