Any pointers, or can anyone point me to any threads/sections on here where that topic is covered?

What medium do you want to colour with? A dry medium (think pastels, chalks, pencils) or wet medium (think watercolouring, markers). I know nothing about alcohol markers except most recommend memento ink for stamping images for those.

With a dry medium you will be okay with using your dye inks (SU are dye inks). If you were to use a wet medium with dye inks, the image will run/smear. So your best bet there would be to use a stazon ink or heat emboss the image with powder.

The resource section has a few tuts on colouring. Gina K is another good source with videos. HTH.

Just finished making two cards. A 50th and a 21st, both for guys. The 50th one turned out alright, but I'm down right embarrassed about the 21st. I've got no time to make another and he probably wouldn't noticed the bad design anyway.

For the 50th I stamped a tortise with SU classic ink and watercoloured with distress inks. I wasn't worried about the dye bleeding. I was quick and any bleeding would just add to the aged effect anyway, lol.

I've been working on a few challenge cards today. I had today off work and it was hot, so I stayed indoors all day feeling very lazy.

Must go and check out your blog. I have been finishing up some swaps and some more roses, I have been selling them. Amazing. Gives me craft money.

Not too bad here today after a hot weekend, but it is to be very cool this week, I will be liking that!!

You roses are lovely. I've sold a few of mine as well. We should do a swap. Only if you want of course. I was making some at work the other week, when I was sitting at a road block, and we had three cars in eight hours. I knew it was going to be a quiet day so I went prepared.

I would love to swap with you. I only use the smallest 3 dies in the spellbinder set. PM your addy and I will send you a little box of them. Tell me your fav colours too.

I love your watercolour ones, they are fantastic!!! I will PM you my addy too. What a great suggestion, thanks.

Well, here I am back again after a terrible time with telstra getting a new internet connection because our last ISP decided that quality didn't matter with us where we are. telstra has the infrastructure, but the worst customer service on the planet... trust me.

So now that I am back we can all go awaltzing, aye? lol

I'll catch up on things over the next day or two and we can chat ... I've missed you all...

I dread to ever call Telstra up. My mobile phone service is rarely working properly these days. To ring and expect good service for the price we pay for these conveniences is an execrsise in futility. I had so much trouble with them last year, i was assigned a special hotline number to directly call one person who dealt with my issues.

Anyways we got you back for now and it didn't take you long to find us

Hey Karen, so pleased to see you back!!!

All the major players in the telecommunications industry are the same, no customer service.... We are with optus because at least we get mobile service which is necessary. They are pathetic!!

Its a pity when you have to toss up whether you want good coverage or good service isn't it.

Ha ha...

It would be great if it were a toss up but good service just doesn't seem to exist.

But don't mind me. I got told off by the CSO at the bank for questioning a fee then daring to try to suggest how the bank might improve things so I didn't have to call and ask what it was for EVERY month.

I was with my credit union for over 14 years and had parted with thousands of $$$ to them, when earlier this year they helped themselves to some money when I needed it to pay the specialist for my spinal condition and refused to give it back - even though they agreed they were not entitled to it. So I found a bank that did not do that. Oh, they aren't perfect, but if customer loyalty does not mean anything after such a long time the CU can put it where the sun don't shine.

Our local phone/internet company has excellent customer service. But we dont have our mobiles through them and I found out today they were bought by a WA company yesterday. But I'm hoping their customer service and product doesn't change. Every year they pop by the house, check on our satisfaction and offer us a new deal which usually costs us less and gives us more. This year we doubled our download capacity and the price reduced by $5. If I have a problem, I ring them, and they will talk me through everything.

Our mobiles are through 3, well vodaphone now I guess, and they have/had good customer service, but their working everywhere isn't the greatest.

I got the heads up at work last Friday that something was brewing in the background that would directly affect me (and others) working (or should I say not working) on site. Today the news/rumours/speculations were worse. We're told, back in the city, deals have been done, papers have been signed and media has reported a new contract agreement effective this Friday. No-one can tell us if we've got work to go to on Monday.

Just have to wait and see and hope for the best.

I must clarify. I'll still have a job since I'm still employed by my company. I just not sure if they'll have any work to send us to. Should the worse happen, I'll be okay til the New Year. I need to start thinkng about a Plan B and C.

Let's just hope that Europe settles down before Christmas and generates some confidence in the investment markets. Fingers crossed for all of us in the New Year.

I'm looking at having a nice relaxing Christmas. The rest of life and it's ups and downs will be put aside for that day.

My daughter has been invited to a friend's house on Christmas, and it looks like I may have a nice quiet day home by myself. This is quite a gift for me, these days, as the boys get older and more able to "express" themselves...lol.

My daughter finally got a job. She is going to be working for Harris Scarfe in MacArthur Square in Campbelltown. She applied for so many, and ones that looked really hopeful at the interview, were dying with the reference stage, and she couldn't work out why, anyhow, she changed her main reference and first time she applied she got the job. So the woman must have been sabotaging her when they rang. (No rude words on SCS).

