Hai guys! Hope everyone hada great weekend. Friday and Saturday was Yom Kippur (our holiest day of the year) and we went to Synagogue and I fasted and went to my boss' house Sat nite to break the fast. I broke out in hives again Friday night and looked lovely Fri and Sat at synagogue. I feel like a leper. They are almost gone today, but I am itching again so I know they aregetting ready to come out again
Yesterday we went apple picking with the synagogue. It was nice and we got a bag of assorted apples. I plan on making PW's apple dumplings and bring it into work tomorrow.
I am off again Thursday and Friday for yet another Jewish holiday (these are ones that I don't personally celebrate in my house, but it is nice to have the days off). I am FINALLY going to get my hair cut and colored on Thurs and I am having the Brazilian Blowout done again on Friday. I can't stand my hair anymore!!! It is a frizzy mess and this 90 degree heat isn't helping any.
How is everyone else oing?
what are you taking for the itching? Benadryl? Does it help any?
I can't believe they can't figure it out. Is it stress? LOTS going on with you these days...maybe you need some regular down time to chill!
mmm...dumplings! I want ice cream with those! it's just not the same w/o it.
I might have a bite or two
Jess- Alex is studying the US and they got assigned a state and have to make a float. He got Connecticut. He has to make a float and add to it famous people, colleges, athletic teams, monuments and interesting facts. Do you happen to have any info, post cards brochures or pamphlets at the university that he could use for his float?
Alys...I live about 5 miles from a CT tourist info center. I can pick some things up for you if you want.
I bet Jess could send you some Fairfield stuff!
The Coast Guard Academy is just down the road here, too.

Good afternoon/Evening LOSTies
We got home a while ago. Just relaxing with our feet up... catching up on some races from the weekend. Our trip was REALLY nice. We didn't do much of any work around the cabin. We hung out, visited with my family and cooked and shared meals. It was very enjoyable.

On my way home I got a call from work. I need to go in to work at 4am tomorrow morning. Gross! There's a big fire in our area. It's up in the hills and has burned at least 5 homes already.
They've got our Emergency Operations Center activated. I am going in early to let the person staying over from afternoons go home. It's no fun, but at least it's not 2 or 3am. Right?
I have no idea what I will be doing at that hour or if there will even been internet access in that area. You may or may not hear from me tomorrow. I better find a new book. I finished mine this weekend.
Does anyone else read the Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris? (Sookie Stackhouse author).

Hi kids! Thought I'd drag my wore out arse out to the island and say howdy. I have no idea when Ed's getting home tonight and no idea what we're having for supper, and right now I'm too tired to care.

YUK! I guess 4am is better than 2 or 3, but still.... I sure hope you have internet! I haven't read any of the Charlaine Harris books, but I did watch the first two episodes of First Blood yesterday. Not sure that's for me, but I do think I'll try the books.

I feel like I'm cheating for dinner. I froze the leftover chili we had last night. I brought it home in the cooler. It feels like take out since I didn't cook it here. No messy kitchen!

I was thinking that I might whip up some food and freeze it next weekend. That way I have some better stuff to eat and yet I don't have to cook every night. I'm going to try out some of my regular dishes and see how they freeze.

Suz, do you end up cooking two meals with all of your restrictions? Or is Ed managing to go along with your plan so far?
I cook a "normal" meal and just make adjustments for myself. Last week I made tacos for Ed and made a taco salad for myself. We had burgers one week and I had gluten-free bread instead of a bun. I figure that I have to learn to eat in a "real" environment, so I might as well cook as close to one as I can. I don't keep stuff in the house that will tempt me, like cookies or chips that I like. That's just too much! LOL! Today after all of my MIL's doctor appts we went to lunch and I ordered a burger w/out the bun. The waitress looked at me like I was strange, but I didn't care. I wanted the burger and fries, but I couldn't have the bread. I make adjustments where I can.

