Gayle, now I am envious! Kramers Pond looks great.

Nancy I hope you can get there and enjoy a weekend with the AB girls. They really are Aa wonderful group to be with and it's so nice when it's not a huge gathering. Of course Gayle will have everything but the kitchen sink with her so there's loads of opportunities to try new stuff as well as be inspired by all the creativity.

Deb, welcome home. Great to hear you had a good time in the warmth of Arizona. Bet you'll be so happy to see the little ones and I'm sure they'll be even happier to see you!

Not a lot going on around here except for a little card making. Have been asked to do some birthday cards for our Hospice Society volunteers. Apparently they appreciate the handmade cards and there have been loads of positive comments. Need to do some cards for family birthdays too as there are quite a few in April/May and I never seem to get any done for them!

Have to say, the rain woke me early this morning and I know the forecast for the next week or more is not too great, plenty of moisture around I believe! At least it's pretty mild so not too bad. Need more coffee so it's au revoir for now!

Have a great day, ladies.

Kramer's Pond looks great Gayle. I'm just double checking my schedule, but I should be able to go (especially now that the price has dropped from 427 to $27). I just might have to quilt as well. I bought two kits to make quilts for my grandsons that would probably love a weekend to work on them. They are minky fabric, but if I cut out at home, they won't be as messy to work with.

Congrats on the OAP Nancy. And thanks for all the nice words on our southern home. We love it down there. I find it so peaceful and relaxing. I'm very calm and quiet down there.

Robin - can we meet for the card exchange. I still have not received Carole's. They are obviously lost in the mail somewhere. She mailed them before Christmas. Then I'll get the rest mailed out to everybody.

Good Morning Ladies!

Oh Ruth, would be so nice if you were here to join us early June! What side of the pond will you be on then?

Deb, glad to hear you are back safe and sound from your oasis of paradise! It sounds lovely down there. Oh what I wouldnt do for some heat and a palm tree right about now!

So glad to hear you will most likely make it to Kramer's Pond Deb, that's wonderful! More details to follow soon after I know we will have 10 people. Regarding the rate...you didnt want to pay $427 a night??? Yes, a slip of the digit there...sorry, to all I shocked!

Ladies, do you think I should put this on Splitcoast, the main site like Robin did for Operation Olds so we can all chat and plan? I dont know how to do that so any enablers out there???

Grey day here in Calgary enjoying the lighter evenings, making us want to get out more during the week.

So it's official, I am now the newest employee of Alberta Health Services!!! Yes I landed a plum job with the government. I will be working in a new provincial program that will focus on 6 new health programs, focused on the areas where people have to wait so long for surgeries and such as hip and knee. There are no established systems in place so I get to go in and organize from an administrative point of view, right up my alley!!

Well back to work!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Good for you Gayle on your new job! The hip and knee surgeries most definitely need a little work to get them on a more timely schedule. My MRI went to the surgeon on October 26, 2010 and I have not yet even had my consultation! I flew to Vancouver, had private surgery done in February 2011. Just want to see how long it actually takes for an appointment. It has ONLY been 17 months so far.

Now with the arthritis that has set in (?? could it possibly be due somewhat to the lengthy wait??) I have just been informed that I need a knee replacement. And that specialist told me that he wants me to wait 2 years because of my age. I'm more likely to believe that that will be how long it might take to get in anyway! If the orthodic does not work, I'm going to request surgery much sooner. We'll see! I'm tired of not even being able to get down on my knees anymore!

Congrats on the new job, Gayle. All that organising, definitely a 'Gayle' kind of job, I'd say! I'd be really excited if I had something like that to administer! Good luck with everything.

Just got back from a Gala (hospice) committee meeting. We sure are going to have a ball! So much enthusiasm from our little group and now that Rotary no longer have their annual fundraising dinner/event, ours is the place to be seen and the only full scale event in town now!! We have some amazing live and silent auction items. Our area certainly is generous with their support.

Need to get to bed, was up way too early this morning, darn rain woke me. I went back to bed after a little while and then the phone rang and woke me up again! UGH! It appears it was a wrong # as no-one even left a message! I don't even know anyone in Oregon!!

Good morning ladies. It promises to be a very springy day.

Last day of the fiscal year, so let the games begin. I have already had 3 sets of tears this week from staff, so it still promises to be a doozy of a year end.

Congrats on the job Gayle! You will be great.

Congrats on the OAS cheque Nanci. Got in under the wire did you

Deb. I will give you a call so we can make a date.

