Good morning ladies!

Looks like rain here today. Will be glad to have a day that's not so hot! Still trying to get a few things done before we pack our bags and head off to the UK next Wednesday. Have an 'order' for a whole load of birthday cards to make for our Hospice society. Need to check out my stash of card fronts! That would cut down on the number I have to make from scratch. So today may be a good day for crafting!

Nancy, I have a whole load of little crochet projects to go, just need the motivation to get started. Do have some knitting on the go too so maybe that's why I'm a little reluctant to start on the next craft. also would like to do some sewing but need to find the sewing machine and some of the fabric stash I have somewhere!! Sounds like you're enjoying the grandkids being around again!

Robin, DH has no date to go back to work hence the trip to the UK. He is coming back week before me but only because he has a specialist appt which he should have had months ago! Trouble is when I suggested he call and mke it when in Montreal( I know thw wait times for this dr) he resisted the temptation to do as I suggested!!!! Typical male, should just have made the appts myself so they were at least more convenient for us. We have also just heard his youngest brother has had a heart attack and has been into hospital and had an angioplasty with 2 stents fitted to one of his main arteries! He's a very lucky chap as he didn't even know he'd had a heart attack, was sick last winter with a severe chest infection. He's not quite 50 so just a bit older than my kids. 20 years difference between him and DH. Trouble is he's a policeman and who knows what this now means for his career. His family are just counting their blessings he's still with them 'cos it could have been a whole ot different!

Need to go and put the dishwasher on, DH actually fixed it so no more washing the dishes by hand!! Yay!! i wonder what else I can get him to fix before he disappears off the scene again. MMmmmm, the list has only one thing checked off. lol

Take care and have a good weekend, ladies.

Ruth, glad to hear Rexs' brother is doing ok like you say, could have been another story! Nice to hear you're both going overseas to see the family have fun!

I've been in the craft room getting together some stuff for a garage/craft sale in August, I'd like to downsize, organize, clean out! I'm tired of all my stuff taking up so much room---stuff I don't even use. I still haven't tried taking apart my wooden stamps, might tackle that tomorrow
It all started when I had to clean a space for my new Calibur (no regrets there), so I just kept going and doing more.

Sure nice to have a bit of cooler weather, even a bit of rain. My lawn was starting to look a bit dry in places!

Hope you are all doing well enjoy the week ahead!

tgif! And it promises to be a good weekend. DD is arriving tomorrow for a few days, dh arrived last night, so lots of company for me.

My sewing machine is in for its annual tune up, so I am scrap booking. I just saw that scrapbookers paradise in red deer is closing out, so I am going to go into town and go through the stores. I have realized I am really missing manly paper. Hunting pics and flowers don't go well together at all.

Anyone free on the long weekend?

Robin, sounds like your weekend is shaping up nicely
DeeDee, my daughter who lives in Vancouver, got here yesterday and is staying till Sunday. We were out to lunch and supper and some shopping/looking after her flight got in at 11am. And today we are out for lunch and some more shopping/looking.
She's started her online Daycare Activity packages--if you would like to see, checkout RingADingDing! Fun and simple teaching resources!

I've not accomplished a thing in my craft room, I hope I get my mojo back, but all of a sudden the other day (after I started clearing) I didn't even want to look at the room. It's the weirdest feeing and I hope it goes away!

Anyway, I'm going to really enjoy the weekend with my DD. Daryl and his family went on a little holiday, after settling into the new house, and they will be back today so looking forward to lots of visiting

Hope you all have a great weekend too

Good morning!

Nancy, have you been back into your room yet? Maybe you just don't like the thought of having to go through all of your treasures and weed them out. Hard to say goodbye to some of the old friends.

Just cooking breakfast and looking at home network videos. I am proud of myself, I finished 2 double layouts for my scrapbook this week. I actually get something done when I have less to chose from, imagine that.

We got notice that Scrapbookers paradise in Red Deer is closing in just a couple of weeks, so I went in yesterday and picked up some things. Mainly some hunting paper and stickers. There wasn't much there. I overheard them say when the Managers came to tell them they were closing down, they packed up a bunch of things like the copics, so there isn't much in the store at all. But lots of shoppers.

