Yeah it would be awesome for the puppy. But she won't be around much for Halloween with her haunt job.
I'm so seeing Sonny as a brontosaurus... LOL.
Molly has a lobster costume. She hates it.

I need to make an appt. for him to get his stitches out in ten days.
Yikes Wrose. VERY glad he's ok. Love his math on the shots! It must be encouraging to know his sense of humor didn't need stitches.

Morning. I have the whole weekend off! Need to get kid rooms in order, pull out clothes that don't fit and stuff like that. Heck I'm just looking forward to eating dinner and not rushing off tonight

Sounds of Silence
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme
Bookends
Bridge Over Troubled Water.
And they are on my iPod.

Ever notice the lyrics for the song, Wednesday Morning, 3 a.m. are exactly the same as Somewhere They Can't Find Me? The latter has a MUCH better rockin melody and I love it, the former is meh. And Anji (on the Sounds of Silence album) has the same tune as Somewhere They Can't Find Me but is instrumental only? Love that too. Comes right after Somewhere They Can't Find Me.

And I love Paul Simon's solo album, "Still Crazy After All These Years." Love playing "Have a Good Time" the day after my birthday.
Yesterday it was my birthday
I hung one more year on the line
I should be depressed
My life's a mess
But I'm having a good time
etc.
And I love Night Game, which is seemingly about baseball.
And "My Little Town" always reminded me in many ways of my home town. At least back then.
..And after it rains
There's a rainbow
But all of the colors are black
It's not that the colors aren't there
It's just imagination they lack
Everything's the same
Back in my little town.
Maybe a bit harsh but I really couldn't wait to leave!!!

Ahhhhhh after much googling, success. I'm not insane. I DID see Simon and Garfunkel at Georgia Tech's Grant Park in 1983 - the concert tour that followed their 1981 Concert in the Park in Central Park, NYC.
w00t!!!

They seem to have had fun with that!
My all-time favorite Garfunkel tune is Heart in NY. Starts out, 'New York, to that tall skyline I come, flying in from London to your door.' That always gives me happy chills because on my last visit to my grandparents, I flew from Heathrow to Newark and changed planes there for the final trip home. Landed early evening on an incredibly clear day to one of the most amazingly crisp, beautiful views of the city I've ever seen from an airplane. The way he sings that line just always makes me think of that wonderful feeling of two cities I've always loved, and the sense of wonder I've always gotten from travel.
For all that I didn't move back to NY I still feel such a sense of wonder every time I see it from the air. It's a very strange home town. It's so intense and literally crammed with people on top of people in all those high-rise buildings. It seems too immense to have the cozy feeling you'd associate with home but certain corners of it really do have that bone-deep familiarity and feeling of this is it, this is where I come from in a way that makes me feel very happy and kind of surprised every time.
Oddly enough one of my friends in Atlanta told me the Indigo Girls song about 'when God made me born a Yankee he was teasing,' always makes him think of me and in an odd way that Art Garfunkel song makes me think my friend might have a point. And then there's the Paul Simon song about 'Still Crazy after all these years,' LOL.

I guess the reality of everything being final on Friday is hitting me. I've been up and down all weekend.
I'm packed for the trip though and messaged friend in Anchorage and spoke to cousin's daughter yesterday. We're all SOOOO excited. God bless financial advisor who told me even if I drained my savings, go somewhere I've never been and always wanted to see and start that next phase of life on that joyful note of freedom and exploration. Given that I feel as though someone pitched all my emotions in a giant blender and hit the 'frappe' button, I appreciate that advice so profoundly right now.

Yesterday was a nice day. One of the people that I worked with a lot at Lucent left in 2008 to go work for a very small consulting company. Anyway he was in Chicago this weekend and looked me up.
Monte Main -- truly one of the smartest guys I've ever met. Alexander Main
Anyway he came out at 11am and we did a 5 mile walk at Herrick Lake. Then went to Naf Naf for a very late lunch. Then we sat outside with Shadow and talked till about 6pm.
He had to head back in to the city for a performance -- his friend was in a show which is why he was in Chicago to begin with.

Early work with the trainer today. I have a memorial service to go to at 2pm. 2nd one in a month although this is a friend's Dad. Still very sad though. He was a wonderful man and my friend misses him so much.
We're working with both dogs on behavior when someone comes to the door.
Sonny's come a long way just in 7 weeks. He and Molly came to Debbie and John's with me on Friday and they could see the difference and how much calmer he is. I can definitely see how much the dogs pick up on whatever's going on with me. They seem happiest when I'm calm and in control. Sonny and I definitely have a lot of fear and panic reactions in common. Obviously I've had about 48 more years to work on them than he has but working with him and trying to build up some counter-conditioning for what triggers him has turned into so much of a case of we teach best what we most need to learn ourselves.
Between the best possible friends in the world and the dogs keeping me in the moment with all the training, it's been an amazing few weeks.

How has he been liking DC? Has he gotten into the city at all? I imagine August (or any time during the summer) is not the best time to visit unless your idea of a good time involves sitting in a sauna for 3 straight months.

Sorry I disappeared. I woke up ready to get the day started and about an hour in I was overcome by dizziness, nausea and sweating. SO I took it easy and then ran to the bathroom. Dry heaves. THen starving. SO I ate a piece of chocolate and something maybe low bs even took my bp, 124/84. Everything fine.
Rested more then worked on cleaning up Zach's room while DH and J were cleaning up J's room. Felt ok then boom again a wave of spinning and nausea so wretched in the bathroom a bit and rested on my bed til the spinning stopped. Returned to the clean up after that. Finally we were all done and I got comfy on the couch. I felt best sort of lying diagonal, head elevated a bit not sitting or lyingflat. Pretty much instantly fell asleep.
I have not been sleeping well over the last three weeks. insomnia from about 1:30 to 5 not getting close to falling asleep until midnight. I even broke out in some hives on my arm two days ago while shopping with the kids. Maybe I am just physically exhausted and got all outta whack.

Wow, that sounds like a bug of some kind! Which might be on top of being exhausted. Kids go back when? Maybe the 28th? That's when BFF said her schools start - not that she has kids in them but she works lunch duty at one of them.
Ours start back tomorrow.
DS starts back Wed. and DD starts back next Monday.

Oh nice, and of course I was wondering too, taking the time to spend all day and wondering if there was anything else, and of course....

V, do you think it could be stress? I know you've been working a lot and still bouncing back from the walk. I think sometimes adrenaline keeps us going and when we finally slow down, it's hard to start up again. My stepdad always said our bodies have a way of letting us know when we've been pushing it too hard for too long. One of the few things I think he's absolutely right about.
