Did you have a look at her alcohol ink tutorials? That is how I found her - I got the Spectrum Noir markers and was wandering around Pinterest - as you do. I can only dream of doing the stuff she does but one look at the colour and style of her work and I thought of your and your mixed media straight away. Just forgot to post it for you to look at until this morning.
There is no such thing as lack of sleep, only caffeine deficiency.
Yes thats were I went. It was hard to pick out a fav but I put one on my pin board with a very direct hint, lol.
No I haven't seen the tuts. I must go and have a good look at her stuff. Today the mere thought of Alcohol in any way shape or form is giving me a headache. I had two tiny sips of red wine last followed by a giant glass of water and I'm still got a lingering headache this afternoon.
Theresa ,they are gorgeous you should be able to get some great drawings from the images.
We are in bundaberg ,i dont know if i made a stuff up ot not for Rockhampton as we are on a different road . The motel is older style but clean & comfortable with free wifi so i am not complaining i am drinking a cuppa. Cheers
Well now that's smart. Not like me who likes to break down in some remote place half way across SA, which Jan will attest to, can be a long long way from most places, lol. And dark. And scary with trucKs hurtling past because the road is so built up you can't actually pull off the shoulder. And freezing! Geez that was a long night before help arrived *shock*
Anges Waters sounds peaceful. Ahhhh! Enjoy your Rocky time.
Agnes waters & 1770 are just beautiful when i get home ill attach some photos. If we had the drama at 1770 it would have been awful as it was just a carpark no public phones my mobile was low on battery & my husband's mobile was in the car,so we had to use Telstra public phone first time i think we have used a public phone in years. Your breakdown sounds awful. Cheers
Well what a time the nieces had with their craft stuff yesterday ,they inked everything insight including themselves. I just about freaked when they inked their faces but their mum was ok with it,i just hope they got it all off in their showers last night. The main thing was the fun they had & very creative ,apparently 1 of the girls was taking craft classes but had to stop as the lady no longer does classes. I am off to Spotlight today we need more bling& stamp blocks so all 4 can stamp . It is very hot & dry up here. I managed to colour some of the cupcakes for my HYCCT cards. Cheers
It's fun watching the kids have fun with craft supplies.
I'm in Brisbane for a couple of days. Last night I had a play date with my 'Stamping Mum' last night as we burnt the midnight oil crafting with my new dies. Today I spent the day hanging around with my DD as we awaiting the arrival of DS from Townsville.
Theresa, great your new dies arrived & you got some playing time.
Kat wonderful work & yeah go for it girl good luck in the challenge
We head home tomorrow, have had a most marvelous time visiting my brother& his family.
My little crafty mates got the ink off their faces . Now i know what they like to do i can send them more things to play with including christmas & butterfly punches. I better get to sleep. Cheers
We are packing up our van once again to head off to Wentworth tomorrow for the annual Mildura Country Music Festival. I hope we have some nice weather over there, Adelaide has been weird weather wise lately. Nice and sunny one minute and overcast and showering the next. I am trying to decide what to take in the way of craft stuff. Probably my Copics and Prismas and some stamped images as they are the easiest to carry.
Kat - that colouring looks awesome. You have a real knack of using those alcohol markers. Love the blue faded out sky background.
Jan - good luck with your travels and weather.
Jen - safe return travels for you.
I had a beautiful time in Brissy hanging out with the kids. DD was filling me in on her new job. I keep telling her she needs to be smarter than her mother and get a decent job with prospects, and she is heading in the right direction. DS regaled us with stories of his recent experience with the joint military (Aust and US) exercise at Shoal Water Bay and other army life adventures.
Work has been quiet for me so I've filled my plate (time) up with a ton of other diversional activities to keep the black dog at bay. I have resumed the giant cleanup job on this house. I have opened up one of the rooms, which is one of only two bedrooms with powerpoints, and started to clear it out and I'm ready to start washing down walls again. 12 months ago I got thru about 4 rooms, the neccesary ones, near exhausted myself in the process. When I have this new room complete I'll move my craftroom into it and convert my current room into our wardrobe.
