Joyce, I went and commented on the blog post...congrats on your very first one!!

Holly, the curator at the museum let us know how much one of the quilts went for, but I saw on his site that some were around 12,000.00. Honestly, after seeing what a work of art they are and how long they took to make...I can see some wealthy person bidding on it. And they go all over the world, the rooster went to Provence, France.

Need to get the dog out for a walk, am doing laundry, made 2 meals to freeze here at the condo for the next time we come up...then going to clean and head back home in the morning.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
Beth, hugs to you with the boys off to school. I am sure they are going to enjoy it, and you will too, once you get in the swing of things. But that first day is always tough.

Traci I think you need one of those quilts in your home!
Let's see, two years to make one? Wow . . . so if you started one today . . .

They are beautiful!

I enjoy looking through the art quilting magazines at the book store, there is amazing talent in this world.

Traci, it would take me 10 years......so does that mean it would go for 100K? LOL

Thanks girls. I was nervous!

This video tutorial for the next one will be interesting to say the least.

Will reply to some posts separately, but may not remember it all.

PS, I know a lot of folks are fearful of antidepressants. I will say without a doubt I would NOT want dh to go off of them. If he misses even a day or 2 it is awful. I think we don't know how depressed we are til we find what it's like to NOT feel that way on a daily basis. If nothing else has worked, I hope they will find a medicine that helps you. The senior pastor at our church not so long ago had a sermon in which he shared that he uses an antidepressant and it is not a sin, it's a medical condition. I wonder if there are things in our environment, foods, etc., that have caused such an abundance of depression. I do know depression CAN be sin, but if it's a medical condition, there are medical answers. I will be praying dear sister!

Holly, it's so nice to have you chatting (even though I know it's because you are recovering). Guess we'll take you while we can & be thankful this is part of your recovery. Just wish I were around more to enjoy you & the others!

Leona, I'm so sorry to hear the boyfriend didn't make it either. How sad for those boys to be orphans now. I am praying for your family. I wondered how you had such a niece close to your age, but it makes sense now.

Beth, did you start school yet? How are you doing?

We leave tomorrow for our overnight away. We'll spend tomorrow afternoon & Friday in the other town then be back on Friday night. I took B. to my folks today but N. is in a musical/drama camp at church this week so she's here tonight. She is SO not getting why we need time alone. Well, she's okay with that, but when she found out she'd have to stay til Sunday, she got really upset. It's not a matter of missing us. She says it's boring at Mammaw's & Poppaw's. It's for that very reason that when my folks offered to keep them through Sunday I said YES. She would be okay if she were here with friends. She needs to learn to be content even at her grandparents' houses. She'll be with a friend tomorrow night so she'll only be at my folks 2 nights. Not putting me in a nice relaxed mood, that's for sure!

Working on a top. Need to finish some posts then go sew. Natalie is going to do my nails after that!

TTYL!

Wow. I cannot even tell in the enlarged pictures that they are quilts. They look like paintings! AT first I saw $20,000 & thought that was so steep. Then seeing them, and realizing it takes 2 years to make some, that's not enough to live on. I guess he may work on more than one at a time. Or maybe he makes money on his lectures & classes or something. I saw he sells notecards & prints of his quilts. Those are just amazing.

Good morning, Dorkies!

The pool water was too warm last night. It made for a slow swim. YUCK!

Morning girls.

Leona, so sorry for your heartache with the family. Glad some good from this is being revealed.

Got home really late last eve. Went wedding shopping for the bridesmaid gifts, found what Jodi wanted, went to check out and as I was writing my check the girl tells me that I can't write the check for over $40, not posted in the store anywhere to be seen that I can remember so I told the girl to void the sale. She waits until after I start writing the check to tell me this! Looked like she was 12 and was an assistant manager! I am not ever going to shop there again, a store called Icing by Claire's. Will call to talk to the actual store manager today. Not going to do any wedding shopping today. I can't take anymore nights of getting home at 7:30 - 8:00 especially since my commute time can be between 30 - 45 min. OK, vent over.

May have to take the newest cat back to the shelter, bit me again unprovoked a couple of days ago. Don't know what else we can do to curb this. At 4 yrs old, we may not be able to break this habit of his. Prayers would be appreciated for the right decision.

Hope everyone has a good day today & TTYL!

what a pain, a lot of places won't take checks anymore such a pain too. I love my debit card as long as I have all the receipts! lol i think you need a little break from the wedding stuff it is so time consuming.

sorry about the cat biting does he do it when you go to pet him? My male cat now and the ones in the past would do this some times. the one that does it now does it when he doesn't want to be petted or if he wants me to play with him.

