Default How do I qualify for Freebies?

Hey Deb. Great question.

When you meet your goal each month (and post to that month's thread you've done so), your name goes into a drawing for an envelope of goodies. Usually images, themed DP, embellies, you can use for future months.

Vikki Jo keeps track of the monthly postings, randomly draws a name within a couple days following the end of the month and will ask for your snail mail so I can pop it in the mail to you.

Well it will keep me on track if nothing else.

I'm interested to see how creative I can be will minimal craft stash and not the tones and tones I used to have.

What's your Christmas card style?

Mine is definitely cute and uncluttered.

Anything with cute animals I'm a sucker for and even though Christmas here is in the middle of summer for some reason I have quite a thing for Snowmen and penguins of course. I love Christmas trees and baubles too.

I love colour and try to use different combinations. A favourite is brown paper (like lunch bag paper) bright red and white, looks fantastic. I also made some navy blue and orange cards a year or two ago which everyone loved.

I’m a bling girl so I love anything that is shiny and sparkly, ribbon is a favourite as well as brads.

Anyone else?

Great question Deb.

I'm not a 'cutsie' kind of gal. My style is simple. But last night I ordered a book off Amazon called Delight in the Details. It's about taking your work from basic to WOW!.

My color combinations seem to go everywhere. I find my Christmas cards going Sage/ Cream or Blue/ white. Yep. Love the bling but I only use it on cards I know will be truly appreciated. Otherwise I use a less expensive version, like stickles.

Basically, there are no rules. And everyone needs a jumping off point to get the creative juices flowing. It might be a piece of DP, someone else's card or enhancing a store bought.

Look for those .10 boxes after Christmas and you'll be set to go!

I don't know that I have a favorite Christmas color combo, but I generally do not use traditional red and green unless I am trying to use up old embellishments. Hunter and burgundy, pink and green, blue and white, ivory and gold are some of the combos I used this year.

Oh Jane - I've been rumbling for the past few weeks....I was finally recovered enough to get back down the basement abour 5 weeks ago...and was met with a mess. I'm an SU hobby demo and had continued to order all my minimums to maintain the demoship. So all that stuff had to be put away. Then I had to get ready for the Christmas Stack a Stamp...we will be doing 5 cards each of 6 designs. I have 4 prepared...so I better get moving on the other 2!! This will be held the Saturday after Thanksgiving...and I have to make the November and December birthday cards yet!!!!

It felt so good to get back down there...I hadn't realized how much I have missed being down there....Now..I just need to stay unbroken!! LOL

Sorry - when I put my name down, I forgot to say how many I'll do per month - I'll do 6 per month as that worked perfectly for me this year. Thanks.

joining this time, last year got away from me with too many things happening at once, but I hope to be back in my craft room on a more regular basis this coming year, unless of course we move like hubby keeps talking about ...

i agree, I did it a couple of years ago and was so relieved come December, but due to way too many things this year, lots of unexpected trips, car accident and still recuperating from it, I am behind and wonder if I will even get them done for this year, but I usually pull through, and I think I have a stash of 30 leftover or more from years prior as well, so I might be in better shape than I think, but next year, I really want to use my stuff, besides the more I use the less I have to move, in theory -right??

Happy weekend ladies! Hope you all got some crafting done....

I did a bit a baking today. Tried a recipe for sweet potato pie...it was very good...so come Wednesday I'll be baking 2 pumpkin pies and 2 sweet potato pies for Thanksgiving dinner at my older brothers home!

Did get into the craft room last night and today: made one card and cut paper to make 30 of them - (my Christmas stamp a stack is the Saturday after Thanksgiving - 5 cards each of 6). So I now have 5 of the 6 cards designed and cut and in their kits!

And cut paper for about 20 Christmas cards for me! Hoping to get them together tomorrow!!!

And made 4 birthday cards that have to go postal tomorrow!!!!

So what has everyone else been doing???

Aloha, Vikkijo,
I had such a wonderful time with CCC11, that I must sign up for CCC12.
This was the first challenge I had ever done and it "forced" me to start my gallery.
I am so happy I have over 100 cards ready to be mailed.
Thanks for all the inspiration in 2011! Looking forward to doing 10 a month again in 2012!

You have been busy. I have a three-day weekend. I did some Christmas shopping on Friday. Had some errands to run yesterday and fixed a nice dinner for DH's hunting partner and his family. I haven't made a sweet potato pie in a long time. They are good.

If anyone is interested, here is the recipe from Cooking Light Magazine. I will tell you that I did NOT use the fat free/low fat stuff - I used all regular ingredients since this is for a holiday......

1 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes
1/3 cup fat-free milk
1 (14-ounce) can fat-free sweetened condensed milk, divided
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 (14.1-ounce) package refrigerated pie dough (such as Pillsbury)
Cooking spray
1/2 cup (4 ounces) 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
[*]1. Preheat oven to 350.[*]2. Wrap potatoes in aluminum foil. Bake potatoes at 350 for 1 1/2 hours or until tender, and discard foil. Let stand 10 minutes; peel. Place flesh in a large bowl; discard skins. Mash flesh with fork. Stir in fat-free milk, 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk, sugar, butter, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Stir in eggs.[*]3. Fit dough into a 9 1/2-inch pie plate coated with cooking spray. Press dough against bottom and sides of pan. Fold edges under, and flute. Spoon sweet potato mixture into prepared crust. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until set.[*]4. Place the remaining 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and cream cheese in a medium bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until combined. Add 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk to cheese mixture; reserve remaining milk for another use. Beat at medium speed until well blended. Carefully pour cream mixture evenly over pie. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut into wedges

Sounds yummy! And go you on getting started on those cards!

Right now I'm in Nashville for 3 days visiting the grandbabies. The oldest turns 4 tomorrow. Just doesn't seem possible I'll spend most of Thursday in my studio since it's just hubby and I for dinner.

I am so happy I have over 100 cards ready to be mailed.
Thanks for all the inspiration in 2011! Looking forward to doing 10 a month again in 2012!
Wow! That is awesome. And we're glad to have you back

Carol, thanks for that recipe. It sounds great! I would use the real stuff, too...no point in wasting all that effort for diet food!!

Im a bling girl so I love anything that is shiny and sparkly, ribbon is a favourite as well as brads.

Anyone else?
I will think on this one for a bit! Good question!!

LOL
Pretend the orders all just came!
I've rolled around the thoughts of doing a SAS but just can not wrap my head around all the details!

I am back!!! Right now I have no broken bones!!! And, I do plan on staying that way during 2012 (please say a prayer or two for me...)....

So, I am in for 10 cards per month beginning in January!!!!!
Shh don't say that! If you are anything like me that's bad luck!
I break something or require stitches at least once a year. I have dislocated my should twice now... recovering right now for the second time!
All cuz i reached in the backseat to grab my purse .. which hurt, then the same day had a dispute with the dumpster at work. Final straw!
MRI is on Tuesday.
Only issue (besides the pain) is my hand keeps falling asleep, so making a card takes more time than normal.
