You'd be proud of me. Felt a major one coming on the other night about 10:30 when I was out back walking the dogs before bed. I aimed carefully and thought about the Monty Python taunt from Holy Grail.

I'm definitely getting old and crabby. Although it was actually quite, um, liberating under the circumstances.

The memorial service was beautiful. I'm just exhausted.

I think I may take advantage of one last nap opportunity before work week begins. I should probably kayak or vacuum or do something productive but at the moment I just feel like I've been run over by the emotion truck.

No not stress. I've actually been feeling good other than not sleeping. I chalked up some of the not sleeping to being on my bp meds again and peeing more times in a night than should be allowed.
I feel fine today. Not even a hot flash which is strange because I've been outside a lot.

Jane I wanted to tell you I did get the catalogs and check. Thanks. The envelope was TORE UP but the contents were all safe. There are some lovely new things in the catalog. I really like the Silpada Foundation earrings a lot.

I'm glad it's not stress for her. But I wanted to say, my mom told me that she had to watch how much she did, or she'd get sick - even if it was fun and good stuff. I had been getting sick after spending a lot of time at school, volunteering. Yeah I know, germs. But once I stopped signing up for every single day of every single fund raiser, I managed to stay healthy.

Anyone else see the new United Mileage commercial? The woman is Jack In the Box's wife. She's two-timing him!

HAHAHAHAHA

I finally found it online after seeing it again today.

Holy cow. I guess I should have taped the envelope up. The guy at PO was great--told me I could send in the priority envelope for less since yours would have been $11 parcel post. I asked him if I should take envelope back to the office and tape it up first and he said it would be fine.

Sigh.

Glad to hear it's not stress that's been bothering you. Sleep issues bite.

Pippin's good. He weighed in at exactly 8.0 pounds Monday, at almost 4 months. BFF2 does NOT think he'll get near 30 pounds as DD thinks. lol

OMG, my mom sent this link and I finally looked at it and was laughing out loud. It's Irish commentary on Olympic racing.

Chill weekend. Went to hunt scorpions at the desert museum for the last time this summer, swam today and played with the kitten who shows no ill effects from being sat on just a couple of days after we got him.

Making taco salads for dinner. We bake/grill the tortillas to make the bowl so it's a really low cal dinner. I also have hatch chilis which I need to grill then freeze so I ought to put those on at the same time.

Well I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Ordered a new pair of khakis from Lands End on sale and had to send them back not because there was anything wrong with them but because the plastic mailing bag AND the little inner bag were ripped and there was a giant smear of machine grease running up my lovely slacks. Grrrr.

Marge I am very sad to report that I had to get new khakis because yours met a sad end. I tripped one day on the way to work and tore the knee. I'll still wear them on the weekend but sadly they had to be honorably retired from my work wardrobe.

Honestly ERK - the way it looks kind of bubbly, it reminds me a lot of when DH had poison ivy.

But I suppose you'd know if you were around poison ivy vs. something that could have bitten you.

Yup, Benadryl. Just a bit itchy but nowhere near as bad as yesterday. I'm with you on the rattlesnake, though.

We just have poison cactus! Well, prickly cactus. I had been out on Friday late afternoon hacking back the neighbours cats claw vine which grows over our wall. Nasty stuff which is a great place for bugs and insects to hide. I'm sure something crawled down the waistband of my skirt and made for my lower back. I don't think I got the bites in the house.

Well, it's been a very tiring weekend for me.

The basket bingo was a bust. There was a lot of word-of-mouth advertising for it - it was mentioned to the parents at the high school orientation on Tuesday, and flyers were passed out to the parents at the middle school "meet & greet" on Wednesday, and the fire department had it on their sign all last week. But I don't think there were more than 50 people there.

Part of the problem was that none of us band booster "regulars" had ever set up a bingo before. I had provided baskets for a few in the past, and some of the other band moms had attended a few bingos. But it was not the best organized event.

Once I had the baskets set up, and all the food was brought in, and tables were set up, ODS decided he wasn't needed any more and he left - although a couple of the other band moms and I were telling him that yes, he could stay and help by checking people's cards when they won. I was not pleased with him.

YDS was all interested in figuring out how to work the ball machine, and he volunteered to be the announcer since the band boosters president hadn't been able to get anyone else to do it. Of course he put his own spin on the commentary he was doing. Not really making jokes, but just being a 13-year-old. But he received compliments on the job he did. I was proud of him.

During one of the last few games I went back to the concessions table to ask how they were doing. They still had three whole pizzas and 35 Chick-Fil-A sandwiches left. So I said I'd buy a pizza - which I did, and which we had for supper tonight. They gave us 8 chicken sandwiches as a thank you to YDS for announcing (the drum major offered me 10, but I said 8 because that would be two for each of us in our family). I accepted them because I figured *I* wasn't spending money on them.

But now I need to email the boosters president an invoice for the prizes used. I was already planning to give the boosters a substantial discount. But as much as I want to be compensated fairly, I hate to do it because I doubt the boosters made enough money to cover the cost of the baskets even with the discount.

That's a shame about the bingo, PH. Was it too short notice for people? Has school actually started and there just wasn't enough push to get people to go.

It looks pretty severe. I hope by some happy twist of fate that the rain falls slowly enough to sink in the ground, rather than run off and cause flooding.

It was raining here when I woke up this morning but it stopped by noon. We ended up with just shy of 1/2 inch.
