Doesn't look like Danville has anything.
I'm bringing a green shirt to wear on St Pat's so you all can't pinch me... <--see? Green!

But I think it is for the best that Leona had to cancel the San Francisco train trip. Not only was she in a money bind, but this siding project has had lots of major ripple effect to my wallet.
New Andersen storm door $350 (incl installn)
New Andersen 8 ft sliding glass door $3200 (incl installn)
Take brick steps apart in back patio $150
Pay someone to put brick steps back together $450
Black metal trellis to replace old wooden one (so it matches new metal front fences) $150
Oh and I forgot, pay painter to paint the wood & new surround trim on the sliding glass door to match, and as long as he was here, paint all the trim in the house to freshen it $300
So I guess it boils down to, I better spend my vacation in my unexpectedly pricey courtyard this summer.
Wine and cheese on the patio, anyone?
I'd LOVE to join you... although possibly maybe when it warms up just a wee bit?
YIKES on all the expenses Marge.

They don't co-mingle much....
I know what you mean about different groups of friends. I think that's why the Super Bowl party was fun... stamping friends, kayaking friends, car friend...

LOL.
YDS made me a toasted cheese sandwich tonight - our family's super easy no fuss alternative to grilled cheese. Toast the bread in the toaster, when it's done toasting, assemble the cheese between the bread, then pop it in the microwave for about 8 seconds on each side to get the cheese melty.

I read that the observation platform is closed do to structural leaks but the museum should be open and the parking area still has good views. Wasn't planning on a hike unless we stop at Wind City on the way down for a look at the caves, those are close to the parking spot too. We can be up at the summit until sunset so whatever works out best is fine by me.
I'm fine with whatever works for both of you!

Wow..pretty nasty weather by Charla and Amber...Amber is apparently okay, lost her barn and not sure about her house yet. She was elsewhere. Haven't seen anything from Charla since she was in her sister-in-law's cellar several hours ago.
I stayed home today..couldn't see. Went to the doctor. I have an infection..not the worst he's seen but in the top 10 he told me. Got steroids and drops. It's awful!

I thought her dad lost his barn?

I know I posted this before, but here's a pic DS drew once after trying to explain something to me. Sorry it's small and light, looks better when you click on it.
Oh, that totally cracked me up!!! I think 3/4 of what my kids say goes completely over my head, LOL.

Marge the only answer is we should all visit you. How many of us can you fit? I'm sure the girls would be happy to fit 3 or 4 in a bed. Or sleep on the floor.
I sleep on the floor.
I look really funny getting back up again (like a turtle crossed with a something-else-that-can't-flip-and-stand), but I can do it
Of course IL is one of the states I've already visited and don't really need to visit again

I'd LOVE to meet your Mom one of these days! Maybe one day after I've visited Alyson I can come back!
If we time it right, you can visit us for 4th of July (must be seen here! fireworks on both sides of the water, including insane neighbors who spend tens of thousands for their own exhibitions, not to mention we're 10 mi from reservation w/unlimited fireworks).
Then you can help me drive down to CA (presuming DH is still working there...) and we can stop and see V and Wrose again

Over here, it wouldn't even be an censoring issue if he'd gone for a single entendre on a late-night show. My Canadian cousin was pretty shocked at the stuff people are allowed to say on TV.
Me, too - I'm never sure whether to let the kids watch a show or not, LOL.

Oh no...
When I saw the tornadoes in Kentucky I wondered about our Pondies. How terrible. If anyone hears more, let us know.
Did I ever tell you about Charlotte? She is the Board president's sister.
She's from Philadelphia; her husband died; she started dating again, then her new boyfriend died.
Meanwhile her sister (our Board pres) lost her job, was out of work for 6 months, had to take a job downtown at half her former salary. She went from a 5 minute commute to an hour++ train commute.
Anyway about 1.5 years ago they decided the Philadelphia sister Charlotte (who works from home doing medical transcription) should sell her Phila house and move into the townhouse here. Share expenses since Board pre' salary was so much lower. So that is what they did. They called it survival.
Even though Board pres & I have a testy relationship, I get a big kick out of her sister Charlotte. Charlotte is "funny", always cracking jokes, very irreverant. She's done a few things with Leona and I and she came to my New Years Day lunch. And we chitchat almost every day when we see each other out walking dogs.
Anyway.....she had gone to Florida to visit the parents of the boyfriend who died. She wants to make them a mini scrapbook.
So she asked my help. We are heading to JoAnn's and Michael's this morning, and then to lunch. JoAnn's has lots of scrapbook stuff on sale and they have a 15% coupon good for entire purchase -- including sale items!!
And I have a JoAnn's gift card that a co-worker gave me as a retirement gift.
Amber sent me a message on FB late last night. Her family wasn't home when the worst of storms went through, so they are all safe. She had been in contact with some of her neighbors, who reported to her that the house is missing some shingles and siding, but otherwise looked OK. She said the kids' play set was gone, along with "the barn" (she didn't specify but I'm pretty sure that's her dad's barn).
Yesterday the schedule for that week went up. SQUEE! Three days off in a row and visitors to boot!
Jane do you realize you'll be traveling during Spring Forward time change? ERK doesn't do it I don't think so you'll be suitably confused when you get here.
if we get to 5000 posts by next Monday, do we want to start a new thread to celebrate our Pondiversary? The Pond will be 5 years old!
(Old enough to go to kindergarten, LOL!)
Yes!!
We are FIVE?!?!?! Wow! I was just thinking on Thursday night (when PH and I were talking about how the kids are growing so fast) about how long we'd been friends.
