Well, I did make 10 to 12 each month of the same design - so after I would get what I wanted then it was easy to do an assembly line for the rest! For some reason doing Christmas cards is so motivating for me!!! LOL - Love doing them! I;ve got my January cards already done!

that how I do my christmas cards too. I like to do a "cookie cutter" design. It takes me SOoooo long to pick out my paper and colors and stamps, then trying to figure out how I'm going to lay it out. OMGoodness....I better make a bunch. my first year of christmas cards I tried to do a different card for everyone. Oh that was just so stressful. I never did get them all done and it just wasn't fun. So that's when I went to this method. Its now fun again. this year I took pictures of all my cards and made a list of who I sent each card to so I want to duplicate any of my designs I won't send it to the same person. I think I read that on here somewhere's. GREAT IDEA-whomever it was. I have 9 of my 10 cards done for January. YEAH...almost there.

I hadn't done the picture/ list thing but I when I do make my cards, I make them in batches of 10-12. The other thing I do is make them by 'batch' for a particular group. So my needlework group will all get the same style of card - though the color or design might be a bit different, or my quilting group.
But yeah, there is no way I could make them so individualized. They all have my personal touch.

LOL I'd rather be sitting on top of the mountain watching the snow fall WHILE I work on cards

oh kelly that is a GREAT idea, but I really don't think my mom would go for that. She'll make up an excuse like her glue will freeze up (like what happened to vicki). Not that where I'm at its cold enough for that.

But mom, we have to do some of those things to keep my husband happy, that way we can make more cards. Play nicey, nice then scrap, scrap, scrap....LOL.

Welcome Stamper1379. VikkiJo is hard at work and should be back on Friday to add you to the list (unless she can get some computer time in between UPS customers)

Hi, I'd like to sign up please. I signed up for 2010 but unfortunately lost over 10 years worth of craft materials in a garage fire and have had to start again. Not as much fun as it sounds I promise you! I am GOING TO make a Christmas card when I make someone's birthday card next year, I keep saying it but next year I am going to. I hope everyone has an awesome Christmas and 2011.

Good morning, Angie

I made it through March so I'm not too far off from you.

Just remember to check in here at least once a week. If you're checking in, you're more motivated to participate, I think. When you 'feel' a part of a group, you want to play.

Vikki will add you to the list tomorrow or Sat. In the mean time, be thinking about your Jan. card. You can begin posting them any time.

Oh Deb, how horrific for you! ::: huge hug:::

Did you have everything listed for insurance? I'm working on an article about that now. If you didn't then, hopefully you'll begin putting one together as you accumulate new stuff. Prayers something like that never happens again but the Girl Scout in me keeps whispering - Be Prepared.

I think making a Christmas card for a person when you make their birthday (or even anniversary) card is an AWESOME tip! As I suggested to Angie, just keep taking part in the thread. It's great motivation to keep going!

Please sign me up for five cards per month. I'll try to do more, but I think I'll set my expectations lower this year. If I can do extra, I'll have some to donate - OR if I only get to March, like I did last year, at least I'll have 15 cards made!

So I did not do this last year cuz I had made so many the year before and being a smart alec I thought I would have enough. I would just have to make a few. WRONG!!!!! I have been scrambling all month. I am going to do 5 cards a month most months and a couple of months I will do ten and that should be enough.

I am like a lot of posts here in that I made the same design each month. Makes it easier and quicker. Thanks for having this thread again.

TGIF! And the start of vacation.

Are you guys saying that every month you'll make the same cards as you did the prior months or just that each month you'll make the same cards for that month?

My plan is to make a different card each month, but all the cards I make for that month will be the same. Or at least very similar. I have a hard time making cards exactly alike. So by next Christmas I will have 6 cards of each of eleven different designs. Well, at least that's the goal! lol

Well that sounds like good plan, but I'm always making a birthday card at the last second too. You would think with a whole box full of cards I could find one I had on hand that would be appropriate, but I never do.

Thanks ScrappinCEO, no unfortunately I didn't have insurance. We'd complained about the electricity in the garage for a while but the landlord didn't do anything about it.

Well that is the plan, hopefully being accountable to the list will keep me a bit more on track as I can be quite a slacker sometimes LOL

I'm just trying to work out how to put up the cards I have made!

Yes, I make 8 similar cards each month so I end up with a manageable assortment. I also have a list - a spreadsheet type - with the card design number on the top and the names on the side. Then I put a checkmark in the corresponding boxes. It's not as much work as it sounds like as I copy it from year to year, just adding a few new names.

I've done my cards the CCC way for two years. I spend quite a bit of time deciding on the right design, colors, paper, etc. Then I make 8 cards. I also try to vary the theme from month to month, so I have a good mix of red, green, blue, white, etc. And a good mix of techniques from CAS to heat embossing or some other new technique I've learned. I've said it before, but I get so many good ideas from the CCC gallery!

Three years ago I just made a card then decided whether I liked it enough to make more like it. I ended up with about 20-25 different designs, and didn't like a number of them. This year, I liked all the cards I made. So I didn't have to decide who was going to get the ones I didn't like as much. ha!

Just popping in to say Hi. Spent all day shopping and what not with hubby yesterday and didn't get home til late.

I'm like you Val... I'd rather have 8 -12 designs I really like in abundance than have a bunch I'll never use.

I know I have signed up for the last 2 years and seem to not be able to finish for one reason or another. But I would really like to try again. I liked the idea to check in weekly and that would keep me motivated. I hope you will let me join again. Kathy

I wish! Bob and I just spent the past 2 hours putting the new work surface into place. All this free space to work - Oh My!

But today I'm finally motivated to get the Christmas cookies done for all of the gift boxes. Guess it's about time, huh?
