The puppy's been gaining weight fast! He's gotten very long. When he stands up to get in your face, he's a lot taller now. Still very low to the ground. He was 13-1/4 lbs. earlier this evening.

Got his new teeth in very fast. I guess that's important in dogs.

I should get some rest. Goodnight!

My friend & neighbor Char is moving to Denver, before Halloween.

We are going out for a late lunch today at Macaroni Grill.

I do not have my DT post made for tomorrow. Late again.

I need to get down to the craft room after my coffee.

Pumpkin pie - depends on how tiny you can cut the slices. If you can get 12-16 slices then you'd need 4-5 for each person to have a slice. Since each person won't have a slice (maybe?), fewer.

For salty you could just do regular Chex mix with candy corn - sounds easier than cheese balls?
Bo I'm with Alyson on this one. Make it as easy for yourself as you can, especially with DH being gone. Seriously. Anyone who's going to come to a child's birthday party only to get cranky about the food seriously needs to get over themselves.

I hope hope hope hope hope we do well enough to get some kind of trophy. These kids have worked their butts off and they are a lot better than the previous three years' bands from our school have been. However, as Murphy's Law would have it, in both competitions we're in the only class that has 4 competitors - and trophies are given to the top 3 bands.

Oh well. It's going to be a long day tomorrow so I'd better get to bed.
GOOD LUCK to the band and DSs!!! And fun that you get to spectate! You've worked so hard to help out--you deserve to enjoy this one!!!

PH, enjoy the band competitions today.

V, any news on the job?

Amber, good luck with the party prep and don't stress too much. The only thing I might suggest is a crockpot of mini cocktail wieners in BBQ sauce to add something not so sweet to the assortment. Otherwise sounds delish!

(You can call them bloody fingers or something.)

So I haven't ordered from QVC for over a year. I used to order at least once a month, maybe more.

Anyway they had a Today's Special Value on these Clark's booties a few weeks ago.
http://www.qvc.com/CatalogSearch?lan...=ingalls+dover

I took the plunge at the sale price. I ordered them in navy. Anyway they arrived and I like them! Will be great with jeans. A bit narrower than most of my other Clarks shoes (I have about 8-10 pairs of Clarks and always take a 10M. Anyway, these are a bit narrower but OK. )

I have pairs of black, brown, and wine Clarks shooties (not booties!) that are my staple work shoes with my work slacks all winter. These are a little higher (more bootie-ish than shootie-ish) but I like them.

Marge, those are HOT! I love them! I love those ankle booties for work in chilly weather. I get mine 1/2 size larger so I can wear them with a double layer of fuzzy zox.

I was eyeballing these for my visit to Alaska a year from December. Just looking as my budget is currently hanging out with the catfish trolling bottom at the moment, but I think they're fun in the darker color.

It was sooooo insanely beautiful there and the atmosphere was very much that kind of Key West lots-of-creative-unconventional people, party town with a mix interesting characters and very down to people in love with the beauty of the place.

I'd love to go back and spend more time there. I'm not seriously thinking of moving there (not sure I could handle the 20h/day of darkness in the winter) but I have expanded my fantasy life from buying a vacuum cleaner to keep upstairs so I'm not always schlepping it up and down to buying a cabin in Homer and WFH'ing there for 2-3 months every summer. There were some 1200 sq ft cabins listed with heartbreaking views for under $200k.

Still working on fantasy transportation so I can take the dogs and cat without having to spend 7-10 days driving up and another 7-10 days driving back.

I may need a fantasy car I can leave up there and just drain the fluids and winterize it, or leave it with my friends in Anchorage to drive now and then...

Have decided to resolve fantasy transit issues between here and imaginary cabin in Homer by having Wrose get someone from the USS Enterprise to beam us up and back using the transporter every summer...

Hey, if you are going to have fantasies, it could be worse than a rustic cabin with a beautiful view!

That trip will be more for the people than for the sightseeing. My friends in Anchorage have a big company Christmas party the first weekend in December so I'll be going up for the party and the pleasure of hanging out for another week with them!

Of course, this is from someone who'd drive 4-5 hours each way just to have lunch in another state, LOL... I'm not exactly sane when it comes to travel.