So sorry you can't join us in June Ruth. I am so hoping that we get to go.

Enjoy your day.

Congrats, on your OAS cheque, Nancy!
And congrats on the permanent position, Gayle. The fat lady finally sung, hey?
I was busy all week and up in Edmonton for work. Have the day off to use up a holiday before fiscal year end. I feel for you, Robin.

Another dull and dreary day here but hey ho, I'm out to lunch with my cousin! Being retired has advantages as well!

Just spoke with DH and the temperatures in St Catharines have changed dramatically. Just about zero and snow/freezing rain is forecast for tonight just as all the daffodils had blossomed in all that heat over the past few weeks! I'll take damp and drizzly anytime!!!

Congrats, Nancy on joining the ranks of the officially retired!

Better go and try to do something useful before I venture out! Have a great day, ladies. at least it's the weekend, Robin so you'll get a little respite from end of year stuff.

Aww.. Nancy. I must make an effort to come out to Quesnel sometime soon.

I echo Nancy's sentiment. Deb, the grandkids are cuties. I remember meeting them in person too, when I stopped by to see Deb...

Looks like its going to be a sunny Saturday... yaay!

Thanks Nancy and Diane. I think they are pretty special -- but I also know that I just a little bit biased.

Deb, those g/kids of yours are just too cute and hey, we're allowed bias when it comes to our own!

My young DGS got a great school report so he's been allowed an extra special treat this weekend! His math and reading skills are above average and his writing is now getting better! However the sweet thing is his teacher's comment was that "he's a little treasure with a heart of gold"!! Apparently he's very good with the younger kids who have a hard time adapting to school. I also think he's carrying on the family 'tradition' of adopting all the 'waifs and strays'. Our house always ended up with the kids other people weren't allowed to take home for play dates! Mind you he can be a little 'b***** too but as long as he knows how to behave at school and not get into too much mischief, that's ok. Proud biased grandma or what!!!!

Glad you're getting some sunshine in AB, it's really wet and miserable here!!

I'm not making Easter cards and I forgot to get some chocolate when I was out. lol I am however using up lots of scraps to make birthday cards for Hospice so on two counts I'm feeling self righteous! Using scraps and donating cards. I'll get chocolate tomorrow!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, ladies.

no Easter cards here either. But I am sewing curtains for Dana's new hair salon. I have 7 finished. I just have to figure out how I'm going to attach the beads. I am doing an hourglass design. The center will be held in place by some absolutely gorgeous beads that I bought in Scottsdale.

Looks like I have an extra 11 people for dinner tonight, unexpectedly. Good thing I have burgers in the freezer. It will be a VERY basic meal!

Good snowy morning, everyone! April 1st and we have a couple of inches of snow!!! Thank goodness it's stopped now and hopefully will disappear before days end. Quite a surprise when I got up this morning as it had been raining most of the night.

I think I will need to go out later just to get chocolate so I don't feel too 'depressed' because of the snow. Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Getting up to date with my SU stuff. It was my turn to be hostess at our monthly stampers club this week and I've managed to get all the stamp pad colours (new colour families) that I don't have so that saved me almost $100! And it was still Sale-a-Bration and I've got some designer paper + a stamp set. Now to sell some of my huge collection which I haven't used in ages!!

Enjoy Sunday, ladies.

4 "Spring" cards, and 2 birthday cards completed yesterday. It was so nice to work in my room with the sun streaming in and the sounds of lawnmowers thatching away! Gosh maybe winter is really over?!?
Our eldest son Thomas is in Vancouver for a year living with his Oma studying. So we are putting together an Easter box for him with all sorts of goodies to send on the bus. Yes, there is an Easter basket in there even tho he is 23! complete with chocolate bunny and eggs! (Dad stuck in an ITunes card and some manly stuff!)
We use to love creating the Easter egg hunts for the boys till they got too old. One year when we hid them inside everywhere, the dog in the middle of the night snuck around and ate most of the eggs, tin foil and all! We didn't do that again and yes the dog was fine, a tad poopy but fine!

Getting some spring cleaning done to today, we did the whole, pullout the fridge and stove and marveled at the "treats" under there!!! Oh my gosh! It was the petrified shrimp and grapes that made us laugh!

So happy Sunday!

Gayle, sounds like you had a good day!

I've been messing around with cardstock too over the past couple of days and have several birthday cards done. Just need to get into gear with these thank you cards for our Gala donors!

Thankfully all the snow had gone by the end of Sunday afternoon. It's been a partly lovely day but is dull and cloudy again now. More precipitation in the forecast but I'm ok with that as long as it's liquid and not white!!

