Then came Shadow. Now I always get plastic.

At least you're using them!

The excuse used around here is that people don't value them and the are a litter problem.

BFF has been bringing me her plastic bags lately!

I did find baggies for my trash cans through the house, figured it out and they're just over four cents a bag.

MO, don't forget if we drive up - you'll see the other email - if we go up the coast, it's further, then come back the short way, but they're so far apart... BFF2 led me to believe 101 was closer to I-5 than it is. hmmm

So what if you stop the car a mile from the border and walk over?

Look at that - Pelican State Beach in CA, 500 feet south of the border.

We could go there and stay there overnight and walk up and into Oregon, picnic....

*sigh*

So do I trust the Subaru enough to take it? Not without the oil leak getting fixed first.... And that isn't going to happen til DD's break (it's a very slow leak) which is after MO's visit....

And you know they have trackers so you can't just say you drove all over the state but not into another one.....
Sneaky little poo heads... sigh.

We could always drive just up TO the border, walk the last 10 feet, have a picnic on the other side of the sign and get free mileage, right? Fight sneaky with sneaky? LOL...

I'm just wondering--do they track the mileage by day or is it just overall for the week? If it's overall for the week, we might be better off renting the car for a couple of extra days--the extra days might cost less than paying the mileage. Although I'd have to do the math--still might not be enough.

Don't know if the Honda's an option--I drive stick if it is. Either way, I'm VERY happy to pay for the car--it's the least I can do!

Crazy looking at the map of Northern CA. No wonder it's sparsely populated. You know if you fold the state in half, San Jose is right about at the fold?

But we're called "Northern California" - I guess because the rest of northern California doesn't have many peeps.

He asked why I didn't want to take my Subaru. I didn't even mention DD going to school, I said I didn't trust it, with a slow oil leak, on a long trip in the middle of nowhere.

Um, where do you think Molly and Sonny get their dog bags, LOL?

Same here... I go through the bags like mad since I clean up the yard every 2-3 days plus walks (is it bad that one thing I love about winter is I can do pickup early in the morning when everything's still frozen?).

Google maps says that from my house to Brookings, OR, just over the border on the coast, is 423 miles, and would take 7 hours 40 mins. That's without stopping to look anywhere. LOL

So basically a whole day.

Well if we go up the coast then cross over from Brookings to Ashland, OR, then down I-5 for home, we would go through Weeds.

So look at your Google Maps when you get bored.

San Francisco to Brookings, OR to Ashland, OR and back to Oakland. (Sort of)

I would love to come back down I-5, because then we'll go closer to Mt. Shasta....

I still think you've got the right idea with watching the weather and letting that dictate which route we take.

For all the kidding around, I will be SO happy to hang out with you and DH, meet DD and DS and get to see V and her family--and ERK and hers before I get there!!!! If OR trip works out that would be awesome but it will be an uber wonderful trip either way! I'm SO excited to be heading out there!!!

Wow if you zoom in on Weed, CA, it's fairly close to Mt. Shasta!
