Marge, I hope you have a good time at Applefest today. The weather sounds a lot like what we're expecting here.

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes for the marching band. Long story short:

1st competition: Class AAA 3rd place drumline, 3rd place drum major
2nd competition: Class AAA 3rd place overall

At the second competition, Class AAA 2nd place overall went to the band from T. C. Williams High School. Yes - *THE* T. C. Williams High School. After the drum major got back to the rest of the band with the trophy, they started singing just like the football team in the movie: "We are the Titans, the mighty mighty Titans!" It was kinda cool.

Congratulations to the DSs and their fellow marching musicians!

It was very nice.

Nice sunny crisp weather. We got there around 11, did not have to fight to park. 20 minutes later, the traffic jams backed up for a mile.

Lots of food booths, apple booths, bands, barbershop quartets, etc. And all the little stores in the village to wander through. Got a lot of walking in.

Brought home apple cider donuts (half cinnamon, half caramel iced).
And an apple crumble to take to work pot luck tomorrow -- our VP's birthday potluck.

Oooo, I love those! What a cool footwear style! I'd get a pair of Selenes or Scheme Oysters if I'd recovered from my clog obsession. It will probably be 2015 before I'm ready though. That and the fact that I love that my feet don't hurt at the end of the day any more. For me they're the work shoe equivalent of Birkenstocks. I now have different clogs for every day of the week and part of the next week, LOL.

So I guess I'll be wearing clogs for a while.

I have 2 different styles (in 3 colors). But I bought them 3 or 4 years ago so they aren't on the site anymore. They still look great. They are pretty comfortable for all day wear. They're my go-to shoes in fall/winter for work.

Mine are closest to the Scheme Oyster style.

Yesterday at farewell lunch with Charlotte at Macaroni Grill, we split lemon passion cake for dessert. Oh My Gosh. Delish.

I found a knockoff recipe on the web. I want to try it some time.

SO this is what the mysterious object was.... Not the best job but the humidity was all over the place last week and then little fingers wanted to help set it onto the wooden launch pad ( for stability) so we got smudges... He was happy though.

So to add to our list of woes the pool pump has broken. More money, grrr. On the positive side, looks like the pipes in the wall aren't leaking it's the shower pan itself so something we can fix although it looks like we'll have to take the tile off and redo it. Then repair the 3 foot hole in the dry wall on the living room side. Fortunately the carpet dried nicely and there was no mould!

And the US snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the Ryder Cup! Not that I follow golf but I had to giggle at that one.

Pumpkin pie - depends on how tiny you can cut the slices. If you can get 12-16 slices then you'd need 4-5 for each person to have a slice. Since each person won't have a slice (maybe?), fewer.

For salty you could just do regular Chex mix with candy corn - sounds easier than cheese balls?
12-16 slices! I did eight slices per pie and they were pretty tiny. Its just a nine inch crust.

I did four pies and four dozen cupcakes. It worked fine. I sent one leftover pie home with my friend and have about eight cupcakes left.

Trip here via Southwest was about opposite of United. SW seems to actually know what they are doing!!

Been raining here since Sunday afternoon. Which is fine. It's cool. Back home they are having a heat wave. Hottest temps OF THE YEAR. Yep, the year. We have had an incredibly mild summer.

Couple more days of rain in store, I think. I haven't seen rain since I was in PA. Before that, last spring.

I've mostly been spending my time between sorting jewelry and going thru kitchen cabinets.

DH got the TV working so that was nice.

Looks like we'll get to see a Braves playoff game if they win the Wild Card playoff.

We got food for breakfasts and lunches, figure we'll eat dinners out. Not too many snacks around so I might actually lose a little.

Oh Jane, that Varsity Sat. for dinner? It came back up four hours later. I guess Onion rings on an empty stomach don't work for my old tummy. I was okay later though.

Let's see, rental car is a Ford Fusion, we got a free upgrade as they ran out of compacts. It's nice. It's comparable to my Camry.

Went to the Mad Italian for dinner last night. Best cheese steak hoagies ever. I NEVER get one of those to eat anymore unless I'm in Atlanta.

Kids are good, DS was pretty much taking care of Pippin while DD was at work, she started her part-time job at the haunt and is doing VERY well. Got the "best of the weekend" award Sunday night! Apparently most characters start low and have to work up to that, but her experience at other haunt prompted them to offer her a character right off the bat. And they were slightly concerned but have been very impressed. She also earned two comp tickets for being on time each day! ha ha So she said DH and I can have them when we get back. Nice.