Ttys

I had heard about the Red Deer store closing. What a shocker! Must be heartbreak for those living in the area but it is a sign of the times. Ordering online has been getting easier and I saw an ad in the newspaper saying Jo Anns is now shipping to Canada...... probably doesn't help the cause.

Paper Pastimes in Calgary has moved into their new space, and I stumbled upon it by accident... as it is on Fairmount Drive, not far form me. Located in a strip mall not too far from My Sewing Room. They are in the same mall as Spiceland for those familiar with the area. They still have their other store open on Thursdays and Fridays to sell off stuff they are not moving over.

Getting into the swing of things over here again! It's so laid back and relaxing! Unfortunately had to make a hospital visit this afternoon, Rex's youngest sister's husband is very sick and the consultant has told her it's just a matter of hours now. Wasn't expecting this as we had heard last week, he was recovering nicely from surgery. Rex is not good with hospital visiting and as his BIL is just a year okder than him, he was quite upset even though we haven't been close with them for a number of years now. It's a sad situation.

We have also got a wedding to look forward to and meeting up with most of my immediate family minus the odd nephew or two! Next week we will be at our daughters, both child minding for one day and then cat sitting as they go to the Olympics in London for a couple of days! They are going to the field hockey semi finals and something else but I can't remember what! So glad I am not going, can't cope with all those crowds anymore!!!!

Need to get out some card making stuff tomorrow, am having craft withdrawal symptons. LOL

Take care. ladies, hope your week is going well.

Ruth, sorry to hear the news, hope Rex doesn't stress too much. Hopefully that cute little GS will cheer him.

My back is much better today, still using the cane now and then, but mostly getting around without it. No scrap room for a bit, but will get back in there soon!

Drake and family will be down this weekend, we're planning our trip to Disneyland

The lady who's doing my painting comes in tomorrow. She's just coming to look and then will start next week.

Have a great week everyone

Have to work today but taking a slow start to the day.

Nancy, I'm happy to see you are recovering. Nothing worse than a back ache. What colors are you painting with?

Ruth, hopefully Rex's attention gets turned to something positive and he can start feeling better. These kind of times can be rough.

I get to see Christine this weekend! She has an SU order for me, so we are meeting for lunch in Didsbury. I am happy.

2 more layouts done with 1 started on the table. It feels good to get some done, and I even used an old SU scrap kit!

Better run.....

Hi Ladies
No painter came, but if that's an example of her then maybe I don't want her--it would have been nice if she had phoned.
Oh well, I didn't really feel like having it done when my back was bugging me. It is quite a bit better, but I'm going for a massage this morning
My DDIL has offered to come and do some painting when school goes in and I think I'll take her up on it! I want the livingroom, kitchen, dining, and hall done in beige with a feature colour on one wall in livingroom and one in dining room--not sure of the colours yet.
I have tried out my Grand Caliber and wish I hadn't bought it I am so used to the cuttlebug with the drop down 'shelf' things. with the GC you have to put the sandwich together and hold it carefully to start and turn the handle a million times to get it through (slight exaggeration)---maybe it just takes getting used too?

I'm having a scrap get-together here this weekend. My Brother comes on Sunday evening for a couple of days on his way north for hunting. I may go back with him to Port Alberni for a week or so

Ok, I must get moving, hope you're all enjoying summer

Good Sunday Morning Ladies ~
Not having checked in for a bit, it was so great to read about everyone's comings and goings and what not's. Ruth hope DH is ok and you too. Seems like alot going on for you. Enjoy the coast while you can and this great weather.
We have doen some really wonderful things this summer, makes it feel like summer when getting out and enjoying the weather! Had a couple wonderufl motorcylce trips, up to Sundre last Saturday and found a small lake, Phyllis lake and DH fished and I read. Went to a 25th wedding aniversary party in Bragg Creek, Russian style and danced under the stars till about 3 am, was so wonderful!
Working two jobs is a bit taxing I must say. But all for a good cause when it comes to DS. He comes home for a week at the end of August. Just a tad excited!
Company arriving today from Powell River,BC - a girlfriend and two 14 year olds...been a longwhile since teenagers in our house and girls as well!
We are heading to Saskatoon for 4 days next week. It's our grand holiday this year! We havent been East so we thought it was a good start to see what it's all about. 26 years of wedded bliss this Thursday. Must say it feels good to see the years creep up ~ or maybe I am just glad that he still puts up with me.
Scrapbooker's in Red Deer (for the scrapbooking gossip side) only closed as the landlord rented the space out from her as she has been on a month to month. (That's the sotry we were told) She has said if there is reasonable space up there she will reopen. Yup you are right they did pack up all the good stuff and shipped it to Crowfoot and Macleod. I have noticed being back that there isnt the volume of stock of anymore. It's very different. There is a beautiful Tim Holtz and Graphic 45 Christmas line coming in. I will let you know when it arrives so you can be Johnny on the spot!
Well I have to work today at noon (yucco) especially on a Sunday. So I must get ready and get the groceries before our company arrives.
Looking forward to Deb's in September. How is that shapingup Deb, need a hand with anything?
Diane how is that new sewing machine? Are you giving it a workout?

