Thanks Marge. You're right about the plumbers and electricians. But it was nice knowing it was taken care of right, and not having to shell out $3-400 when something needed doing.

It is nice to have someone with that ability around. I guess the alternative is I can take classes at Home Depot and I can be that person!

HOLY FREAKING COWS!!! Crazy freak accident at the Daytona 500.

They use helicopter engines mounted on trucks to blow debris off the track and to dry the track if it's wet from rain.

There was a truck blowing debris off while the race was under caution. One of the racecars went by, malfunctioned, and hit the truck right in the jet engine. The car and the jet engine burst into flames.

Luckily, the car separated from the truck, and no one was seriously injured. They've red-flagged (stopped) the race to prevent any further mishaps from this event. But the 200-ish gallons of jet fuel were burning for a good five minutes before they were put under control.

So to help clean the fuel that was spilled on the track, now they are sprinkling powdered Tide laundry detergent on the track and washing it off with the hoses from the fire trucks. So bizarre.

This race has got to be the freakiest one yet.

They have 40 laps left and it's past 11 on the east coast!

We had it one before we left then got home and everything's stopped and drivers are talking and it took us a little bit to figure out what happened. Crazy!!!!

And of course we had anticipated watching House tonight, it was supposed to be new. But when we knew the race started late, we knew House wouldn't be on, or maybe a rerun, because it was already past 8 on the east coast, and they won't show it new just in one time zone.

IMO its definitely the most bizarre Daytona 500 ever. It's the first time the race has had to be postponed for rain. It was originally rescheduled for noon eastern time today, but because of rain this morning it was delayed again to 7:00 pm. So it's the first ever Monday night NASCAR race.

And now they are keeping their eye on a rain cell in the area.

But they are calling the drivers back to their cars now. They've been parked on the backstretch for the last about 90 minutes because of the fire.

Midnight my time or yours? LOL

They put a sealant on the asphalt where the fire was, and it's curing. So they hope to be able to restart pretty soon. Then 40 laps around a 2.5 mile track at approx. 190 mph... Um, you do the math.

Yeah DH and I figured it would take about half an hour to do 40 laps or 100 miles. I guess slightly over. IF there are no more yellows!!!

I started tuning out the commercials about the 7th time I heard the idiotic Pizza Hut "best of all, the 10 Dollar Dinner Box is only 10 bucks!" commercial.

Pure advertising genius there, I tell you.

Yes, ODS and I are still watching. He just said, "Lucky West Coast people, it's only 9:00 there."

He better not fall asleep in school, lol.

The cars are moving again now, still under caution though. 37 to go, they'll throw the green flag again in two more laps.

I'm not too concerned about watching the victory lane celebration stuff, especially if one of the two current leaders wins. Kenseth and Biffle are about as interesting as watching paint dry.

And now they are having a bit of fog roll in.

Another wreck lap 198. So they'll go into extra laps to try to get a green flag finish.

Oh geez. I wasn't making much sense that late!

Obviously, they're going to finish with the checkered flag, not the green. What I meant was that the race would stay green until the checkered flag was waved. NASCAR will add laps to a race in order to ensure that.

And to clarify a bit - I do not dislike either Matt Kenseth or Greg Biffle. Matt ended up winning last night. He seems like a nice person; when they interview him after he's caught up in an accident he's usually more apologetic to his crew for not keeping his car out of the wreck, rather than talking badly about the person who caused the wreck. And he races cleanly. But he's just pretty boring to listen to when he speaks.
