Traci, I know there is a web site that shows super cute ideas with various cuts of fabric, sold precut, some are called jelly rolls, others are called other things . . . let me see if I can find it.

Okay, so being a dork, I am slow to process. A sick dork, no less. NOW I get it. what Traci is saying & what you other moms with older kids would also say is that sometimes no matter what you say your kids don't think it's the right thing. I think I get it! By George! We're at the teenage, "You just don't understand! Nobody understands!" Or, "No, just listen to me! What I'm trying to say is...." And I repeat exactly their words & it's not the right words. Am I close? Am I learning the mom rules yet? Mothering is a tough job!

Now to go take my children to bed. Good night dear dorks!

Karen,

The handbook that came with your phone should tell you how to do this.

With my phone I have the following 3 options. #1 can be done from any phone with e-mail capabilities. #2 & #3 may not be available on all phones.
1. Send yourself and e-mail with the pic attached.
2. Remove the SD card and insert it into your computer. (This will most likely be a micro SD card that needs to be slipped into a micro adapter (should have come with the phone) and then the micro adapter can be inserted into the slot in the computer.
3. Attach the phone to the computer using the USB cable. (This is an attachment for the phone that you may have to purchase.)

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year's Eve.

PS: Glad to hear you called a specialist. I was going to suggest that. I have a friend who adopted 3 children from China and one sounds like your DD's twin. All 3 had issues from being in the orphanage. My late brother's wife's, brother had adopted 2 boys and 1 girl from Russia. One boy was very much like your DD. The used time out's, professional help, and support groups for other's in their situation. They helped them keep their sanity and realize that they were not alone. These children have major bonding issues and that is why they act out. They don't know how to get close to anyone. The older they were when adopted, the worse it was. All have turned out pretty good to date. My friend did have to give up their one daughter. They found another family who could better deal with the issues and worked with them over a period of time (DD living with the other couple and my friend being kept informed and visiting.) She behaved and was happier with this other couple so they gave her up and the other couple adopted her. She is now doing much better.

Since you have contacted professional help, I would suggest you try and find others in your area (support group) that you can talk to.

Hope this helps.

Karen (middle name TOP SECRET)

Thanks for sharing your knitting projects. You enabled me so much that for Christmas I knitted gifts for my family for Christmas. We no longer exchange gifts, but this year I just felt I had to. I knitted a shrug for my oldest niece and hats for 8 of the others. (4 others got a little gift I felt was them.) I was going to knit 4 shrugs, but it took me a week to do the one and I was running out of time.

I have also torn apart a sweater (the big pink/purple) one I had crocheted as I felt I wouldn't use it. I knitted a cardigan and really love it. I am now working on a shrug for myself.

The theraphy has been fantastic and I thank you for being my enabler.

Good morning girls!

Hi Robyn, you have such helpful advice! How was your Christmas? Just read all your knitting projects, wow, wow, wow, you go girl!! That is wonderful!!

We are supposed to be -11 today, I think our winter hit a little late. Unfortuantely, DH has to drive to Denver too, so is out there tryiing to clear off the driveway. He has had the week off, it's been nice. Well, all except the driving part where I seriously wanted to hit him. Other than that....

Lori, you make me laugh. Out of all you wrote, I am thinking, when did I ever say I am not a worrier? It is one of my worst faults, I can worry at the least amount of things, like boil your soup or you might get salmonella, or if we go on a snowmobile you can't drive crazy or I won't go...but things like bombings or big things...I say God is in control.
Well, when our kids were your kids age, I welcomed a few days alone too, so you are not alone with that. I think it is healthy!!
Thanks PS, for finding that link, I haven't visited yet, but sounds just like I was looking for!

Boy am I chatty today. Hope no one minds.

Christmas was quiet. Christmas Eve, my sister from CO called and we opened our presents from each other. Usually it is just us 3 who exchange gifts. Sun, 12/26, My DS and DIL came down. We had dinner and a real nice visit. Told them about the possible job and they both said....Go for it!. My DS (31) went back to college and is a Junior. He has to do an internship this summer and one of the places he is looking at is less than 2 hours from where the job is.....so we could visit if both pan out.