Oi! just got a call from work to do night duty. Lucky me! :S
I am home we got home about 2 pm ,unloaded the car, picked up a thank you gift from Liquorland, then out to get our dog,who hasnt been more than 2 ft away from me since we got home.
I managed to get some colouring in done while away.
Jan safe travels hope you dont have as many roadworks as what we had,i thought my husband would chuck a wobbly if he saw another roadworks ahead sign, the Bruce Highway is being worked from Gympie to Rockhampton in about 20 places. Rockhampton is just 1 big roadworks on the sothside were we were. You can still see signs of flood damage around the rivers where trees & grasses have been flattened.from the water.
Theresa, wonderful way to spend time with family.good luck with giant cleanup & new craft space. Glad you got some night shifts .
Kat ,did you enter the challenge?
Today husband will be ringing up car dealer & booking in for a electronics check there is definitely something amiss now the alarm goes off while parked. Cheers
No Jeeny, not yet. I have a huge week planned this week. (Un)fortunately, the interschool carnival today was cancelled, so I have an extra 8 hours up my sleeve.
Yesterday was invoicing, today will be arranging quotes, getting supplies and organising a practice court for DD's basketball. Tomorrow is cooking, washing, packing our caravan and maybe finishing the card...
I am planning a little 'steampunk embellishment research" today though while I have my morning coffee. I've never done steampunk before but that Santa was so funny and so different, I had to have a go at him.
Kat,i dont know much about Steampunk.the link only showed frames& no you dont want to completely copy but you can case & change things .
I still have to unpack the big case & wash everything we used as i didnt wash while away ,a bit crook today probably all the air con i have been in lately.at least my ankles are better.
I just followed up on the Peacock prints i missed that post while i was away that lady does amazing work. Cheers
Hi ladies, just calling in to say hello. Looks like this night duty has turned into a godsend with this heat we're having. I've been enjoying working in the cool evening/morning air on top of the range.
The link for the santa card works for me. He's a pretty cool dude!
Kat i got the link to work, does all Steampunk invole gears & machines?
Theresa, yes i can imagine cooler nights are better than stinky days .I got a sore throat so have been eating salt& vinegar chips i find them great for sore throats. Cheers
Steam Punk is apparently a science fantasy genre that rests on the premise that steam power and mechanics are used in place of electricity and electronics. Generally it is associated with Victorian or Edwardian eras and sometimes the wild west (think Back to The Future III) probably because of industrialisation occurring at that time, but also with the future. So the cogs and gears feature as do things like mechanical computers.
I think in craft it probably became popular as a progression from shabby chic, grunge and vintage. It is great as a less feminine style. And you can easily incorporate found objects like washers and springs and jewellery findings.
There is no such thing as lack of sleep, only caffeine deficiency.
Kat,i think you are right about prgression from shabby chic to steampunk. I was thinking about this earlier could you use clocks instead of gears on your santa card ,there seem to be clock faces& findings everywhere these days. Thanks for the Steampunk info. Cheers
Kat,that sounds about right, look forward to seeing it re metallic snowflakes if you cut the tips off would that look like a cog & if they were made out of cans like i have seen i think at Sizzix. Cheers
Hi ladies,i either have Bronchitis or pneumonia ,i ll know more after i see the Dr later today.i managed some colouring last week of cupcakes & thanksgiving corucopias for my american cyber friends. Cheers
Great description of Steampunk Kat. Wild Wild West with Will Smith is also fun cool movie with a big Steampunk style. Love all the fun gadgetry and industrialised fantasy in that flick. I was very naughty this morning a bought my first set of 'cogs' - it's an On The Edge die from Sizzix.
Jenny - hope you aren't feeling too bad for long. We need you well for the full month ahead. I still haven't signed up for CC102 yet. I've got a couple more days up my sleeve.
