We watched the game. I haven't been feeling that great so I spent most of the day on the couch.

My Cricut cartridge came from the Cricut Rewards today!!

It had a 90 point certificate inside too. But I only have 950 points now and that won't be enough to get anything good when they add more/different cartridges.

They used to have a lot to choose from. Maybe next year I'll remember to check what they have! LOL

I'll put that on my list of "to read."

I feel like I accomplished something yesterday! I used three layouts from swaps!

I've been reading Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series. I'm on book 6 and I've never laughed so much as I have while reading these books. If you're not familiar with them they're about a young lady who can't help but shop and go into debt and all the funny crazy things she does to try and "avoid" it all. She discards her bills hoping someone else will accidentally pay them, avoids the collection calls, sends outrageous letters of illnesses and injuries to the banks, she even asks the credit card companies to change the wording on her joint statement to show as "Gas bill" instead of "Prada New York" to avoid tension and arguments at home.

Pia, ugh, that sucks that Lucas got sick. I hope he is the last one to get it. Are you feeling better?

Whoot whoot! Glad your new carts arrived.

Beth, I read the one where she went to Manhattan. Is that the second book? I haven't read any of the others. It was a funny, easy read book. I usually read suspense, thrillers, horror. I recently read Stephen King's 11/22/1963. Not one of his scary books (if your not into horror) but it was a good book.

I love those books Beth-great for a laugh. I took a few books out of the library last night we will see.

I am on the storm track. I might get more than Beth!

DH finally has another interview. It is a phone interview but it is good first step. Please send positive thoughts our way!

Sending positive vibes and thoughts your way! I hope the phone interview leads to an in-person interview!

It's snowing here now. It started around 11. Might get up to 8". That's the most we've gotten at once this winter. Every time it's snows it was only 2" or " inches.

I hope you and Beth don't get slammed too badly.

I hope we don't get slammed too badly. Every time it snows heavy we lose power. We're in the 10" - 16" zone.

I tried reading Steven Kings It when it first came out and I just couldn't make it past the first chapter. I do love Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell though.
I read a lot. If any of you haven't read them already you should really read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. They're hysterical!!

Pia sending good vibes and keeping fingers crossed....I hope the interview goes well and works out for husband.

I can understand that. The news just said estimates for snow in Boston tomorrow is 26.3"!

Kailtyn's bus was 45 minutes late today because of the snow.

My son and his girlfriend got into an argument last night and she said she was done and wasn't coming home then today she texted me and asked me to meet her at the apartment so she could get some clothes and her bathroom stuff and when I got there she moved out completely.
I don't know who's sadder.....them or me. With her living with my son I didn't worry about him too much but now I don't know what's going to happen. I hope he doesn't get depressed and start missing work and lose his job.

My son just turned 20 in December and she is 19. I think her mom had a lot to do with it. She didn't seem like she wanted to move today but her stepdad was making her take everything they could in that trip. She just sent a text to my son saying she didn't want to leave and he told her she could come back but she said it was too late and they fight too much. The argument wasn't anything significant.....just arguing for the sake of arguing I think. He got upset because she lets everyone walk all over her and tell her what to do and she took offense and it went south from there.

But case in point.....she didn't want to leave but she let her stepdad move her out of their apartment while my son was at work (she asked me to meet her there).

Well they are still young. At least he can tell you what happened. Maybe they can work it out and just need to not be living together right now. Get some space but still date etc.

Sounds like he was trying to help her but obviously she took it the wrong way and yep, exactly what he was trying to tell her happened. Maybe he needs to word it differently and tell her he was trying to help her become a stronger person or he gets hurt when he sees people treat her that way.

We did okay, I managed to get to work today. The boys have no school, but oldest does. The sidewalks are not cleared yet so no school. How many kids actually walk, very few I imagine! I am not a happy camper, this puts us to the Monday or Tuesday after Father's day for the last day! We usually get out earlier than everyone else and we take a mini vacation when everyone else is still in school

I am surprised the sidewalks aren't cleared. I guess it was the weekend and didn't want to pay anyone OT.

That sucks.

In VA they started adding extra time to the school day to make up for too many snow days. One year they shorted Spring break by two days and people were not happy so then they started adding 15 minutes to the school day to make up for it. The year we had snowmageddon, the kids wouldn't have had a spring break and would have had extra days at the end of the year if they didn't do that.

We'll see what happens. Some years we don't use snow days. This year the governor really made them call school on Friday. It didn't really start to snow til 2. I started at noon but it was light. Oh well, life goes on. We are all safe and never lost power so that is good.

Well I need to vent.....my sons boss fired him today. He gave David a "sweep test" (sweep the shop floor starting in this corner etc) and he thought David didn't show any motivation and lacked good work ethics so he fired him.
Yet, everything else he did was good (precision machining steel parts) but he couldn't sweep good.
This was told to me when I called inquiring about the college course they just enrolled David in and paid for to make sure we didn't have to reimburse them for it (we don't and David can finish the class). I wanted to know why he was fired, if he wasn't doing his job etc and just didn't tell me. Very unhappy. He's so depressed right now it isn't funny and this was the only thing he looked forward to.

That boss sounds like a huge jerk-off. If he is good a maching parts, which is probably the important part, then why not just have a talk with him about it. Explain he needs to do a good job with everything, even the menial tasks.

That is just wrong.

Yes he is a jerk and everyone in the plant knows it and agrees. The man I spoke with in the home plant was gobsmacked when I told him David was fired today and told me that the owner John is "extremely hot-headed" and "flies off the handle" and told me that there were no issues with David or his work performance until John asked him to sweep the shop floor while everyone was on the floor working. Then he dragged David around the shop in front of the entire staff berating him and his sweeping skills and told him he was fired and to get his crap and get out.

It sounds like upper management has a problem and this guy needs to be the one that is disciplined. Words gets around and it will be hard to hire people. Plus when there is a bad boss, people eventually start leaving when they can find a better place.

It really is. He was so proud and excited about this job. He was doing good and just started school two weeks ago and was excited because he already knew most of it, now this happens.
His self-esteem is in the toilet now. I looked in the classified from the Sunday paper and there's literally like 5 jobs posted. He was ony at the company since November so I don't think he will qualify for unemployment.

Ugh, that's even worse he's the owner. Is there any place else that does machining parts? He can always call places and ask if they might be hiring.

Yes....there are several nearby that we'll start looking into.
This company has had a sign out front of there building for years so I figured "wow, they must really need machinists or be really busy all the time" but most likely it's because he's a jerk to his employees and they either quit or he fires them for no valid reason.

I'll start pushing David next week to get out and look but right now he's too depressed and just wants to hang out in his apartment.