Letting kids go is so hard. As MOM's we are programmed to worry. My son and his wife have travelled to England, France, Switzerland and Italy and I worried the entire time. They loved it and want to go back. My son lived in CA for a year and loved it. I worked the whole time. He lives 2 hours from me and I constantly worry that they are ok.

My mom in 84 and I am 58....When I go anywhere, I have to call her and let her know I arrived safe. If I am going to be late, getting home, I have to call and let her know. She worries that if I take this job, something is going to happen to me.

I understand her concerns and know that it is only because she loves me.

Robyn, of course we don't mind you being chatty, that's what we do here.

I am excited for you about the job, glad that you decided that this might be a good fit, now if they only do the same.

Joyce, best wishes for Ash's interview!

Now you moms are not giving me much hope for the future! LOL! My MIL isn't always worried about us but she is a control person, as is my dad, so they'd prefer to TELL us what to do. I am hoping NOT to be THAT mom/MIL when my kids are big. Offer advice when asked or needed, but not try to tell them how to live.

I'll be the mom who wants to know where they are, though, at all times, I'm sure!

I am alive, barely, but alive....

We had a great trip to Texas.

Last night we went to visit DH's grandmother. It's was DH's first time to the house after Papa's death. It was my 3rd. Still very weird.

Was supposed to go to lunch with some college friends and have another family over for a little party tonite, but.... I woke up with a stomach bug and spent most of the morning on the potty. I feel better now, but we cancelled everything b/c I didn't want to anybody else sick.

DS is playing in the snow.

Thanks again for all the super thoughtful sympathy cards. They really did mean alot to me.

Traci, you are so funny. I guess you've said you weren't the worrier in your family meaning others worried more & the big things you don't worry about. Is it bad to say I'm glad to hear you worry about the little things, too? LOL! You can still be my hero!

PS, hope each day is a little brighter than the one before. When does Jeff arrive?

Hope you have a great NYE tonight!

Jeff will be here tomorrow or Sunday, he doesn't have a cell phone with him, so I won't hear from him until he pulls into the driveway. The snow is melting rapidly, but the temperatures are supposed to dip into the 20s on Sunday, so all that melted water is going to freeze! I'm going to be sure the house is well stocked with groceries so we won't have to go out in the iciness. Lori, this all must seem almost unreal to you, what are the temperatures where you are right now? And when is the last time you had snow?

Yes, I am finding bright spots in every day. I got an idea from reading a book Voices in the Wind by Francine Rivers -- an excellent book, by the way, if you're looking for a gripping page turner -- to tell littlest DD stories about Jesus while we're doing household tasks. Now, she keeps trying to change the subject and is clearly uncomfortable whenever I start talking about him, but maybe it will be like water dripping on a stone and eventually some will sink in.

Today we were talking {or rather I was talking and she was doing her best to not listen} about the fact that from the bible we know that Jesus had brothers and sisters, that he was the oldest in the family. I bet he had chores when he was younger, don't you? What do you suppose those might have been? His dad, Joseph was a carpenter, so that meant working with wood and lots of sawdust. They didn't have shop vacs then, suppose he had to sweep up? Fetch things for his mom to help take care of the babies?

That sort of thing . . . its an idea . . . might help, might not. All I can do is try.

This is one heck of a learning experience for you PS, but I'm betting you will ace it in the end!

Ash had the interview and let's just say she wasn't impressed. She walked into the DR's office and they were openingly talking about an issue with a patient. Then the billing girl said to Ashlyn, this is the other receptionist, she doesn't do anything, just get's paid to look pretty. Ashlyn went dressed for a professional interview and she said they were all in jeans and t-shirts. And the Dr said to her the job is dependent on how much a person on maternitiy leave wants to do when she comes back. Ashlyn said it didn't look like anyone did anything there as charts were just stacked everywhere. And they guy said he the salary is such and such, under the table. I'm thinking she just might just want to stear clear of that office. So let's hope she get's another interview soon.

