Went great!

You know, I have a few really good friends and a lot of casual friends.

And the latter are in groups:
Dog park crew
Book club crew
Walking / meetup crew
Stamping crew
Old Work crew
Neighbor crew
Weightwatchers crew

They don't co-mingle much....

Yeah that sounds good. The only thing I know that happens around here for St Pat's is a parade in Dublin in the morning. I've never been. Best route to Mt Diablo is basically driving back roads from my house so depending on zoo day and how your back is feeling we might even just head up there after that? I read that the observation platform is closed do to structural leaks but the museum should be open and the parking area still has good views. Wasn't planning on a hike unless we stop at Wind City on the way down for a look at the caves, those are close to the parking spot too. We can be up at the summit until sunset so whatever works out best is fine by me.

Yep in May. I got emails yesterday but haven't looked. Love their new taupe colored stoneware. I got some in October.

Oh, and trying to catch up in the Pond. I think I'll have to give up on it though 'cause I can't remember half of it and am jealous of the other half.

Oh we'll have to toss a bag of them into the take-along bag for our road trip! With lots of wet wipes and napkins! LOL

I figure water bottles and snacks, since a lot of the road will be in sparsely populated areas.

Although in all honesty I could get a new Ford Fiesta for the price of a used Mini--they get butt-kicking mileage, too, rented one on trip to parents and they're pretty fun to drive. Could easily be modded up to autocross and would be way less expensive to maintain and a really fun car for tooling around, good safety ratings, decent room in the back for taking pup to dog park. It's probably a more rational decision.

Fortunately it will be a while before I have to decide, knock wood.
I keep eliminating cars I'd want, because of the gas prices. Like the new turbo Bug.....

His parents are absolutely distraught and we are too. It's just a terrible, absolutely heartbreaking situation.

Weds BIL's sister, who my niece absolutely adores, had a heart attack. She started improving yesterday, thank Heaven but it's pretty serious. BIL will probably fly home to see her even although their other sister says not to come, it's not serious. Um, what part of loving someone isn't serious? Grrrr. My sister's pretty upset that BIL's other sister won't just be gracious about his wanting to be there.

Yesterday my wonderful manager's equally wonderful manager got the big Corporate thank-you. One of the last of the old-school, knows what he's doing, cares about doing it right, cares about the people doing the work managers. We're lucky--the new mgr we'll report to is one of the folks I worked with when they lent me out to another dept last year and he's very much another brilliant, dedicated and hugely decent human, so we totally lucked out there. And mgr who got laid off, given his experience and current regulatory environment, is in a very strong position to do well consulting. Just lots of uncertainty at work right now.

I am very glad to know vacation starts next week.
Oh I'm sorry it's been rough. Yes you can haz needs vacation.

DH has a scouting thing so I won't see him til Sat. evening now. So I'm going to get some minor things moved around.

Like the extra nightstand that's in the doorway to the guest room. Ha ha ha, I swapped it out of the corner there and think I might sneak it into DH's area. He can use more storage spots, esp. if I can label them well.

Like I have a basket here I could use and bring it over and then you could see if any of your friends have unopened bottles of travel sizes of lotion, rustle up some crumbled or shredded tissue, and put the things over it. and wrap it up - which makes me chuckle because with the military wouldn't everyone have a little collection of travel sized things? I know when we were first married, DH travelled a lot for work and not even in the military, and we had a collection. I finally donated a bunch to one of the local shelters. But you don't live close.

New Andersen storm door $350 (incl installn)
New Andersen 8 ft sliding glass door $3200 (incl installn)
Take brick steps apart in back patio $150
Pay someone to put brick steps back together $450
Black metal trellis to replace old wooden one (so it matches new metal front fences) $150

Oh and I forgot, pay painter to paint the wood & new surround trim on the sliding glass door to match, and as long as he was here, paint all the trim in the house to freshen it $300

So I guess it boils down to, I better spend my vacation in my unexpectedly pricey courtyard this summer.

Wine and cheese on the patio, anyone?
Wow Marge, that stinks. So things like this might hit any of the homeowners? So in this economy, they're taking a hit on the assessment and all this other stuff too.

Marge the only answer is we should all visit you. How many of us can you fit? I'm sure the girls would be happy to fit 3 or 4 in a bed. Or sleep on the floor.

Alright! What time do you want to meet at the Museum? It'll be only my second time there!

The new round baker is cranberry, which I love. The white was okay, shows dirt quick, I think I have a white 9x13. I have the cranberry pie plate, square baker, and covered roaster, three other white pieces; most of my stoneware is unglazed.

I really like that new cranberry baker, I admit I'm partial to that color.

Yes, exactly.

$3500 special assessment that was due Feb 1
$30 monthly increase that will go on for eternity

And I got off easy -- some people had to rip out entire decks and replace multiple windows.

Hey, I'd buy those inflate-a-bed things for you, LOL

And you can see my new siding and fugly orange fence. Well the fence isn't up yet, but will be soon.
