I've feel like we've all been friends forever. Maybe it was just at the right time in my life to feel that way but dang we're all getting old! I had an infant and was pregnant around the beginning of this nonsense. THANKS HELEN!

I keep thinking prices have stopped going up, but they don't. I guess waiting 2-3 days isn't long enough.

I thought of that too!

Will we be on the same time then for the summer? Or is that backward? I never remember!

Finally the steroids are starting to work. My eye is opening up! But the skin below it down to my cheek is just raw from the pus drainage while I sleep and from me wiping it with a tissue. Wow. I don't know what to do for the skin.

So glad Amber and Charla are okay.

Just had a third vendor give me a quote on putting my back courtyard steps back together.

This one was cheaper but I can barely communicate with him. (English not so good).

Not sure what I should do.

Meanwhile her sister (our Board pres) lost her job, was out of work for 6 months, had to take a job downtown at half her former salary. She went from a 5 minute commute to an hour++ train commute.

Anyway about 1.5 years ago they decided the Philadelphia sister Charlotte (who works from home doing medical transcription) should sell her Phila house and move into the townhouse here. Share expenses since Board pre' salary was so much lower. So that is what they did. They called it survival.

Even though Board pres & I have a testy relationship, I get a big kick out of her sister Charlotte. Charlotte is "funny", always cracking jokes, very irreverant. She's done a few things with Leona and I and she came to my New Years Day lunch. And we chitchat almost every day when we see each other out walking dogs.

Anyway.....she had gone to Florida to visit the parents of the boyfriend who died. She wants to make them a mini scrapbook.

So she asked my help. We are heading to JoAnn's and Michael's this morning, and then to lunch. JoAnn's has lots of scrapbook stuff on sale and they have a 15% coupon good for entire purchase -- including sale items!!

And I have a JoAnn's gift card that a co-worker gave me as a retirement gift.

So it should be fun!!
That's very generous of you, Marge. And cool that you get along so well with her!

Yes, I do realize that! Was laughing with my manager that I can get jet lag and the time change out of the way all in one vacation.

Can you get references? One thing I've found over the years is that the lowest price isn't always the best deal.

Andrea (my WW neighbor) gave me their name; they had done work for her.

Still not too sure though.

Spoke too soon...eye is actually not so good again today. Skin is totally RAW all around it...so so painful.

Have to go back to doctor tomorrow unless there is some massive improvement overnight.

Jane - I snagged The Tiger's Wife at the library today! It was finally in. I am loving our weekly Sunday walks up there. The kids look forward to 3:00 all day long

I am up to 23 books read this year. Yay!

This week I read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. DH read it a year ago, and has been bugging me to read it. It was fantastic. A great history of cell discovery/culture/science - but what happened to her family was SO sad. And super interesting to read because Clover (where lots of the book takes place) is no kidding 10 minutes down the road from us.

I also read The Language of Flowers and The Paris Wife. LOVED the first one...the second was ok. Interesting and well written, but for some reason it sort of bummed me out to read.

I'm about 100 pages in to The People's Act of Love - I love Russian History, and the author is really great. This book is a few years old, but I just discovered it.

I enjoyed the Tiger's Wife -- I think.
Waiting for you and Jane to read it to see what you think.

We read the Henrietta Lacks book in book club last summer. It's one of those that I am "glad" I read - for the knowledge and awareness. But if I am honest I didn't "enjoy" it. I also thought the author got awfully repetitive around the main theme.

Okay the "Senna-S" seems to be working. I'm going back to bed now.

I wonder if it was the jellybeans that attacked me on Friday..........

I am not sure that I enjoyed it either - it was sort of painful to read. In part because I know that people down here really do still live like that (sort of) - no value in education, superstitions, etc. And what happened to her children was just so sad. But I thought it was a good book, and I am glad I read it. Overall, I thought it was fantastic because it brought exposure to something that so desperately needed it. I was willing to forgive her redundancies, lol.

I am liking the Tiger's Wife so far. A few passages she wrote really stuck out to me - well written, great thoughts. I cannot believe the author is so young (born in '85)!

PH!! You have my snow!!!! Give it back!

We have nothing. They delayed school......for nothing, lol. It is still supposed to do some sort of slushy mix today. And we decided to let DD just stay home, because at last check it would start about 30-60 mins before school let out, and who wants to go out in that?

The snow has almost stopped now. I'd guess that we have a good 4" of it on the deck railing and probably close to that on the ground, too. In the photo I shared earlier, which was taken about 8:30 this morning, those are my mini daffodils in the background - they are mostly all buried in the snow now.

The somewhat funny thing about it is that Friday (the 2nd) was the last day of the six-weeks grading period, and today was planned as a teacher workday. So our county's students *still* haven't missed a day of school this year because of the weather. I'll be surprised if they miss all day tomorrow - right now, I'm thinking they'll just have a two-hour delay.

I gave up a long time ago on trying to keep up with Wrose. Hard to believe now that she hit 20,000 just a minute after I did.

eta: ok, I'm a goof. I just went back and was reading through the thread where Wrose and I crossed that milestone. I had tears in my eyes laughing at some of our posts.

Went walking with the meetup group on the indoor track. Three of us went to Jamba Juice afterwards. They have light flavors that are pretty good. I got Mango Mantra.

Amber, you may not be checking on here, but I wanted to let you know that your family has been on my mind. Is there anything we can do to help?
