PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE 5 - TASK 3 (Oct. 2012)

Hello friends! Are you ready for the third installment of this month's progressive challenge? The pages in the gallery this month are outstanding so far! I'm so glad you all decided to play!

PLEASE NOTE! Although this is in the digiscrap threads, anyone is welcome to play--whether they're a digi, paper or hybrid scrapper. Just as the digiscrappers sometimes have to change up the instructions a little to fit their digi needs when doing a traditional challenge, the "traditional" scrappers might have to improvise on some of the digi techniques. It should make things interesting!

Don’t know what a Progressive Challenge is? Go here to learn.

PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE #5 – TASK 3
(OCT.2012)

  • Add a poem or quote of one line or more. Do some sort of highlighting to one or more words. (Bolding, different shadowing, glow, change color or opacity, you get the idea!)
  • Add at least two journaling strips with journaling.
  • Include some stitching somewhere on your page.

NOW UPLOAD:

- Remember to first save your page in its original version to maintain your layers, so you'll be able to make additions in the final Task 4.

- Save your page for the web as a .jpg (600x600 or less) & upload to the Challenge
5-Task 3 Gallery by adding the keyword DGSCPR005Task3 when you upload. Please also post a link to this week’s work in this thread.

FeetCheck Task 3 Challenge

Here's the changes for Task 3, which I added definition of 'Kindness" next to Nurse Paula, added the bird, removed 2 of the 4 feet impressions, added stitching around border, added journalling tag. Still getting the hang of it all

Thanks for First three challenges

Here is the 3rd one

basketballmom 10-17-2012 08:44 PM

This is going to take some time ... I have sat for 30 minutes trying to figure out journalling to write for the Loreen layout. It ends up being mushy ... or dumb ... or something that just sounds weird.

Luv2Smile 10-18-2012 03:04 AM

Gail I am sure it is going to be great. I have to only add 5 bullets to my journal and its still blank LOL

Say what you feel and remember. It's your story about the photos and sometimes mushy is your story. That's what makes your pages genuine, I think. It's also a clue to your family in generations to come about who you were and what makes you tick.

That's what's hard. The photo is my husband's mother ... she died when he was 10. So I only know her through his memories. Yet when I look at this photo, I see my daughter. There's just something almost magical in the photo ... maybe it's because it's from before she had 5 children, over a span of 15 years.

I guess I just wrote my journalling, eh?

i am struggling. i have my quote of course. its tough to journal about plants! my husband really needs to take more pictures of the kids, the dogs, something. plants are more agreeable subjects. they will sit patiently while he sets up the tripod, works on the exposure and composition, the rest of us just wanna say cheese and move on!

since these are all going in a book for him, i want the journaling to be something meaningful for him. i had originally thought if there were any text, it would be quotes, bible verses, etc. i can probably journal something about the place he took the pic. he doesnt get the whole scrapping concept. secretly he would just like a bound book of his photos!

Toucan Scraps 10-19-2012 08:18 AM

thank you, I'm really enjoying this and look forward to the next set of instruction.

My son is the same...once I pry the photo out of him...we'll he just rools his eyes at the rest of it...BUT he was looking for a photo that I had scrapped and really liked that I had added what he told me about what he was thinking when he took the photo...I should say I physically have to pry journaling out of him...but now I think he is starting to like it...I do mention lighting conditions but not aperature settings

3Fries - OCT 2012 Task 3 Place of Peace by 3Fries - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

My Task 3 page. Had to change my mind on a couple things - and maybe will change it again. Decisions, decisions!

lori92760 10-20-2012 09:01 AM

finally

i am embarrassed to admit how many hours i worked on this. the stitching and getting it to look fairly realistic stumped me. I actually journaled, more or less! i wanted a stitching "action" i bought three different digtal stitching things and they all required some tweaking. i guess i wanted magic, push a button and wha la!

i'm off to look at the gallery.

FMcrafter 10-20-2012 09:12 AM

I don't think we should be embarrassed..each of us has their own skills and learns at their own pace ..me I feel like a beginner with all the great layouts

lori92760 10-20-2012 10:08 AM

i do graphic stuff for church and for work when we need it and my boss says why dont you go to school for this? i think who the heck would ever hire such a slow worker! egads! i'd have to work 70 hours a week, at least!

I know what you mean, Lori. I've always done a lot of graphic work for clubs and work. I'm slow too. I have something in mind, and am not happy until I accomplish what I want. Often that takes considerable time. And it's why I usually use elements from many kits for one page. :)

Luv2Smile 10-21-2012 05:48 AM

lori - when you find that 'magic' button send it my way because i really need it your work is great!

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who STRUGGLES w/the journaling

beetle76 10-22-2012 05:41 PM

It still took me all week but this was a much easier task than last week ;-). Looking forward to the next task.

lori92760 10-22-2012 05:42 PM

pattie,

i do have some actions that really do work like magic. whoever designs these things are brilliant. on the other hand, i've purchased a few that i think, good lord, did anyone test this before releasing it? oh well, its only a few bucks.

basketballmom 10-22-2012 08:55 PM

still working on the last one. It'll get done. eventually. I promise.

lori92760 10-22-2012 09:51 PM

i was hoping to get a jump start on tomorrows task.

my daughter who lives 2 hours away and lives alone called about 10pm. she'd been to immediate care and they think its her gallbladder--see a specialist. she'd been having some issues and now its reaching critical mass and she has to do something, see someone and what can i do from here? she has a little dog who she has to walk because he's a little poop and refuses to poop when he's on his tie out in the yard, just sits on the stoop. so she has to walk him before bed. so we get off the phone amd she's going to walk him and i asked her to text me when she was back home safe. 15 minutes later she calls me and says her block is crawling with police, the house across the street was broken into. do i think she should get mace? i dont even own a gun and i think, no, no i think you should go for a walk dressed like g.i. joe, with machine guns and bulllets criss crossing your body, knives, helmet, you name it. her whole little subdivision is owned by the seminary, you'd think she be safe their.

you'd think i'd be able to sleep thru the night after 26 years. i laugh when i hear a new mom say "i'll be so glad when we can all sleep thru the night again" i think , just keep kidding yourself. soooooooooooooo, i thought i would work on the next task! guess i'll fix a cocktail and read...

basketballmom 10-23-2012 10:52 AM

oh lori - how hard for you!
this 'mom at a distance' thing is difficult!

I'm doing my best to avoid reading the instructions for the final task until I get task 3 done for my 'fall/leaves' layout.

But I want to get Loreen finished.

wendella247 10-23-2012 01:52 PM

Sorry I didn't get the final task posted early. Sometimes I have it ready the night before, but not this time! Also sorry to hear about your DD's situation. You're right, parents don't stop worrying about their kids just because they're "grown up." Hope everything turns out OK for her with the gallbladder.

she has a doctors appt tomorrow. she has moved around so, its been hard to establish a regular doc. mostly its immediate care. today she sounded better, not so nervous. i will always be nervous, god just hardwired me for that!

basketballmom 10-24-2012 01:23 PM

Finally quit talking and got to work. Both layouts are done and in the gallery.

You're welcome, Terri--I knew you'd be up to the task! Your biggest dilemma with my challenges is I make you add more than you'd normally add--you're the queen of less is more!!! I love how you arranged your page, though, and am so glad you played! ;)
