October 2015 Progressive Scrap Challenge - Task 1 (10-06-15)
It's time for the October progressive scrap challenge! The month of October is special for both TrishG and me--it's BIRTHDAY MONTH for both of us! :p
I got an early birthday "gift" -- I've been summoned for jury duty tomorrow (Wed.)! Guess it's a good thing progressive challenges get posted on Tuesdays!
For this month's page, please plan to set aside one main photo (approx. 4" x 6") and between 2 & 4 smaller photos (approx. 2.5" x 3.5" rectangular or 3" x 3" square). We'll use the photos in an upcoming task.
TASK 1
Actually, Task 1 consists of only one step, but you should have fun making choices:
-Select at least six (yes, at least 6!) layers for the background of your page, meshing them into one finished layer by blending, lowering opacity, sizing etc. You may use overlays, masks, elements, various papers, words, borders, edges, etc., etc.
For some reference, here is a Chart showing the 8 layers I used. Of course, if you're a paper scrapper, you won't be able to do this in the same way, so non-digiscrappers may interpret this task, creating their background, in any way they'd like.
The keyword for this month is DGPROG15Oct. Please upload to the gallery and also post a link here!
Looking forward to seeing your pages progress!
And don't forget, VSBN is this weekend, starting on Friday!!
I'm curious, how long did it take you to get your eight layers done just the way you wanted them??
Interesting challenge, I will have to give it some thought!!
That's an interesting question, Sharon. Let me think...
I'd say about an hour or so. All except for the lighthouse photo which was an afterthought after I had developed my idea for the journaling I'd be adding. I used the search feature in Windows which helps me find things I wanted in my digiscrap folder/subfolders, such as color of paper, chevrons, brick, writing, etc. One can find such things provided the items are tagged or named with names that correspond with my search word(s). My experience in Photoshop Elements is a big help, since I also know how to do the reduced opacity, etc., which doesn't come overnight!
Sure hope you decide to play, Sharon; you're always so creative at finding ways to translate digi to paper!! :p

Not sure what time zone you're in or when you'll get this but HAPPY BIRTHDAY (on the 8th) Wendy! Hope you have a great day!
Thanks again for being willing to do the October Progressive challenge!

Trish, it's in the third paragraph of my post--just before the words TASK 1.

Do you know approximately how many photos this page will be good for?

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Trish. I'm 3 hrs. behind EST (soon, though, it will be 2 hrs. since Arizona doesn't observe DST.)
I know you're an October baby too--what day is your birthday?

Sorry, I hadn't been able to take time to properly read the challenge yet. Thanks for making it perfectly clear now!
--Mine is the 16th.