Hi girls, I wasn't feeling so hot yesterday and decided kind of late that I just wanted to be home. So I still had to finish up the cleaning, pack up, and 4 trips up and down 2 flights of stairs later, drove away. At midnight (11:56 to be exact) as I was driving, I saw an elk in the middle of the road. I was going under the speed limit, less than 60, and thankfully was able to respond quickly and tapped the horn while braking and praying (who knew you could do all at the same time)...it startled him and he reared back. Otherwise I think that would have been quite an impact as I didn't have a lot of room to swerve and miss. So thankful. I actually did pray about the deer and asked the Lord for protection before I started out.

And now I am home, and so glad, I have the drive behind me. But next time will leave earlier in the day. I thought it would be faster at night, but with the poorer visibility and road construction, it took longer. Didn't get in till almost 1:30.

May stamp this afternoon...

We've come close to a moose before also...but this was so close to me...
Tom and I did hit a deer last year, but just nicked it as he was almost to a stop before he got it...I felt so badly. She seemed to be ok though.

Well, need to visit my stamps...

Traci I'm so glad you didn't hit the elk, those are big animals. Not as big as a moose . . . I read backwards but I think I missed something. Joyce, did you almost hit a moose?

Leona, sorry the boys are orphans now, that is sad.

Holly, I agree it is good to have you around. Even if it is because you are recovering. But recovering is better than declining!

The therapist visit was good. She prodded me to get into some hormone replacement for being perimenopausal and to get my thyroid straightened out, because the doctor wouldn't listen to me so I basically just stopped taking my medication.

I need to find a new doctor and make an appt with the OB/GYN about hormone stuff. She told me about bio hormones and this place in Madison that sort of custom blends things according to the results of your blood test, so I'll get that in motion.

And she said if after taking care of those things that I still don't bounce back to normal, then we would look at an antidepressant.

Lori, hope you have a good weekend away. Every married couple needs that.

Beth, how was the boys' first day of school?

Grace, that would make me upset too, a store that has a weird check policy. Glad you're taking a little break from wedding planning.

Laurie, how are your viruses and your eyes?

I know there was more but I have a lot to do this afternoon and most of the day is gone.

Peggysue, my viruses are fixed, and my eyes are still extremely tired at night. Not sure how to fix that situation.

the memorial service went well...the small church was packed, standing room only. not dry eyes in the place. my neice said she wanted the song on more day diamond rio sang at her funeral. So it was done. Her parents and siblings spoke...my brother called me is sister and hugged more times in one day than he ever did in my whole life. she will be missed. my brother said he is pretty certian that she was wearing a seatbelt but unbuckled and covered baby aiden to save him.

Had a fun day today. took the kids to a new walking/biking/runnng trail. It is all paved and no cars. Isaac walked about 1 mile and Isabella was in the stroller most of the time. We ended up walking about 3 miles. I was so proud of everyone. It's been a low humidity day so it was nice. Bella fell asleep on the way home and slept for three hours. DS & I ate lunch and took a nap.

Gotta clean up and start on dinner. It's a new recipe- Linguini with Bacon and Onions.

Just a quick hello.

Have my stamp club tonight and with the boys in school I've been going over to my classroom to get it set up. So much to do. My Principal told me today that there may be enough early childhood kids to make 2-half day sessions which would mean no K for me and I may have to move rooms! Ugh. Not what I want to hear 1 1/2 weeks before school She should know more Monday so I'm just not going to worry about it until I know waht I'm doing. She's waiting on the Super to decide. So, tomorrow is a day for me to work on my class and try to get that done!

I will try to catch up later....maybe I'll take a break tomorrow and do that.

Anyway, lots going on and I hope you all are doing GREAT!

sorry about the cat biting does he do it when you go to pet him? My male cat now and the ones in the past would do this some times. the one that does it now does it when he doesn't want to be petted or if he wants me to play with him.
Holly, we have had instances of him biting totally unprovoked, petting and the last time was when I tried to pick him up to pet him. He broke the skin twice and is the one which bit my mil and put her in the hospital. Tonight, almost as soon as I let him up in the house, he jumped in my bathtub and peed down the drain. we have 2 cat boxes in the basement, so no reason for that, yesterday, he pooped in the tub, dh found that one. I am totally dumbfounded by this cat. Even being around our two well-behaved cats, he seems to be getting worse.
I don't think we have much choice except to take him back to the shelter.

Leona, I'm so sorry for your loss and the boys. Glad it was a nice service for everyone.

PS, well duh! You should never go to a dr that doesn't listen to you. You are paying them to serve you. Not the other way around. Finding a good dr is very hard.

Sounds like a fun day Wendy. It's been raining here all day. I went to WalMart to get some material for my first video tutorial. I did the first one but it didn't have sound, so going to try to use Ustream this time. My voice is awful! But that is a whole other story.....

That is too funny!

I already got a referral list from them so tomorrow I'm going to start calling a few doctors to get an appointment.