Enjoy your Sunday ladies and take care!

No, there won't be anything that I'll need help with Gayle. If Dana goes ahead with her grand opening of her new salon, I will have to out for a little bit on the Saturday - but that is no big deal. I'll arrange all the meals - they'll be simple, but good. If we are a small group, we'll just set up tables in my house. If there is a bigger group, we'll set the tables up in Brian's "shed" (it's probably nicer than my house)!

Hello, Hello...

The summer sure is whizzing on by quickly.

Nancy, sorry about your back, my dear. Hope it is healing up nicely.

Ruth, hugs for you and Rex. Family is important and I hope you both have whatever time you need with your loved ones. And Happy birthday, dearie.

Gayle, I would say we need to meet up to catch up but you sound terribly busy.
And yes, I have been FMQ. I hope to get better every day. Only broke three needles last weekend At this rate, I will make needlemakers rich.

Deb, if there is anything we can do to make organizing easier, please let us know. I am game to help.

Hello ladies!

Spending the last few days in the UK quietly on my own at Rex's sisters place. Had a lovely few days with DD and DGS after DH went back to Vancouver but boy, is that 6 year old tiring!! He never stops unless he's watching tv or asleep!!!! Anyway DD and I got to go out for a girlie evening on my birthday. Rex would have stayed but had to go back for 2 drs appointments, just follow ups but important nevertheless. All is good though with the results so he's both relieved and happier! My nieces wedding was a lovely day spent with our extended family then the following week we got to catch up with all DH's siblings + many nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews and their families albeit at a funeral. I am glad we happened to be there because we were able to show that we do care even if we don't live in the UK anymore and are not in such close contact with everyone.

Going to meet up with my youngest sister and her DH later for a meal before they go away on holiday tomorrow. We have had the most awful rain and stormy weather the past two days. Amazing to see how powerful the sea is when whipped up by storms coming in from the Atlantic Ocean! One thing I miss more thsn anything!! It's looking good today though and the early sea mist cleared quite quickly. Better make a move, can't sit here all day.

Take care ladies and have a wonderful weekend.

Wow, I'm glad this week is now over. It was so busy, but also so rewarding. On Wednesday we had an open house at our business. We had just under 700 for lunch. It was such a great turn-out. And we once again were reminded at just what a terrific staff we have. We know that, but every so often it is just above and beyond. We are so blessed!

Yesterday we had our staff BBQ at our house. We fed just under 100 people. The meal was so good. Then Gord Bamford and his band played for a few hours. What fun we had! The last people left our place at 4 this morning!

All I can say for our 30th Anniversary is -- WOW, WHAT A PARTY. So fun, but I'm tired and am happy that it is now all over. Lots of work, but so rewarding!

Now next weekend my very good friend's son is getting married. I volunteered to make and cook, serve and clean-up, for the rehearsal party. They are getting married at her house. I remember when Tyler got married just how stressful that weekend was (and the wedding was not even at our house). Another friend is going to help me once we are at her place. It will be lots of fun. She just wants lasagne and the fixings - so it'll be easy.

I'm also in an Alberta Golf tournament for two days this week. Not sure I'm up for it, but it'll be fun too.

So that's partly why I haven't been on here lately.

Then Sept 7 will be here before we know it. I look forward to that weekend! It'll be fun. And I have lots of pictures to scrap!

Deb, just resding your post makes me feel exhausted!!!! Sounds like you have worked and partied hard lately, glad it was enjoyable though.

Nancy how's your back doing now? Hopefully better. Did you get your painting done with your DIL?