DGs lost his first tooth today but swallowed it!!! Has written a note for the tooth fairy to explain so that he does get some money under his pillow. So sweet! Better talk to them tomorrow, they are on Easter holidays for 2 weeks. DD is 'looking forward' to being even more exhausted 'cos our little fella needs lots of activity to keep him out of mischief when it's not term time.

Just realised I forgot the chocolate again. However that won't do me any harm. My cousin did give me a box of girl guide cookies but they are far too sweet for my taste. Will have to pass them on to the girls in the Hospice office, I know they'll get used there with the childrens groups.

Have a good week, girls.

HI Ruth ~

Yum Girl Guide cookies! I see they went back to the old tried and true recipe ~ they tried new minty ones and I don't think they went over so well...why mess with a good thing?? I know the new/old ones went over well at our house as three boxes came in and three boxes disappeared rather quickly last week!

Yes snow April 1st in your neck of the woods just wasn't fair!

So good to hear about little ones and loosing their teeth! It's such an exciting time. Our little neighbor boy Josh came over last night to show Mike and I that he had lost his first tooth! So Mike was showing him how to stick his tongue through the hole!

Years ago, we forgot to put the money under the pillow one night and we felt so bad, we made up a fairy story and our DS bought it (or so we hoped) from then on we use to put a BIG piece of green masking tape on one of the kitchen cupboards whenever they lost a tooth and that was our signal to remember to hide the coins! Too much fun!!

How long are you on that side of the Rockies Ruth?

I hear the new formulation of the Girl Guide Cookies are trans fat free and don't taste nearly as good but have not tried them out yet.

Lot's of anxiety within the federal public service as the govt cut nearly 20,000 jobs. First round notices went out yesterday and letters to arrive Wednesday (tomorrow). Gulp.

Omgoodness, Diane. Keeping fingers and toes crossed that you don't get one of those letters! Sending positivity your way.

BTW looking at the packaging, like most cookies these GG ones are not a healthy option even if the trans fat is 0%!!! Made by Dare and I'm not keen on any of their cookies. I think I'll stick to the occasional bar of chocolate!!

Gayle, so funny! Can just imagine Mike teaching that youngster how to stick his tongue thru the hole!! Lots of drama and tears for our little guy overnight, he found his money then dropped it at 4.30 a.m. so his Mummy is a little tired/grumpy today!!!! My SIL adivsed a little pouch to put the next tooth in and that's where the money will be so they don't get a repeat the next time! Kids, you gotta love them.

Here until the third week in May, have tentatively booked my flight for 21st, just need to double check with DH before confirming it. Had intended to leave a few days later but found $300 difference in costs because of the Queens Jubilee which will pay all my other travel expenses whilst in the UK! Same thing probably will happen with the Olympics and the other wedding date in early August! Better check that out soon.

Better go, things to do and I need some breakfast. Have a great day.

Hi Ladies ~

Excuse me for hopping the que here but I am trying to get a message out to all the ladies going to Kramer's Pond, early June, so if you dont mind me poking in here thank you!

I have to apologize up front, the rate is not $274.00 per night it is $347.00. We were quoted for a different cabin. So the price has gone up a tad. Please let me know if this is going to cause a problem for anyone.

Also it would appear that Kramer's Pond wants payment up front before we go. Not unusual, but I will need payment now as I have to send off a
cheque for $730.30 and a damage deposit for $150 when we get there.

So if we base our plans on 10 people coming that works out to $73.30 each for lodging for two nights. I would ask that if we dont get two more people that we all share that additional cost. That would make it $91.28 each. But let's work on the positive that we will get 10 ladies. So if you have a friend that would enjoy the weekend, please ask them to join us!

So, if you could either send off a cheque for $73.30 each or pay me through internet banking that would be great.

My address is
38 Citadel Crest Green NW
Calgary, AB
T3G 4W5

Thanks!
Gayle

P.S. Deb, Cindy and Lisa can you three email me with your emails as I have lost them when I got my new computer last fall! Thanks so much!

Good morning, gals!

Much brighter morning here if a little chilly. Quiet day planned but busy evening so I'd better make the most of it.

Had the whole tooth story from DGS yesterday, he's so funny! You'd never know there had been a 'drama' at 4.30 a.m.! Where do they get their energy from?!!

Talking to DH yesterday, am a little disappointed he's not going to make it home for this Easter weekend. I hope he's back soon, getting tired of my own company but hey, life still goes on.