What is everyone's plans for the evening? We are staying in as always, but picked up a pizza for later and some snacks. My parents will come over a while and that is about it. Tomorrow will be pork and saur kraut. Sounds like Ashlyn will be DD for her friend. (He's been around 7 months, but haven't heard the word boyfriend yet)

Oh, the quilt shop was closed. I was bummed. It must have been gone a while.
Happy New Year!

Yeah, I got some got up and went! LOL! It stopped raining and I did sprints/walks for 2 miles with the dog. That got my bum moving. I hate sprints but its a good way to increase speed and stride when you run. Learning all sorts ofnew things. Iposted what I ran on Facebook and one the nurse from my school posted "I like Fartleks". I was like HUH??? Well, I do too but really....to post that on FAcebook! LOL! She then went on to say it's Swedish for 'speed training' which is what I was running. Totally made me crack up. I told her I was glad she explained that one cuz I thought she was talking about bodily functions.

PS, I think that is a great idea to bring those types of discusisons into what you guysa re doing around the house...even on a walk or whatever you are doing. MIght get her mind off how mad she is about her situation to really tuning in and listening. Maybe, maybe not but you are right...it's worth a try. Hugs, sweet one!

Joyce, bummer about the interview. Sounds like anot so great place to work. And sorry about the quilt shop....that stinks too. drats!

Well, Doug, the two big boys and Ben went to our friends house to play games. I just took Sam's friend home and Sam is in the shower. We are leaving soon to go to the friends house where Doug and boys are. They always throw a big NYE party and we've not ever been able to go.Thought the big boys would enjoy that. I'm ready for some quiet time though....last night we did watch Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and oh, forget the girls name...oh, Cameron Diaz. She's so cute and he's still pretty buff after all these years. I kept falling asleep. If you've seen the movie you willlaugh at it cuz falling asleep is a big part of the movie! Ha!

I'm starting to get really sad about our big boys leaving. We all just adore Dennis so much. HIs brother we are getting to know but his English is not as good as Dennis'. Dennis has been here 3x and worked here for that month so his English is great. Just love him to pieces and do NOT want to put him on that plane. I have to work on Monday and they leave before I get home. I'm going to be so sad all day at work. I could really just sit and cry and have a big pitty party about it.

Well, I need to go check on Sam who is 'supposed' to be in the shower!!!

Got a few minutes and got some pics off the camera. Here's our boys in their German soccer jerseys and our big boys in their Colt's jerseys. Then the little candle thing the big boys brought over. So sweet.

I was going to knit 4 shrugs, but it took me a week to do the one and I was running out of time.

I have also torn apart a sweater (the big pink/purple) one I had crocheted as I felt I wouldn't use it. I knitted a cardigan and really love it. I am now working on a shrug for myself.

The theraphy has been fantastic and I thank you for being my enabler.
Wow!!!
Awesome!!
Anytime!! I am a good enabler when it comes to buying yarn too!

Lori, I figured out how to get the picture, thanks for all of your help!

Traci, thanks for your suggestion. I just really want to make that exact hat in those colors. You know how you get a bug about something and nothing else will do? That's how it is with this one.

I see I missed about a page of posts so I shall go back and read them.

Beth, didn't your German sons just get there? They are leaving already? That seems so fast. Thanks for sharing all of the pictures.

Robyn, sorry I said thanks to Lori instead of you about the phone pics. I guess I wasn't paying attention to who wrote it!

PS, I hope your trickle method works! Oh, and the boys are enjoying the Sticky Situations book!!

Wendy, sorry to hear you were/are sick. I hope it passes (hahaha!!) soon!

Joyce, I hope Ashlyn stays clear of that place!!

Did I get everyone?? I hope so!