Looking forward to being back home in my airconditioned place of residence! It's been a lovely day here today and I have all the windows open to let the breeze blow thru but I am still warm. The sun shines on this house all day from various angles so nowhere is that cool. Fortunately we are at the top of a very steep hill so there is more of a breeze than down at sea level! Can see both the promenade and the bay from this vantage point so it's definitely a house with a view!

hope everyone else is doing ok. Take care ladies and enjoy the rest of the summer. Sounds like it has at least been sunny even on the Lower mainland lately!

So how is everyone? It's been a gorgeous day here again after yesterdays thunder and lightening and heavy rain! Went to Costco for the first time in ages! Some pretty Christmas crackers but I didn't feel in the mood to buy Christmas stuff yet!! Hoping we`ll get the chance to go to DDs for the holidays. My keyboard seems to be on the alternate (French) carriage. Not sure how I`ve made that happen and it won`t go back until I switch off! Annoys me!!

Glad to see those of you who got together at Debs had a good time. Maybe next year!

Better go, need to finish a few things before I settle down for the evening. Might do some more knitting. Just completed a rather nice patterned scarf, basically it has a variety of `sample` patterns, rather like it!

Have a good week, ladies.

Morning !

Sorry that its been ages since you heard from me - this Stampin Up 'thing' is just taking off, and I feel that I am continually playing catch up.

I haven't managed to catch up with everything yet, but I'm hoping to over the next few days.

We've had masses of building work done this summer. With all the scaffolding wrapped around the house, its been like living in the centre of a theme park !! Its all done now, and just the internal decorating to do. As always, it will all just be painted very plain - I can't live with patterns ... how ironic ?!! however, I have put up red spotty curtains in the kitchen which look really cute, and I've now gone for a patterned curtain in the lounge ... just hope that I can live with them as they have cost a fortune.

Aaron did amazingly well in his exams, and was offered his first choice College. I can't believe that he is a College student - he is growing up sooooooo fast - too fast for me !

Stewart is just Stewart. Although he does record and then post all my customers parcels for me. He will hand deliver locally as well, so its nice that he is supporting my business in some way.

I also have amazing news ...... I achieved Rising Star ! Its been a lot of hard, hard work, but I am just overjoyed to have reached my targets.

I hope you are all well, and forgive me for my absence.

Catch y'all soon - love 'n' hugs xxxxxxxxxxx

Hey Carole. Nice to hear from you. As I follow you on FB as well, I do know that you are a very busy lady. And I love your red spotted curtains! Glad to hear that Aaron has done so well. It is so nice when we, as parents, can be so proud of our children.

We are off to a family wedding on the top of the mountain at Kicking Horse Resort in Golden, BC this weekend. The only way to get to the Chalet is to ride the gondola to the top. I hear it is breathtaking beautiful. It will be so nice to see all the family again. A nephew has flown in from Amsterdam and Brian's brother and his family have driven up from Arizona. Oh, oh - I feel a party coming on!

Carole, ditto to what Deb said! Well, except for the going away to Golden thing I am not going to Golden this weekend but out east to the centre of Canada.

I saw your dotty curtains posted and they *are* adorable. And awesome news for the heir too.And congrats on the Rising Star award- you totally deserve it!

Hey Carole and all. Just sitting back waiting for laundry so I can call it a night.

Went to the Scrapbook Store in Rocky Mountain House yesterday. Definately worth the time.

Cheers

Thanks for the congrats everyone - just wish that I was going to Convention in November to pick up my award. I'm the only person to have achieved Rising Star in the UK AND Europe, so it would have been wonderful to get it in person - oh well ... will have to think of something to achieve next year !!!! ha ha ha !

I hope You had a great time at the Kicking Horse Resort Debs, and that the wedding went well - it sounds a remarkable place !!!

Robin - did you get the washing finished ??!!!!

Ruth - the scarf sounds fantastic - did you take a photo ? I adore scarves - and wear one every day - well except in summer !

Not a lot to report at the moment - We've been back at school for nearly 2 weeks, and I'm ready for a holiday already !! ha ha ha !

Thinking of you all xxxxxxx

Thanks Diane !

Wow - i'm having an amazing day, which all started off with speaking to Deb over Skype last night ! how amazing is technology !

