Yesterday was wonderful (60-ish), today is cold again. But I'm quite happy not to have any of y'all's snow! This time last year we were moving and it was nothing but ice!!! The kids were out of school for almost a week.
Hi Karen and Vicki - how's the weather in your neck of the woods?
Our entire county is shut down today!!!
Well it stopped snowing, yay.. we ended up getting 14 inches total, and the ride to work this morning sucked. It took us over 2 hours, but at least we got here safely. Hopefully they will have the roads a little more clear for the ride home. We are supposed to get more snow tomorrow night, but at least I won't have to get up and go to work the next morning, hehe. Although my friend is having a jewelry party on Saturday, so I have to go to that... hehe, but she is having it at my house, so no travel. Just have to get out and get groceries for what we are making. I am going to have a card workshop immediately following (it's the same girs who come to my workshops who are coming for the jewelry party, so they asked for cards after the jewelry party, hehe) and I need to get my projects together for that, so hopefully the ride home today will be better.
I was also supposed to have lunch with peggysue today, but because of the weather we had to postpone it, so I am bumming about that. We are going to try again next week though, yay.

Wow, I can't believe that it has already been a year since you moved. Where does the time go???
And add winter in there with the traffic and it becomes an hour. Isn't that crazy? We live 'near' each other, but not so near?
I had a three foot high wall of snow at the end of my driveway this morning left as a gift by the snowplow. The heavy, filled with ice chunks stuff. Ugh! Took me an hour to clear it away.
And yes, yay! Let's hope for no snow next week so lunch becomes a reality!
Hi girls. The phone interview was canceled in favor of an in-person interview tomorrow! Aaacckkk!!! The job is in Riverside County, which is a couple of hours from here, but just happens to be close to where my friend lives - and I just happened to be planning to visit her this weekend. So I mentioned to the editors that I could just come in person and they said sure. I had to tell my boss I was interviewing, because I had to take the day off to go. She was cool - totally surprised and actually almost in tears at the idea of me leaving. Then I had to remind her that it could go totally badly and I'd still be at my paper for a long time! Anyway, thanks everyone for all your good wishes! I'll let you know how it went when I get home Saturday.
I wanted to leave a message wishing you good luck Michelle! Please let us know how it went!
And Patty, the name of that book sound so familiar. I think I might have read it years ago . . . it is about a little girl from a highly abusive family who gets kind of adopted into a family, but she's so twisted and evil she kind of gets everything her own way . . . down through the generations, ruins her own daughter, etc.? Talks to her dead mother?
So today was cookie pickup day. There were 4 women who helped me load up my van....but just little ole me to get it unloaded. I finished unloading with about 5 minutes to spare before I had to get the kids. The girls were a huge help though and we got all the orders sorted. Now I just have to hope that all the parents will come tomorrow to get their orders so that my living room can go back to normal.

Hey peggysue....what is the set challenge in your siggy about?
I've been wondering that too!
Karen, are you happy about your decision? I know on the demo side of the board I plan to only hostess my challenge for one year then I'm going to pass it off. But for demo's I think this will give us a more well - rounded bunch of ideas.
Yes - very happy. I've actually been thinking about it for a long time, but kept getting talked out of it, lol. I do/did enjoy it, but my life is so crazy right now that I just don't want to have to think about it (ya know - stamping for it has become of those 'have to' and I really need more 'want to' cards). If Stephanie gets tired of it (as long as it is after June) I'll take it back, but I'm sure there are other people out there who wouldn't mind a try and new blood is always a good thing.
Wooohooooo I just checked on my StampinUp order - it shipped! I should have it in a few days! The bad thing is there aren't too many stamp sets - I ended up ordered some punches I've been wanting (new ones) and textured paper...but still...something new and fun!
OK, so I just got a box in the mail from a secret sis swap - it smells like cigarettes. I don't see anyone regularly that smokes, so that smell is so pungent...ugh! Any suggestions? There is a cute felt bag that the girls would love to play with, but I'm not giving it to them smelling like that!
Karen, sorry I have no suggestions for getting smoke smell out. I understand if you live in a house where a smoker lived previously it soaks into the walls, the floorboard. No ideas.
Stamping . . . I am hoping to stamp sometime this weekend maybe? I have a ton of writing work to do, in fact one assignment that I thought was due March 15 is actually due February 15th, so I have to get my bootie moving. I was working on stuff all day. Yippee for our budget once the checks roll in.
The challenge. That started in December and the challenge involves using thirty different sets as the MAIN focus of a card or stamped creation before you buy a new stamp set. You can buy supplies, like glue, but no stamp sets. And I've been stuck in the upper 20s for ages now. Its a good little challenge because it forces you to use old stuff you haven't used in a while, and then you can decide maybe you really like it and want to keep it, or you just don't like it and then you can trade it away for something better. It also makes you go through your stamp stash and you realize, 'hey, I have something already that looks a lot like the new must-have set everyone is talking about so perhaps I don't need that set after all." Just kind of a little accountability thing and it helps me keep things in perspective and better in line with the budget!

