FIVE WEEKS???!?

ERK seriously someone needs to nominate you for sainthood.

I'd volunteer but the Catholic church isn't too happy with me these days...

Basically, one a month for the rest of the year. January through May are easy. DS2 is July, DD is September, Cinco is September, DS1 is Oct and Bbaby is December. So, the two I have to start planning now are DS2 and DD.

DS2's birthday is early July, so the party will actually be the last weekend in June. He wants to have "Bonzaii Party" as he keeps calling it. We have a big waterslide called a Bonzaii Falls and he wants to have that out for his birthday. Cheap and Easy...I'm in! So, just some basic invites, likely through evite or facebook. We'll need to do some kind of food and either cake or cupcakes. So, I just need to get confirmation from him that this is for sure what he wants to do. No mind changing at the last minute!

DD's party is a bit more detailed. Its her 13th and she wants to have a big boy-girl pool party. Great...teenage girls in bikinis and boys oogling their goodies. So, I have to set up with the local park to rent the pool out afterhours. I think rental hours are either 8-10 or 7-10. So, theoretically the kids will have already eaten dinner. I wouldn't think they'd be all that interested in eating and missing out on pool time anyway. I was thinking just a basic cake and happy birthday song and then everyone can go back to the water. Maybe grab a case of waters and put them in the cooler. A few of the dad's have graciously offered to serve as the party bouncers and block all exits. DD's bday party has to be in July(like a month early) because the pool closes when the kids go back to school.

Thoughts...help?
Um... have a 'consider the monastic life' party at the pool for DD's 13th? Complete with head-shaving those cool tonsure haircuts and nice itchy hair shirts?

Cheeeeeese Gromit, lovely cheeeese.

Seriously I want to go mug the state of Wisconsin sometimes. Sigh. Cheese is my downfall. Given a choice between a krispy kreme donut and some lovely fresh mozzarella, hand over the tomato and basil and you can have the donut.

Watching the weather... giant storming monsoon all day, but sun poked out on my way home. Trying to find out if I have enough time to get out before the next round rolls back in.

I have to admit I'm paranoid about getting out on the water if there's a chance of lightning. It's already clouding back up. Carp. May take pups for walk instead. Yup, storms popping back up.

The actual relay is on Friday overnight. This is one they do at school during the school day. I'm not happy. I know they want to tie it in to the actual event but they should do it earlier in the year.

Well there's the conundrum.

No you should not "deprive" yourself, but you want to take a good hard look at what that means and what you are saying to yourself.

Whenever I deliberately decline something I really like, I consider it a positive choice. If I think of it as deprivation, I resent it.

So - like with the cheese, I would take a pinch and that would make me feel good.

My BFF back east was saying she can't eat raviolis any more, they're just too many points. I said, I always think of things like that with the attitude that I can have them right after I run a marathon.

Basically if you get enough exercise, you can eat more.

Amber, I've thought a lot about the "deprive" thing, because somebody I know uses it to excuse her eating a lot. And in WW, they do tell you not to deprive yourself because then you'll just go crazy and eat everything in sight. So again, she uses that. Then wonders why her weight has stayed the same for three years.

Anyway, to "not deprive" yourself obviously doesn't mean don't ever say "no thanks." That's why I kind of turned it around in my head, and if I make it my choice, I don't have that rebellious reaction.

I remember one time they had a panel of WW lifetimers to answer questions. These people had been at or close to goal for a lot of years. The way they rationed out their "treats" was a lesson to me! Very impressive. So they weren't depriving themselves, just making themselves wait a little.

My recommendation on the cheese would be to just use a little less than you used to.

You could also try to purchase the 2% less fat or whatever it's called? If you like it, if it doesn't cost more.... whatever. I buy the shredded fat free, but whatever you like. I've noticed that skinny people don't drink diet coke necessarily, or eat fat free items. They just eat LESS of everything!!!

Okay, I do like a paper catalog to help me, though. Makes life easier.

The MASH finale is on TV Land....and it's coming to the scene where BJ says goodbye to Hawkeye.

And speaking of eyes....no that isn't a tear in mine. *sniffle*

I second that. I'm losing s-o-o-o-o slowly because I'm not depriving myself--just eating smaller portions, focusing on eating fruits, veggies and healthy foods, and getting as much exercise as I can.

Now I get full sooner. I also, oddly enough, sometimes crave salad or cucumbers or broccoli which is kind of bizarre but not unwelcome, LOL.

I still have bad days but I try to get back to behaving as soon as I can.

Our monsoon is back, but no lightning. I hate when I do the better safe than sorry thing but would have been ok if I'd gone for it. Oh well. As I used to tell myself when all my flights out of Logan got delayed, way better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than in the air desperately wishing you were on the ground.

On the bright side I got some extra work I'd brought home polished off while it's been storming.

I guess I will walk pups and head upstairs to read soon. Part of my improve your sleep program calls for no internet or telly for an hour before bed.

Sleep well everyone.

That's what I do. I also exercise a ton just so I can eat things like lovely cheese.

Definitely no diet coke and never buy FF stuff. I eat normal food, just load up on the veggies and skip the "extras".

I still had pizza for dinner tonight, but only one slice. It was good and I really didn't even want more than that.

I just got in from running three miles and I will hit the weights tomorrow. Getting back to the old me is fun.

Excellent!!!

I think people like me, who've been struggling with their weight for like 35 years, off and on, need more work on the psychology of weight loss. LOL

Sleep well everyone.
That's a great idea, no screens for a bit.

Hey Marge, I thought of you today. I was wondering if my Jockey for Her underwear had any info on the label about what exact style it was. But it didn't. Just care instructions.

How to wash, no chlorine bleach, how to dry.
And, "Iron low."

WHAT? Iron my underwear????? Are they insane? ROFL

I mean I guess you COULD iron them.... do any of you iron your underwear?????

I don't even FOLD mine. I stuff them in a drawer.

V, I keep forgetting to tell you. A couple weeks ago, I needed more splenda packets and wrote it on the white board (okay it's silver, not white) on the fridge.

DH asked me later what "splendid packets" were.

HAHAHA

I thought of you.

Good night Bo!

I don't buy anything fat free either--with the blood sugar issues I'm actually better off getting food with fat in it or with protein to slow the absorption of the carbs. I'm actually better off dipping bread in olive oil (my good-fat substitute for butter) than just having the bread.

Which means more calories, of course--so more moderation. Sigh.
