Not to mention the art, the landscape bill must have been HUGE.

We spent so much time there that we did not go to House on the Rock in Spring Green as planned. It was another hour west and closed at 5. So we saved that for another day. Taliesen (Frank Lloyd Wright) is near House on the Rock but you have to register for tours we thought and very pricey.
Some day I'm going to get to see a Wright house in person! Some day!!

I doubt it.....Minnesota is not a small state, to drive across it and back to get to Fargo. Would eat up a lot of time. Right now I have no interest in going to Fargo. Sorry

Ahhh great. The challenge sounds great. Of course I'll be gone half the month.

I think DD wants another halloween party so when I get back I'll be helping her get ready for that.

Of course, while I'm gone, maybe she can do some stuff too. I'll have to make a list.

Awwww....

You know, my feeling was, classical would be nice, but I wasn't well versed in what was what. DH was, is. So I told him to choose everything. I mean, if I'd wanted a hippie wedding, I could have picked out the music.

Kids played inside while DH and I went next door and replaced the springs on her garage door. Did you know a garage door is heavy? I had to hold it up the whole time Dh was taking off the brokens and putting the new ones on. I kept telling myself if the people in Survivor could do this kind of stuff and if I could walk 40 miles in two days I could hold it up. He did need to give me one quick break to shake out my arms tho.

Yes they can be VERY heavy. When we moved in, the door was original and very very heavy. After replacing the spring twice, we got a new door. Much lighter. Still heavy but a big difference.

I feel like I can't lift my arms now. I'm going to suck it up and be good and unload and load the dishwasher than sneak a nap.

LOL! No worries... maybe one weekend some airline will have an e-special airfare to Minneapolis and I'll fly up and rent a car. I'm seriously knocking North Dakota out one way or another!

I think driving to places like Oregon for breakfast, or around Alaska for a couple of days has warped my sense of how far away things are.

Ouch.

Can you take vitamin I (ibuprofen)? A favorite of my friends who've overdone it on the kayaking.

We did, but the look on her face made it clear that she still wasn't getting it. None of the cheerleaders understand football. Like I said, this is basketball country. Cheering for football games is just practice for basketball season. The coach tells them which cheers to do based on what is happening in the game. They can't call their own cheers for football. LOL.

Another DD story....

We're playing a game at dinner one night and it revolves around saying a letter of the alphabet and either a fruit or vegetable to go with it. We rotate around the table in alpha order.

Me: A. Apricot

DD: MOOOOM that's a crayon, not a fruit or vegetable.

Me: Its a fruit. Its the color of the crayon. The crayon color was named after the fruit.

DD: oh

Omigoodness I think exactly like G.

Was coming back from lunch one day with friends from work, probably 15 years ago. Put lipstick on as we walked back from the car. My friend asks 'what is that?'

My thought process: she is asking if it's lip balm, lipstick or what. So I said 'it's lipstick.'

She was actually asking me what KIND of lipstick, as in what brand. She and I still refer to this as 'the lipstick moment.' I'll never live that down.

MARGE!!!! I just had a flash of inspiration! When I flew out West last year, it was all of maybe $30-50 more to add a city to the ticket. So--I've got it!!! I can fly to Minneapolis, rent a car, go to Fargo, eat breakfast or lunch or something, and then fly on to see you and Leona!!!!

For not much more than going on the trip, I can knock out ND AND not drag you and Leona along!!!!

It's a little crazy but I think it's going to work!!!! Then our trip can be all about Lake Michigan coast, relaxing, views, food and laughing a lot!

Don't ask me why I'm on such a mission to do this but it's definitely led to excellent adventures! When we went to autocross nationals back in 2005, we used my wagon as the support vehicle and I drove down to OK--found out the first town over the OK border was where Tom Mix was born, so I had this fun and totally unexpected detour into silent movie history. And on the way back I stopped at the site of Laura Ingalls Wilder's actual Little House on the Prairie.

When my friend Jamie and I went to Graceland, I told her I'd only go on the condition that we could drive across the Mississippi river and knock out Arkansas. We had a blast on that trip (we went back via Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo and on the way toured the Faulkner house in Oxford). And Wrose and I had a blast driving to Oregon. So I have the feeling if I go to Fargo via Minneapolis, that will be another wacky solo detour.

If I promise not to run myself through a wood chipper on the trip, do you think that would work?

Anyway if he's interested, here's the web page with possible explanations. They've been the Fighting Irish since the 1920s after having several different nicknames in the late 1800s and earlier 1900s.

I didn't expect y'all to get all serious about this... LOL. ODS was asking more rhetorically than honestly!

Um... here in VA we say "no-truh dame". Although ODS has learned the correct French pronunciation in school.

W00t! My card won the race!

OK, maybe it did have a bit of an unfair advantage over Marge's and Wrose's since it had less distance to travel.

Jane, you're welcome.

Mine are still young enough to be considered kids, right? 'Cause I don't think *I* am old enough to have "young adults".

Even if I do have offspring old enough to own a driver's license.

DD: oh

DH wonders if she's blonde.

Yeah heck you'd spend that much on gas getting there!