Better go start the day with a healthy breakfast. Take care, ladies.

Happy Birthday Diane I'm hoping you are having a great day today, even if you have to work! I'm sure they wouldn't give you notice...they should be lucky to have you

Ruth that 'little' snow storm came through here!! I got 5 inches in about two hours yesterday afternoon! They only got about 2 inches downtown....but I live up on the hill what a difference!

I had just put my winter coats and boots away on the weekend and put the snow shovels away in the shed

Anyway, I'm sure it will melt soon....not much fun hunting for Easter eggs in the snow

Happy Birthday Diane. Hope you have a wonderful day today and the best present ever would be to not receive a letter. Sending positive vibes your way.

Gayle - do you want a cheque for $73 or $91.

Happy Birthday Diane! Hope your day is a good one filled with lots of good news! Good wishes - good vibes!!!!

Hi Deb $73 is the amount as we just know there will be 2 more very happy ladies to join us!

I heard from Adelee, she is currently in Italy touring some students on a chef type tour and will let us know if she can come when she gets back.

Well, Nancy, hope the snow has gone! It's cloudy and showery one minute then bright and sunny the next! However it is a little chilly out there, a slightly 'icy' breeze. Forecast for the long weekend doesn't look brilliant either.

I think between doing laundry and trying to sort out some of the tons of clothes we have and never wear, I may just have a weekend of creatvity all by myself. Done the shopping I needed to do today so am prepared for getting a few more things together for the Gala Silent Auction. Just remembered, I'm having lunch with a good friend tomorrow!

Have a great Easter, girls. Stay safe and warm and enjoy your families.

Good morning! I am sure looking forward to a long weekend with Rick home and family time. I'm off to Edmonton this morning for brunch and shopping with dd, then finishing the set-up of the craft room with Rick tomorrow. Sunday is dinner with my mom.

Next weekend is a sleepover with my highschool girlfriends.

And I get to look forward to lunch with our Deb next week.

Good times.

Hugs to all......

Sounds like you are all having a great Easter weekend too. We are having all the kids home for dinner on Sunday -- so I'm cooking for 16. We are going to deep-fry our turkey again this year. It was definitely a hit at Thanksgiving and the kids all requested we do it again.

Brian actually took all day off today. We had a great day. Went out for lunch, then went over to Dana's salon and puttered. It is so nice to spend an entire day with him -- doesn't happen near often enough.

I'm decluttering my house (again). I managed to do the pantry today. That is one of my least favorite places to go! I have stuff I forgot I have. I actually threw away lots. I'm following a plan -- 40 bags in 40 days. Well surprise to that -- I'm going to be 60 bags in 40 days!

Good morning from a bright but very frosty Mission!

Had a very nice lunch with a good friend yesterday. It was great to catch up and chat! Managed to get together the scrapbooking treasure chests(our Gala has a Pirate theme this year) as two of my items for the Silent Auction at our Hospice Society gala. That's one good thing about having lots of unused crafting stuff!! Surprising what I found. lol

My crafting area is full of bits of cards which I need to tidy before I can get to make more cards. Need some space to use my Cuttlebug before I can piece my cards together.

Dinner for 16, Deb, you always have such huge family gatherings! When I was in the UK I used to love having my family over at holiday time but now all the nieces and nephews have so many kids between them, it would soon add up to way more than the 13 or 14 we used to host! Enjoy your family time, it's special.

Hope the snow has gone and the weather is back to being Spring in AB. It certainly is looking good here so far today.

TTYL

Happy Easter Ladies
My kids are all here and we're having a great time! Had our big dinner today because some are leaving tomorrow after the egg hunt. We coloured eggs today and hid the chocolate ones and some gifty things around tonight

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend

Happy Easter, ladies.

No chocolate bunnies here! It's a beautiful start to the day so let's hope the weather stays fine for the whole long weekend. Is tomorrow a holiday too? I still get confused 'cos I know it is in the UK. Take care.

Happy Monday Ladies!

Sooo who is suffering from chocolate and foodies overload?? Me!

We had a gorgeous Sunday, went to Gitta's where she started the early afternoon off with 3, read 'em 3 beautiful home baked cakes and coffee, then a walk with the dogs, then back for appetizers, then on to dinner, zowee it was marvelous, then desert!! Needless to say DH slept on the way home as I drove and tried to keep my eyes open. I am still full.

Spring is trying hard to peek through and it's sunny today, but still funny to see the odd snowflake flutter on by!

Have a great day ladies!