I have Laryngitis so glad not pneumonia or bronchitis. Should be better in a few days unless i have reaction to meds
Theresa, stay safe tonight. We have a massive roadworks going on at the moment where we acess highway . Enjoy your new dies. I am off to Photo Continental (i got birthday voucher )on wednesday while car is being looked at ,i have 3 hours to look around ,i am hoping to get some clearance punches for my nieces . I was also wanting to get the Sizzix TH tag & bookplates movers & shapers die but it is out of stock according to website. Plus just see what else is around. I am still deciding on going to Brisbane Craft Show in Oct.
No work tonight. I'm working on one of our districts biggest road works projects, the Towwoomba Range Upgrade. The site looks precarious with all the opened soil on the steep slopes and we're heading into storm season. This has the potential to turn into a monumental disaster and everyone is aware of it. I worked there one day when they had rain overnight and big haulage trucks were slipping and sliding as they attempted to make their way up to my point. One day an excavator lost it's footing and was hanging upside down on the side of the range, narrowly missing falling onto live traffic. Lately I've been on the top of the range dealing with the public.
Theresa, did you get a voucher from PhotoContinental also today wowee my birthday voucher will go even further now all i have to is decide what to get probably Copics as i am needing a few darker colours in each colour range.Plus pink stuff for HYCCT month.
Theresa i dont like the sound of where you are working,i hope you dont work the site on stormy days stay safe. The site where we pass everyday is near Bruce Highway like you we are seeing great open spaces the trees are all gone even from front of properties which makes me wonder if they are going to widen Pumicestone Rd ,i cant work out how it is all going to look all i know it is changed forever now.
Woolworths is building a new shopping centre & have demolished Big Fish Petrol station & the motel that was alongside it.
Kat i can relate to ripping stuff of cards & starting again,i never saw WildWild West. Did you get some of the awful weather Victoria has had.
I dont know if the cure is worse than the infection meds are making me queasy all the time. I have made a thank you card & envelope & glammed up a kraft gift bag for my brothers family in Rockhampton. Real pleased with both projects. Cheers
Oh, sorry for rabbiting on about work. I must be going gaga. LOL.
I didn't get a voucher from Photo Continental. I'm not subscribed to anything from there either which would explain why this is so. Unfortunately I think the PC website/online shopping is terrible and I never bother looking at it anymore. If I want something I just ring them up. So did they have the die in stock at the shop? There is not much they don't have in that place. And I can't complain about their generousity
I've started working on my Stamp To Spend challenge. The concept is to make us more aware or accountable to ourselves about the spending we (or I *blush*) do on craft supplies and putting a monetary value on the items we make. I've started in a good month, I'll be playing along with some other challenges besides HYCCT and I'll be sending those cards to another card drive.
Jeeny, I was wondering if you venture over to the Southside and obviously you do. Have you ever heard about Southside Stamper Inc. They meet up just off Logan Road at Greenslopes, not that far from Photo Continental. I've made enquiries about becoming a member for next year. Not that I'll get much of an opportunity to attend any days but I know a bunch of people that go there and I want to be part of the collective social group. If you want to know more about them drop me a line and I'll get you a contact with them.
Theresa,no worries about rabbiting on ,it must be on your mind i am pretty sure it would be on mine. Never heard of SouthsideStampers,i will pm you .my son & his wife live near PC so we will be popping into to see them when they get home from work. I am taking SU stamps sets for her to look at plus do some stamping & embossing with her my voice is back all croaky so we can talk stamping & she can choose the set she wants as a christmas present.
Re stamp to spend since i have been a SU demo my spending is way down,no parceles from Amazon or SimonSays Stamps arriving every fortnight or trips to Craftonline.i am saving for my next qt sales requirement. I am with you when i realise how much i spent. Good luck with your challenge. I havent spoken to PC i might ring them in the morning before we head over there. Re gift bag i added my tag i made as my sister in law loves purple i just stamped a greeting on it looks great. Hope i can get TH tag die as i think i would love to have a stack of them for gifts & cards,i have 10 Manilla Foolscap Folders to cut up Cheers
