Does your utility company have energy efficiency funds? When my parents replaced their old fridge and hot water heater the utility gave them several hundred dollars in credits. And we got almost a year's worth of electrical bills paid ahead when we bought all energy efficient appliances for the new house.

Honestly, I wish the college would just hire me permanently (part-time) instead of through the agency so I could get decent pay. I do like the work and low stress and only working half days.

So in the regular season, when the hockey game is tied, they play a five minute OT, then go to a shoot-out. One on one, player and goalie.

Not in the playoffs. We just played another whole period (20 minutes) of OT hockey, sudden death - and still tied. Another 20 minutes goes on the clock!

We had LIGHTNING and THUNDER tonight! More than one! Ha ha ha

*cool*

The kids grew up in southeast Florida where big long thunderstorms were frequent and we miss them.

Did I mention I picked up my new jacket?

Made For Life

It was only $15 when I ordered it and free ship to store. We picked it up on the way back from the airport Wed. The store is right off the interstate we had to take anyway.

Except I got the BLUE version. I believe it defaults to the pink. I wanted the large after trying on a blue medium and large pink. They had no large blue in the store.

Last night I was wearing it all evening because it was cold and rainy out. My new hoodie? is all warm and snuggly but light. It's perfect - zip front for easy shedding if you get a really bad hot flash.....

Remember the old Jim Croce song --

"Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware of a man named Leroy Brown"

Well that's where I'm headed today for the IIT alumni awards, the south side. Will be about a 50 minute drive. Didn't want to go down there by myself, so manager Dan from work and I are carpooling.

Gosh, I loved Croce's music.

Speaking of Chicago music, YDS told me today that the jazz band will be playing "25 or 6 to 4" at the middle school concert Tuesday night. Cool.

The 7th grade band (which YDS is in) is going to play one of the songs that ODS played as an 8th grader. Yes - the 7th graders this year are that good. The middle school band teacher and I were talking after the band boosters meeting Wednesday night, and he couldn't stop praising them.

Awww... the high school band teacher updated the high school band's FB status this morning:

"Looking forward to another great day of music as [ODS's first name] represents us at All-Va band!"

I think more than anything else, ODS is glad that the other boy who auditioned from our school for All-VA band did NOT make it. That kid does play very well, but I've never before met a boy with such a HUGE diva attitude. It dawned on me this morning that this guy is a lot like Lord Farquaad from the original Shrek movie - short, with an incredibly inflated opinion of himself, and likely to pitch a fit if things don't go the way he likes. ODS tries to get along with everyone, but this other kid is the one person I've ever heard him say that he just doesn't like.

Did your DH's bruising show up right away? DH didn't have any bruising until day 5 and its very localized rather than just a total um...area bruise. Its also very red, not just like a black and blue bruise. Just really odd. I talked to my gf whose husband had it done about a year ago and she said he was black and blue for a week, but it was total pkg. His pain was also in a different location that my DH's. Guess vasectomy can be like childbirth and affect everyone differently?

He never called and well, I just draw the line at calling the urologist and discussing my husband's junk. He can do it himself. He says its fading today and feeling better. Who knows.