She starts in about 2 weeks when the new store opens, and they are only seling limited lines, not their full stock and only on one floor. There were 2000 people applied for the job so I am very proud of her.

I am still waiting to have my operation, have to loose weight. Yeah, me loose weight...

I have done lots of cards, had my swaps back, and will start putting photos into my gallery next week. Have an inspection of home coming up and need to get the place a bit tidier and sorted for that. Then I can do more or less what I want till the school hols when I will be babysitter again. You would think I would be used to it by now...lol.

Theresa, hopefully there will be work available for you and you will not have to adopt Plan B or C.

Karen, what are you having an inspection of your house for?

Yes a nice quiet Christmas this year for my DH and myself. I like to stay home, hate being on the roads over the Christmas/New Year break. We will have time off between Christmas and New Year, so can get some things done, like cardmaking!!! I am looking forward to it.

Koffeekat, sorry your christmas has gone pearshaped. Happens in all families. can't live with them, can't live without them....

Yes, if only all landlords were as accommodating.

You must be good tennants as well and they seem to be tricky to come by.

We pay our rent every week and we keep the place reasonably tidy. It is a "rural" property and I have two horses here. they don't offer any maintenance or upkeep of the outside and the rest is touch and go. lol. It is a department of planning house and will be demolished one day. It is an extremely old house, and is getting to the point we are thinking about finding another place... but this cheap is hard to find...

Plans B and C? I'm always working on plan B, LOL. And when things start getting tricky thats when I need to start formulating a Plan C. Just. In. Case.

Told my work partner straight up that I didn't want to hear any rumours about our situation. I only wanted to hear the facts. So not much was said today. Another work partner from a different site came by and filled us in on what she was hearing. Still none the wiser.

She also told me about being worded up on possibly being sent out west for 'away' work. She said she will insist that I go with her. So she has already factored me into her Plan B.

Just have to wait and see what happeneds in the New Year for the long term prospects, and roll with the day to day changes as they happen until then.

My goal is to one day be a landlord. What makes a good landlord?

Congrats on your DD getting a good job Karen.

I only spend Christmas with those I actually care about. I'd sooner spend the day with my ex than with any of my siblings. Now that I think about it, we did have a pre-Christmas family gathering last year and he was there.

In a word, "Communication".
on my list would be keeping the house in good repair and the rent reasonable.

If you find a tennant that is keeping the house well and wants to stay, I reckon save the heartache and negotiate on the rent rises to keep them. Cheaper to lose $5/week in rent than to have the house trashed.

I hope you get some good news about your job soon Theresa, it must be hard for you with not knowing what is going to happen. We have had an upsetting last week. One of Tim's neices (35) who lives and works in
Alice Springs was murdered! She is a social worker with people with mental problems. The guy (Maori not indigenous) had mental problems and had gone off his medication! Her mother (Tim's sister) was holidaying in the U.S.A. at the time and so that made things harder. Tim and his brother have gone up to Alice for the funeral tomorrow. Jasmine actually shared a flat with this guy (not romantically liinked though) and a couple of days earlier he had smashed up her computer and mobile phone. She was advised to get out of the flat, but she said he had never been physically violent before and she would be OK. She was found with multiple stab wounds! You read of these things in the paper and think how terrible, but it doesn't really sink in till it's so close to home. Jasmine was single and had no kids who were left without a mother which is good. Anyway that's my awful news and why I haven't been around much. Hope it doesn't depress anyone.

Jan, that type of news hits you in the chest and leaves a huge empty space.

And anything I can say, just sounds feeble.

Oh wow Jan thats terrible news. Really really terrible. Your family must be reeling from this news.

I know this isn't as bad as your news since you are much closer to those concerned, but last week a couple of kids from my DDs school were killed in a car accident. The car was stolen and the kids were running amok and playing up, when it all went terribly wrong. What realy hit home for me was when they said the girl was 14. That could have been my girl a couple of years ago. I really feel for the parents as their DD didn't get to live thru her mistakes. And I thank fate that my DD was spared.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. All the best for the family.

Oh Jan, how awful. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers for a while. Just heal, we will still be here.

Jan that is terrible news for your family, so sad. I will be keeping your family in my prayers. As Karen said, take the time you need to heal, talk to us if you need to vent. We are here and are good listeners. Hugs.

Any pointers, or can anyone point me to any threads/sections on here where that topic is covered?

Thanks
Hi, I use stazon ink to stamp the image onto water colour paper and then use SU markers and the aqua painters to shade and colour. I find water colour paint works really well too.

Default Hi

Hi Everyone,

I am thrilled to find an Aussie chat thread. Great title!

I'm from SA and joined SCS earlier this year. I am a mum and housewife and have recently been introduced to the wonderful world of stamping. My bank balance has never been the same!

Just wanted to introduce myself and say "Hi".