OK, friends.
...my head is spinning. We have had a few things converge at once, emergency night phone calls, and then one again about noon from the nurse who was there to check on my Dad. He went home Wednesday. Her call was on the frantic side, telling me that my Dad must have had a stroke during the night, he was unable to take care of himself, much less my Mom. Then after I ask several questions, I get on the phone with my mom and she confirms that yes, he did have a small stroke. Well, he has had a stroke several years ago, so this is important. I call my aunt and she is driving to take Dad to the Emergency room.
So I call my brother at work and he is worried and ask him to leave his shift and go there and check on them. He will be off over the weekend, and can stay. And he does.
We are both so worried, i am crying all afternoon wondering if I should drive there, but it is the worst storm of the year. Then he calls me and said that the emergency room people checked him out thoroughly and no stroke.
Meanwhile DH is in Denver dealing with another family emergency.
So I told my brother that I will be there this week as soon as I drop off DD on the plane ...that will be a fun trip!
I cancelled our New Year's plans earlier today, asking for prayer for Dad.
I am relieved, but still shaking my head. It is not good that the nurse thinks he had a stroke, but maybe she just didn't know how he normally looks. I am going to call my mom tomorrow and see what she thinks.

Traci, I wonder if not a stroke, what can the problem be? Oh, I will be praying and thinking about you. Be very careful driving!!!! I saw those mountain passes, too bad you cannot tunnel underneath instead!

I forgot, in the midst of everything else, to tell you guys I am going to be a great aunt, two times over. DH's niece and his nephew's wife are both pregnant, one is due in July, the ohter in August. Neither lives close, one is in Boston and the other in Virginia, but it was happy news.

I feel like it is grandmother practice!

Wow, lots going on.

Traci, I can't imagine what was going through everyone's mind based on the conversations with the nurse. Yikes! Glad that your father seems to be ok for now. Please have a safe drive to their home.

Congrats to you PS. Wish I could offer some advice on dealing with Shania. Hugs to you.

Joyce, sorry about the quilt shop, but the scarf is beautiful as are you in the photo!

Sorry to have been more MIA or very non commenting lately, it's mostly because I'm tired. I get whiny then... a trait I really don't like about myself. I've found that it is better if I just keep my thoughts in my head or in my journal, otherwise I fall into a really negative frame of mind and it shows in everything I say or do with others.
Have some family stuff going on that is a bit stressing but don't want to talk about since there are no good solutions at the time.

I will echo my earlier post in hoping everyone has a very happy new year!

Thanks Peggysue and Grace. If my mom's mom was not still alive and living in the same town as them, I would be doing my best to get them here. This has been so stressful!!
And it is just part of what's going on lately.
Deep breaths...about to watch a movie and relax.
I am glad not to be out tonight.

Grace, I know what you mean about negative thoughts. Sometimes those seem to take over our thinking, and a journal is a great way to voice them. The other night I was overcome with bad thoughts, worries, etc...and just asked for help in prayer. The next morning my black cloud was gone, and it really was the difference between night and day.

What is this snow of which you speak? We've had "sprinkles" of snow every few years about one day (about 5 min.) in SOME parts of the city. I think we had a few flakes last year. Snowflakes. We have flakes all the time. The last time we had measurable snow in San Antonio was in 1985 I think. Corpus & Houston have had snow, and even just north of us in the "Hill Country" but not in SA.

I told her I was glad she explained that one cuz I thought she was talking about bodily functions.
That's funny. I'll have to tell my Swedish family about that. Did you know my family was Swedish?

Bummer on both counts (job & store), but I'm sure it was good experience for her to interview. Have you ever checked out Fabric - Discount Fabric - Apparel Fabric - Home Decor Fabric - Quilting Fabric - Save up to 70% - Fabric.com Or Thousands of Bolts ... only one nut!:

Oh, dear Traci! I'm so glad your brother is there to check on them. I'm so sorry they've been through this today & that you have had to deal with it alone from far away. What day does your daughter leave? Please let us know how things go the next few days. Will be praying.