I have been absolutely thoroughly ruined this weekend. As its my 50th, I just couldn't decide what to do, so I decided in the end, that I would do what I wanted ... so I had a birthday crop It was absolutely brilliant, and lots of my crafting friends from all over the country came and shared the day with me ! Photographs are on facebook

Mum took us all out for dinner yesterday, and again, that was really lovely.

Today has been spent shopping, and packing orders for my stampers groups ..... it had to be done, although the Post Mistress wasn't happy when she saw all the boxes !! ha ha ha !

So, we're rounding off the day having good ole fish, chips and mushy peas from the best chippy in town ... nom nom ....

Thinking of you all, and missing you all like crazy - be good to yourselves xxxxxxxx

No shaking or quaking here, Carole! It was much nearer to Nancy than me but even then way north of her. It's on the Queen Charlotte fault line which is not the nearest one to Vancouver. So glad it was a unpopulated area and there was little damage and no one was hurt.

Take care, everyone!

Hello? Hello?
Everyone has gone awfully quiet.

Hope that all is well, wherever you are. It's American Thanksgiving this week and Black Friday, well, this Friday. I wonder if any of the stores here will do a sale event for us Canadians.

Deb, saw your post that you were not well- hope you are recovering.

Saw your lovely Rising Star pendant from Stampin' Up!, Cal- it looks amazing.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with the lil' cowpoke herself, Gayle. I think I may have convinced her to come over to the Clean and Simple camp... for just a bit. I was playing with my deer trio die and branch die from Memory Box Co and we were making some lovely cards.

Christine did her Christmas Stamp-A-Stack and it, in turn inspired us to attempt some of her lovely cards. I will be ready with my handmade christmas cards early this year, thanks to diligent planning and early inspiration from my friends around me.

Even though it is American Thanksgiving, I just wanted to say I am thankful for all the wonderful people I have met through this pastime of mine - certainly the most generous, kind and supportive friends I would want in my corner of the world.

Stopping by to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and lovely New Year ahead

I've not been on my computer very much or doing very much crafting! However, with getting cards ready to go this past while, I am almost feeling the 'urge' to get doing something

Yes, I felt that earthquake a little bit ago. I was talking with a friend and she thought I was outside because my inside wind chimes really started chiming! It was kind of erie because I didn't feel any tremor, but things were moving glad it didn't do any real damage anywhere!

Anyway Ladies, have a great Christmas and I 'will' try to get back on here now and then. I do think of you all

Hello, Ladies! good to see some of you have popped in here for Christmas!

Have a wonderful time each and everyone of you and a Happy and Prosperous 2013!

just having a quiet time as both Rex and I have had really virulent head colds, had no voice for days but that's been a bit of a relief for DH!!!! Didn't even get to finish my Christmas cards and I had everything so organised for it!

Nancy, happy to hear there was no damage from the earthquake. Another one today off the coast of Vancouver Island!
Carole, hope you're feeling better, know you've been really sick this last little while. Hopefully you get to enjoy Christmas day!
Hi Loretta, nice to 'see' you.
Hello, Miss Diane, thanks for the cute Christmas card, love it. Sorry I didn't manage to get to the PO with one for you. The few I managed to get done were off Pinterest too. Must try to go with a few more ideas from there in the new year!

Well Rex has already gone to bed and hopefully we don't get a night of constant snoring like last night!! I was so tired this morning! He always snores more after a few glasses of wine.

Take care, everyone and hug the ones you love as Denise would say!

My friend Dena is hosting a 100 inchie swap on SCS. Long date. Not due till April 1.
I am trawling for more swappers. Yes, I am back at it. C'mon. Inchies. They are only one inch. How difficult can it be? Ruth, Nancy? wanna come and play? Loretta of the gumball machine shaker inchie fame?

Of course you can! And you don't even have to make it complicated Maximum of five identical inchies so that's only 20 new designs.........

Good Morning Ladies I actually got out to a scrap night last night with a few friends. I took my Scotland album which has been sitting quietly waiting for me. And, I signed up for a scrap weekend the middle of March! I'm in my scrap room today tidying up some stuff and taking my Christmas tubs out to the shed! Finally! Quite enjoying it

Ruth, that sounds like a lot of paper cutting to me, wow! How are your inchies coming Diane

Hope everyone is getting on fine, Spring is slowly coming around!