I am taking a prescription called xytol (or something like that...xy...). It hasn't helped. The hives are almost gone from my arms, chest, neck and face, but still a little on my stomach and a lot on my legs and it has spread to my feet. I was so itchy when I got home from work I scratched my legs and feet to pieces. I am coughing again and I don't think it is from the pleuricy. It could be stress, but I am not stressed now. I was a little in the beginning of the year worried about working with a new teacher (who as it turns out is so wonderful and she calls me every day to see how I am), getting licensure, having my mil visit, etc., but that all has already come and gone. I guess it could be after-the-fact and letting it all out now, I am not sure. I have talked to 5-6 people who have had these hives come and go for MONTHS and their Drs never found out what it was, so unfortunatley I am not very hopeful that they will ever find out what is causing this. All I know is I cannot take this for months and months, I will go insane!
ooooh, I am gonna have to buy some icecream now to go with the ones I am making at home. I hope the ones I take to work come out good. I already peeled and sliced and wrapped them because I won't have time to do all that in the morning. Tomorrow I will add the butter, sugar, cinnamon and mountain dew and bake it. I leave at 7:40 so that gives me EXACTLY 40 minutes to get it all done. And I have a 45 minute-hour drive so I hope they are still hot and yummy when I get there. Can't heat them up in the oven at the synagogue because the crescent rolls and mountain dew are not Kosher and they only allow stuff that is Kosher and baked in their kitchen to go in the ovens.

LMK if I can help.
ooooh Edie that would be GREAT!!! I forgot you were so close to CT and that we went together to Mystic Pizza and the lighthouse and all. I will have to have him put some of those pics on his float.

that's so nice. Glad you had a nice and relaxing weekend! How was the chili?

4 AM OY! Sad about the fires and those homes that were lost. Hope they can control it and it doesn't take any mroe homes or lives with it.
Ok I finally got a copy of Yankee magazine.
I've been looking around.
There's an article "75 things all New Englanders should do"
Sounds fun. Off to check it out.
I've had a busy day. And weekend. We had people come to look at the house on Saturday and Sunday. That was good, but the first people were 30 minutes earlier than we thought they would be and the second people were an hour and 10 minutes later than they said they'd be. So, it was chaotic! Hopefully someone will buy it sometime though!
Glad you had a nice visit w/ the neighbors.
Are these new people you've met since moving?
I enjoyed last week's show
No they are our old neighbors...the one with the little girl who was born 2 weeks before Jax. They lived one townhouse away from us. She actually has a 1 year old little girl now too.
Vampire Diaries was pretty good this week. I hope they keep Caroline around.
I still have that irritating feeling in my chest/rib cage area and I am coughing like crazy again. My mom seems to think it is either reflux or a hernea (of course she has had both-she is a mess and I seem to be following in her footsteps )
I've had a cough for several weeks now, and while I was at a church meeting tonight, one of the ladies said something interesting: her mom had had a cough for a long time, nothing was working & she had several dr's visists. The dr. finally figured out it was reflux. I'd never heard of such a thing!!
Aly - I am so sorry to hear that you broke out again and and are feeling it come on again. You poor thing. Did they mention anything about it being stress related? I used to (and occasionally it still happens) but not to the extreme that you seem to be having. But I would break out in a red rash/hives on my neck when I was nervous/stressing...and it would itch like all get out. I would itch it so much I would have this raw dry patch on my neck.
So maybe Edie is right? Some extra rest/downtime in your plans if possible?

It sounds like a lovely weekend!

Oh goodness. That is NOT something you want to come home to...especially after a vacation. HUGS! And prayers to the people who have lost their homes or are in danger of losing their homes.

Oh me too! me too! Thanks for the reminder. I was not going to watch since it seems just like "Flash Forward" which dumb ABC cancelled! Grrrr! And then they were promoting it like it was the new "LOST". UGH! Yeah right!
But during football last night I saw an extended preview and thought "ya got me! I will give it a shot" LOL!

I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with the hives.
Can you put your dumpings in an ice chest? I think you could warm up some trivets and wrap them in towels and put at the bottom of the ice chest. Maybe that would help keep them warm for the drive.

Unfortunately, I was tuning her out because she ALWAYS has something to say--even if it means talking over others or interrupting... I now wish I had paid closer attention.
