I think I'm going to go home a couple hours early today. I have 'schedule adjust' time from Wednesday night's training. I could save some vaca time tomorrow, but I feel so lazy today. I want OUT!
Is that in trade for working a few hours the other night??
Sounds MORE than fair to me.
GIT while the gittin's good!
She's right.
Tom calls it an emotional nexus.
They FEEL but they can't express. This happens at every age - heck, even some adults I know - and it's a matter of them trying to figure out what's going on in their world.
It's not easy to see them upset/sad. All you want to do is FIX it for them.
you're doing great
THANK YOU! That is so sweet of you to say!
I was tearing up on my way to drop him off this morning because I was sad about him changing so much. I need to buck up and deal with it!

Oh I'm right there with you!
I do it at least once a week when Kate isn't the way she "used" to be.
Thank goodness it's gradual changes or I'd be a bigger wreck.
I looke at pictures of just a few years ago...and tear up.
Tom reminded me "remember when she did this" and I get weepy thinking that person is gone.
She's turning out pretty great but it is a hard process.
Now I know how my mom felt all these years.

I guess I'm worried that he won't be sweet and snuggle with me anymore.
It is hard!
You do have a great child! You've done a great job too!

He will.
You may have to adjust you a little bit, though.
You can take a lesson from me.
When Kate started to drift away a little bit I found that the more I pushed for snuggle time (and that was just in the last year or so) the more she avoided it.
it's like she KNEW I wanted it and it was a game to her NOT to give it to me - little devil!
So I stopped asking and was just available to her when she wanted it and not when I wanted it.
I think you have years before that happens, though!!!!
Les, you know what else I do?
I make a point to ask Kate if she'd like to do something with me.
Or rather could I join her doing something.
She'll choose a bike ride/walk, a board game (this is a good one to get in the habit of early!).
That way we spend time together but it's something kind of on her terms.
Last night we all sat on the porch in the dark and watched the lightening.
She was a chatter box the entire time! Other times I can't get her to tell me anything.
We have a birthday party tomorrow night. Gage is staying with the in-laws. That's about all that's on deck for us. We'll probably go to our usual place tonight.
My mil and sil are planning a trip to the Mall of America in Minnesota. We have gone on a couple weekend trips to Birmingham to stay in a hotel that is attached to a mall in the past. That was nice because we could drive our car filled with clothes and shoes home.
My mil would like to see this mall. I like shopping, but I don't think I like it that much. Plus, I would have to pay for my own flight, split the cost of the room, and take a day off of work. That's a lot when I'd probably rather be home with the guys.
I told them that I would pass this time, but I did seriously consider it. Did I make the wrong decision?

I am inclined to say no. That seems like an awful lot of $$ to go shopping. Unless that's a trip you were really looking forward to.

No, this was the first that I'd heard of it, and they are going in a month. I could use an afternoon of shopping, but I don't think I'd like a whole weekend of it. Plus, it would be a pain to bring everything back if I did buy clothes or shoes.

I'm a big believer in trusting your gut.
If you weren't excited at the idea of it and have to talk yourself into it then you probably don't want to go.
I don't think it's the wrong decision to stay home w/ your boys
Leslie, we watched our boyfriend last weekend.
Tom has been wanting fried chicken and he wants to learn to cook it.
I noticed Tyler had a show all about it so I recorded it.
Tom likes to make fun of our cute boyfriend but he decided to try his recipe.
This weekend we need to go out and get 2 things - a spider strainer and something else I hope we remember when we get to the cooking supply store near here - and I guess he's making chicken.
I used a bit of hair spray this morning...I noticed it sprayed funny but didn't pay attention.
Now I have a few spots on my shirt.
Looks like I'm a slob!

Do you still have work to do there? Things to buy?
We're taking the bed down. Then it's pretty much done. Just a little decorating here and there. That will wait until next spring. I'm pretty sure this will be our last trip there this season.
My mom and her husband will winterize it when they go on their last trip the first of October. Then we'll go back over Memorial Day. I'll have all winter to find cute stuff!

Were you uncomfortable being with both guys at the same time?
It's really cute that he watched it and is following his recommendations!

Oops!
Since I've been getting up earlier I am kind of in a fog in the mornings. I've noticed that my hair will be totally messed up, and I haven't even known. I think it's from getting Gage in and out of the car seat.
Tonight we're going to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings and then to see the Drew Barrymore/Justin Long movie that's out now.
Tomorrow I have no plans during the day and tomorrow night we're going out for hibachi for a going away dinner for my friend Rachel, who's moving to Massachusetts on Sunday.
Sunday is football day so I'll either be on my couch, at Flipside, or both.

I don't think so. The mall's not going anywhere, so there can always be other trips. If you're not really into it, that's a lot of money to spend. So enjoy staying home with your boys!
I don't think I'd ever want to go there because I just don't like shopping that much and I'd be so overwhelmed by the sheer size of it!

Mmmm! I haven't had homemade fried chicken in years. T taught me how to make it and we'd have it almost once a week. But I haven't made it since I kicked him out. What's stopped me is that it's a pain to have to deal with disposing of the oil afterward.

That is EXACTLY what my issue is.
I know you can re-use it up to 3 (?) times or something but how do you get rid of it??

Morning LOSTies. Itching again today and I have that sensation in my chest. Have my allergist appt at 9 AM. Can't take anything for the itching because it will interfere with the testing.
I'm sorry you can't take anything for the itching.

T flushed it down the toilet once. I almost killed him. Oil bubbles were popping up for days. After I yelled at him for that, he started taking it outside and dumping it out. Not the most environmentally friendly option, I know, but that's what he did.
I'm not going to do that where I live, so I just don't ever fry anything!
