It's very interesting to look through. I wouldn't have spent $45 on it, but it was on sale at B&N plus I had my membership discount and a gift card so it was only $16 or something like that. I have it sitting on my coffee table and pick it up from time to time and browse through it. I'm thinking it will be great reference now that we're watching again!

They have it in Stop & Shop. Though it's a little cheaper at Trader Joe's if you can get there.

I can't really describe a taste, because it doesn't really have any on its own, kind of like rice. It takes on the flavor of the spices and other ingredients you put it with.

You cook it just like rice - 2 parts water to one part quinoa, and just boil it until the water is gone. Then you could add it to all kind of recipes. These are some of my favorites:

Love That Quinoa Burger!

The Way the Cookie Crumbles Blog Archive quinoa tabbouleh

Quinoa Taco Salad – Tasty Kitchen

There was another one that I loved that had tomatoes and feta cheese and some other good stuff in it, but I can't find the recipe.

Oh, and that one I posted on NQFB a couple of weeks ago, with the chicken and sweet potatoes, was good too.

While I should be working hard today, I've gotten sucked into this blog. This guy started it two years ago when he was 22 and weighed 358 lbs. He's now lost 120 lbs. and was featured on Yahoo, which is how I found out about him. He's pretty funny, and really inspirational, and really good looking (at both weights).

My sadness is hungry.

It wants regular cut (not shoestring cut) fair style french fries with the skins on them with vinegar and ketchup.

I've had quinoa pasta and I liked it a lot. Haven't had just regular quinoa yet though but I want to get some because I like making Melissas chicken for tacos and having it over rice. I'd like to try it with quinoa.

I wonder if you could replace the rice in that Italian chicken bake recipe that Maggie gave us. I wonder how much more cooking would be required to get it tender?

*sigh*

I don't think I'm ever going to be able to wear jeans from the Gap again. According to my measurements I can fit into them, but according to the way they are cut these days my extra belly fat/skin would look like, well, there probably just aren't words to do it justice. It certainly wouldn't be pleasant. At all. I was looking forward to buying at least one pair just to say I could.

I decided to take my measurements and see how much they've changed. I've lost approximately 24" overall! I didn't take my measurements in May when I was at my largest, but I did at some point in time over the summer, so I consider that my starting point. I should pull out the swimsuit I bought in May and try it on.
That is AWESOME Suz!!!!

It is similar to rice in taste, but with a green flavor...not sure how to describe.

It is small round soft grains sort of like cous cous, but with a little pop.

I eat it like rice with soy sauce or in a cold salad...I made one with Tomatoes, basil, Salami, fresh mozzarella and Blasamic Vinegar..MMmmmmmm

HI again!

Just read back a bit. Let me try to respond:

Suz - WOO HOO! You are rocking with the weight loss! I am so happy for you! Keep it up girlfriend!

Leslie - So glad you have thought about the house some more and feel that maybe it just isn't the one. I was going to say last night, that when Rich and I were looking, there was this house, I swear it was THE HOUSE. Like I walked into it and just felt I was "home". It was what I had always wanted...the entry way and the layout and number of rooms. I was so in love with it...but, gosh, if we had gone with that one (which was a little bit further than we would have liked to have been and a little more expensive), I think I wouldn't be as happy. Because 1) it didn't have a pool (which was what I was wanting) and 2) it didn't have a loft (it had a den to make up for it which was ok though). And the yard wasn't already fenced it.
I can't imagine us not having the house we ended up in. So it really does all fall into place.

Edie and Tracy and Les - I am caught up on Greys. And I called it at the beginning of the episode. Said it out loud and BAM, I was right. But I am wondering how it is all gonna play out. BOO if it messes stuff up.

Tracy - Ick on having to count your carbs. It's hard when you have to count anything when eating, because yeah, it basically just feels like a diet. Ya for you being able to eat all the vegetables you want, though! LOL!

Ok...Jax is over playing at the neighbor's house. So I need to take advantage of the quiet time I have.

Must make some cards.

Oh and I wanted your opinions on something regarding little Miss Beenie Baby. WOO HOO! She is a MISS! It is a SHE! Yay! Anyway, sorry can't stop smiling about that.

So, back when we had Jax, we knew he was going to be a boy. So I would say that 95% of the baby stuff we got is "boy-ish." Not the bouncers, swings, car seats, etc.

