Morning ladies - It is too blasted HOT!

I wish I had a swimming pool - and no, not one of those tiny plastic things either LOL

Woke up with yet another head ache, but at least it isn't as bad as yesterday's!

August 1st, school starts on the 22nd here - senior year. Did some school clothes shopping saturday - glad that is done!

Sorry about your headache Karen. I hope it goes away real soon.

School here 3 more weeks. Glad I don't have to do school shopping anymore. Shopping with my DD's was always a nightmare!

LOL, no doubt. Now if it was tomorrow I wouldn't have thought too much about it, just thought of it as an anniversary gift. LOL But since he usually doesn't hardly acknowledge it, who knows LOL. None the less, dishes are washed

seems early by a week or so. But that could be due to the fact that ever since our current superintendant took over, she took out the 3 given snow days we always had allotted into our calendar. So now when we have to take snow days, we have to tack it on to the end of the year. Come on! We live in the boondocks, where most of our school is on a bus route. It snows a lot here in the winter. We will be taking a couple snow days at least!

Yes, we register each year.

Just about time to head off for home tonight after making a couple of stops along the way.

Got a notification today about an Intermediate Copic class in Orlando at the end of September. Trying to decide if I want to spend that much $$ and go. I'd need a hotel and airfare besides paying for the class, but no telling when there will be one any closer to where I live. Wish I knew what the schedule was going to be for next year.

I talked to our local mini mart today. We start 6-weeks Biggest Loser on Friday. It will run through the final week of September. $10 to join and winner takes the pot. I'm signing up and am really motivated.

I have a dentist appointment on Thursday. He'll do x-rays and hopefully pull 2 teeth. 1 for sure. So the first couple days of BL should be interesting, diet related.

Good luck with the BL Kelly. I hope you can do it.

We were supposed to start our next round in a couple weeks after my GF's DS had his heart surgery and they were back home, but now his surgery has been postponed until the end of August, so it doesn't look like we'll do it until September, which would be okay because we would run through to the holidays. How many are in your group?

Hey Suzy - are you still here somewhere? Just wanted to let you know that I got your card on Saturday with the check. Thank you. Your card is absolutely gorgeous. I ant to know how you did that emobossing that long edge? I can see if you did the short end. Did you mask the large flower to put the edging around it? What set is that? Is it SU?

I was on the phone tonight with 3 of the ladies that I used to be in Book Club with. One of the small theaters here in town is performing Emma until the end of the month. This group was always a big Jane Eyre fan and we read one of her books every year. We're all getting together on the 13th to go see it and we'll go out for dinner before the show. I'm excited to get together with them again. While we're together we are going to discuss getting together to go see The Help. This weekend I may be going with one of them to see Othello. Our Outdoor Theater has a Shakespeare Festival every year and we're going to go. Lots of fun stuff coming up.

That sounds like a great way to spend the evening, Maggie. I told Bob the other night one of the things I'd enjoy most about living in NY would be to see plays. I love stage performances.

I don't know how many are in our group yet, Maggie. We don't weigh-in until Friday. I did a separate write-up about it in the paper this week plus mentioned it in my column. I'll be doing weekly updates on the group in the column every week. I wish it would cool off so maybe I could get together with a couple others and walk. But at least with the living room redone, I have space for my Total Gym and can work out to the videos.

August is going to be relatively busy here too. But oh soooo hot. I have a writers meeting in Springfield a week from Sat. The following weekend we have a 4-day BlueGrass Festival about 15 miles from me. I'm buying a 4-day pass so I can come and go all weekend. The kids are playing 2 different days and I want to work on some freelance articles. I know of at least 2 spots the kids are playing elsewhere throughout the month, too. The last weekend is our Anniversary. Bob comes home the day before and then the day after my blind musician friend and his wife are playing in West Plains so we're planning on going to that.

It just seems once the 2nd weekend in August hits I'm gone every weekend through the end of Oct.

Oh yuck, Karen! Have a good day at work.

I went out at 7 to take care of the dogs before it got too hot. It was only 73. But that will change drastically. Are you in the city? I know the buildings holding heat will keep the temps high over night.

I see where temps (NOT heat index) are to be around 115 in OK, KS and western side of MO. Ewwww!!!!

We have piano today, but that's it. This time, though, it's an hour because Jaydin has it for 30 minutes, and Jonah has it for 30 minutes.

Hoping I have some mojo today. I just couldn't find mojo or energy after we came in from the pool yesterday.

I"d love to be in NY and be able to go see Broadway and Off Broadway shows. I'm hoping that a couple of them come here to Houston.

Glad you have inside equipment. It's way too hot to walk outside. The mornings are a bit cooler than the evenings though. By the time I get home from work, the humidity and the temps are elevated and you sweat just sitting outside.

UGH!
That's HOT! Sorry that there is no relief in sight for the high temps. Now Emily is staying on the Atlantic side of Florida so no change we'll get anything from that one.

Busy yes, but a lot of fun stuff going on there. Enjoy all your planned activities.

I'm so glad that my DGD has started her piano lessons again. I sure hope this time she sticks to it and learns to play. She only has a few years left of schooling, so once she's in college, I don't think she'd continue with the lessons.

I didn't have any last night either. I wanted to work on something, but ended up watching TV which I seldom do without doing something else. Tonight I need to go up to the library and take down July. I don't have August ready yet though. I need some inspiration about a theme. Any ideas?

My new computer comes today, so I don't know that I will get anything done upstairs today, either. I may force myself to get a card or two made before I can open the laptop.

August ... cooling off?? Dog days of summer? Take Jesus back to school with you? Something with music?

yes...I'm here! Just running around rather crazy busy!!!!

Saturday I went to a bridal show with GF. We were looking at all kinds of stuff....might have a niece getting engaged soon. Will be ready for that.

Then Sunday, we went south (about 2 hr drive) to see widow of one of the rocket guys. He is the one that died last Sept...the one that wrote the article about me. Anyway, she had some motors for us to take. Well, actually we left with 4 large rubbermaid containers. Had a nice visit...I had made an apple pie on Saturday night to take down. I used Granny Smith apples...it turned out yummy!

Glad you got the card.....and really liked it!!! I'll put details for you...next post....

Vintage Plum by SuzyS1104 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

The set is Vintage Vogue...SU...and is in catalog currently

These are the steps I did.....

Versamark the flower....put white embossing powder on it....used tool.

I used a sponge to use the plum for around the white flower...and in the words and center. Then I masked the flower to get the mellow moss vine on the bottom. Came back and used the plum for the smaller flower....put those around the white flower.

I embossed on with my cuttlebug...using the dot folder from SU because it is the full size...not like the cuttlebug one. That only does part of the card. I did the embossing last....put the card in long ways in the embossing dot folder. Then turned card so that it is long ways....part of the card is in the folder...and part of the folder is empty. Loaded cuttlebug from the top....and only the part I wanted to emboss....so, I didn't put the whole card through the cuttlebug. So, it only did the embossing on that 3/4 part. I came back and did the diamond stickles on the centers of the flower.

In my posting for my gallery....and the above link...I made reference to a card that I CASd....so, go to her card. Then go to her blog for more details. It sure was an easy card to do.

I would do several at one time...already have the embossing done with the versamark and white embossing powder. That tends to get messy and a bother for just one card. So, I did a few...would like to use some other colors.

Hope I explained that well enough...if not...let me know. But, do check out her blog. I've gotten some really good ideas from it!
