It sounds like I can essentially make my own schedule. I'd likely work a full day on Fridays, which would require childcare for the kids on that day. I might be able to secure DS2 at his preschool for the entire day and some type of in home child care for the girls. I'm thinking I'd make zero dollars on that day, unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd do my work on the nights I was there during open clinic hours and DH would be home. I'd also probably do some weekend work to finish things up, likely before everyone is really up and moving on Saturdays.

I've been browsing around the website for the JMU Marching Royal Dukes and peeking at the info on the different sections of the band. One of the drill instructors has the last name of Saxman.
He's part of the saxophone section. Ferreals.

Just popping in to say hi.

Went for a nice dinner so DH could thank helpful neighbors.

No rain today, just very overcast and cool.

Lots of stuff to go through but hey, I'm making progress in one room, at least. DH does seem to recognize we'll need more than these two weeks.

DD is going to go to the Disney College Program in Orlando in Feb.

Yeah..a ton. I'm on a state level committee, two district level comm and the school council, plus the president of parent council. I'd schedule around all of those obligations, but probably drop back on some things next year.

Hit by a car or hit by a bullet or bow...still dead animal.

ETA: Deer get hit on the road here at an alarming rate....I'd guess you see one laying dead every few hundred feet on a highway. Some local group takes the animals if um, freshly hit, and cleans/processes the meat and donates to a homeless shelter. I think its great.

DH was on the 11am flight, which was delayed to 1pm, which was canceled. He then was put on the 1:31 flight in first class, which was canceled. The 330 flight was filled with other people from the 11am/1pm flight that didn't make the 131 cut. So, he is now scheduled on the 545 flight. Here's to hoping its not canceled. *sigh*

Flying United, btw

Coolest cabin furnishings!!! If I win the lottery and build my cabin in Homer, I'd do my best to make them (and the shipping company) rich!

I'd love to have one of those beds made of logs, and a nice red-and-black woolly blanket with a moose pattern to keep warm! With thick cotton flannel sheets...

As much as it sounds like a great opportunity, it sounds as though it will be hard not to be home. That sucks about the bills.

I'm glad you can do something that works so well with your schedule. That's a pretty amazing thing to have pop up when it did. It sounds like it will be a pretty tough schedule to keep, but I really admire the way you all pull together and support each other in making things work. That takes a lot of love. And a huge amount of energy, too, I'll bet.

That sounds like a good break! I'm looking forward to Columbus day. I'm sad to miss going to Atlanta this morning but after Molly's emergency vet bill, I have about $18 till I get paid on the 15th. Yay SOOOO glad I broke my discipline and charged stuff last weekend... NOT.

Fortunately Molly hasn't had a seizure since Monday night, which is a HUGE relief. That scared me to death. I spoke to my vet yesterday and again today and he agrees with emergency vet on waiting to see if it recurs instead of doing a lot more invasive and terrifyingly expensive tests.

It's scary enough going through a health crisis with a dog and not knowing how you'll pay the bills. I can't imagine going through it with a human being and not having insurance. The co-pay on the colonoscopy WITH insurance was insane.

Our state gubernatorial debate is on. I was going to vote for the Republican--he did a great job as a local official here. But he's gotten so snide about throwing red meat to the base that despite my huge respect for the job he did here, I just can't do it. Oh--and he's doing a big 'drill baby drill' on potential offshore oil as resources belonging to the state. Um, no, actually, that's Federal revenue. Yes, there's a bill to share revenue, but trying to sell this as a great idea for the state is neither factually true nor environmentally sound. Dude. Whiskey tango foxtrot. What happened to you?

Plus as it turns out the Democrat is making a great case for investing in education. So he's making me feel a lot better about voting for him.

Sigh. I'm finding it very disillusioning that someone I would have enthusiastically supported has been coopted. It's like watching zombies eat your friend.

Plus he speaks with the demeanor of someone who's just had a very hot poker stuffed up his digestive outlet. Of course if someone made me say that stuff to get elected, I'd probably look profoundly uncomfortable as well. He looks REALLY grumpy and scowly.

Cheer up, dude, you're leading in the polls by a huge margin.

Well, off to drill with dogs for a bit--not offshore though.

It's been really lively. Two very passionate and articulate debaters.

What did you all read this month?

Bel Canto. About a group of hostages in a south american country. It was good.

Caught part of the debate. I think Obama did not have his best "performance".

Had lunch with a good friend today. He brought me a red rose in a vase. We sat it on the table at the restaurant. Now it's home. He said he remembered we'd go to lunch every Wed. back in the day and he'd always bring me a rose. Cos like my handle even back then was Wrose. Or, actually, Wild Irish Rose. Nowadays I just tell people the W stands for Wild Irish.

No he was not an old beau, just a good friend. DH was at lunch too. The friend is married but lives way north of Atlanta but works close to here so we met there.