But all the blankets are blue or have sports/boy themed stuff on them, washclothes, bibs, bottles, sippy cups.

Would it be bad of me to register for a few "girly" items and have like a mini-shower? I believe they are calling them "Sprinkles". Is it horrible of me to throw something like that for myself? What are your honest opinions. It's just that all of that stuff adds up, and since I know we will be getting some baby gifts, why not try to let them know what we need?

I dunno. ??? Please discuss.

I'm going to ***** slap someone if people don't stop arguing with me today. Quit your damn whining and do what I tell you. It's federal legislation we are complying with. Call your congressman if you don't like it, don't argue with me.

Job rant, sorry. Ugh I just hate when they start whining! But this but that blah blah! Just shut up and do it.

OK. Home from work...I have a lot of thoughts on the first two episodes.
I took notes when I watched so I'm just going to post them here...

Season 1 Episode 1 & 2:

"You need to srsly think about giving that license back" LOL Love Jack

"dude I'm not going anywhere" Hurley...Gosh I love you!

Interesting that the opening scenes focus so heavily on Jack, Hurley and Claire.

When did Sawyer stop smoking????

Did anyone notice when jack was laying on the ground at the beginning he was moving his fingers...now I wonder if he was counting to five!

Interesting that kate's first interaction is telling jack "I would have run for the door" and he already believes in her.

Boone offers Shannon an Apollo candy bar!

Why do you suppose that the MIB chose to stalk the tree line that first night? He had to have known that there were ppl out there who might be able to "help" him.

Rose said "That sound I keep thinking there was something familiar about it" I wonder if that had relevance

Kinda felt a little bad for Locke when he smiled w/ the orange and scared Kate...he kinda looked pitiful

Charlie just makes me smile.

Maybe the MIB was just trying to keep them out of the jungle to keep them away from Jacob

I'm fine. Charlies fine btw...

not a single instance of numbers in the first episode!

how did boone and shannon from so near the first class make it to the beach????

also...how did Cindy end up in the tail section of the plane, if she was near the cockpit chasing Charlie?

Jin really was a giant ***

Sawyer's first nickname: Lardo...followed up quickly by Doc.

I guess I didn't remember they climbed straight up the mountain side LOL

Love the description of backgammon in the friggin pilot. dude, totally just proves that Darlton had a plan from the very beginning. "Two players, two sides...one is light and one is dark" and wasn't it totally convenient that it was WALT talking to LOCKE...is it just me or that light and dark seem...very...tangible by using them to play it out???

Got a little teary when Aaron finally moved! Guess he likes sushi eh???

Jess~ The stuff on the island really happened. Only the Season 6 sideways stuff was the world they created to re-meet.

So Locke and Rose, they were really healed.

It was crazy to see how young and cleaned up they were compared to the end.

It was also really interesting to see the "monster" in the jungle now that we know what (or who) it is. Back then I would never have dreamed what it would turn out to be! And the whole Backgammon game too...one light, one dark...anyone who says that the writers didn't know what they were doing from the beginning is clearly nuts!

I sort of forget what an arse Jin was (though he was very good looking with the short hair) and how mean Sawyer was too. And oh my gosh, I can't stand Shannon any better the second time around!
I agree, everyone looks younger and fresher in the beginning.

I too ha forgotten what an arse Jin was and what a bad arse Sawyer was in the beginning. (Sawyer is still a hottie though )

I too thought of the smoke monster in a different light now that we know who and what it was/is. It also got me thinking why he chose the pilot and the people he kid to kill. I know he was judging them and the whole redemption thing, but we didn't know anything about the pilot and his story and why he was taken by the smoke monster.

I also thought about the backgamin game and Locke's words about the whole black and white thing and thought "These writers knew all along what they were doing". It is just so amazing all the details they remembered and how they were able to tie everything together. The opening scene with Jack laying bleeding in the jungle and Vincent coming to him to the very last scene where he is laying in the jungle and Vincent comes over to him and lays down next to him.

Down day. I'm starving. I think I'm going to have scrambled eggs for supper. I think I can have 6 w/ the calories I have left. Hopefully with the protein in them it will keep me full for the rest of the night!

Suz, congrats on the pants! But sorry about the other jeans. I loved Levi 501 buttonfly jeans until I had kids now my body is too different to wear them no matter what size I buy!