Well being an ex-smoker (day 23 and going & I didn't smoke in my house!) put it in a zip baggie with some crumpled up newspaper & a dryer sheet for a day or so, that usually helps - then FeBreeze it if you can still smell it. You could try hand washing it, felt should hold up to that.
And I'll bet your little sis would be mortified if you knew that it smelled that bad to you, I'll bet she can't smell it all even if she's not the smoker - KWIM?

I know you have and I'm happy that it will relieve some of your stress, but sad cuz I won't be "in the know" anymore

Yes, I know - so I'm not saying anything to her (it isn't really secret, lol). And my sister smokes so I know how they can't smell it....not to mention when I was younger I was married to a smoker and after awhile I never smelled it either. Thanks for the tips!!
I think I'm going to go clean of my stamp table and work on some of my stuff for my workshop on Monday - this is the first one I've had since before Christmas! And I have four more scheduled after this one!
I'm checking in and trying not to cough on anyone. I didn't go back to work yet and am on the last day of the Z pack but still am on the inhaler every 4 hours. I am supposed to go back to work on Tuesday and see the Dr next Thursday for another chest x-ray so we will see how the week end goes I guess.
I was going through my paper work on the counter and came across my car registration and driver's license renewal which expires on Monday, ugh ! So I had to shower and go to the SOS and renew today and that tuckered me right out. I have to say that Ole Grumpypants has been a Prince this week, waiting on me and driving me to the SOS today too.
Six years ago my renewal was right after I had a sinus surgery and the pic on my license was ghastly, todays pic is not much better, lol !
We sure did get dumped on with snow, didn't we !
Good luck on the interview Michelle ! Now to go see what Denise posted on the VSN board
Joni, ugh, so sorry you're sick, but glad that your DH (who I presume is playing the role of ol' grumpypants) is taking good care of you.
I almost burnt the house down this morning when my heat gun fell off the counter in the mudroom into a carton full of paper and the button switched itself on . . . foolish, foolish me leaving it plugged in last night because I was distracted and not careful.

Yikes! I would hope it would take a while to actually catch on fire though!!!
I'm here for a moment, but have to go read a bedtime story to DD. Patty, sorry you have a head-ick.
I figure we were about one minute or less away from a total conflagration. The cardboard had a hole burnt through it, and the cabinet door behind it was burnt brown and smoking . . . we were very lucky we found it. Either the heat gun fell and turned itself on or the cat knocked it down, either way it was all my fault for leaving it plugged in.

That is scary Peggysue!! I have knocked mine over before and had it turned on - thankfully always right when I am there. I have curious kitties too, so I try to be careful...but I have come down sometimes and found it still plugged in. They are dangerous! Someone should make one where the switch is harder to turn on.
Hi girls! So much to catch up on around here!
Karen, I said it in the IC, but I'll say it here, too. I'm going to miss your challenges each week, but I totally understand why you're stopping! Thanks for doing it so long!
PeggySue, whew! I'm so glad you're OK and your house didn't burn down. And yay! about the extra work.
Joni, I hope you start to feel better soon! You've been sick for so long!
Patty, WOOHOO!!!!! on the quitting smoking. That is absolutely fantastic. I'm very proud of you!
