Mac's insulin pump broke yesterday and it was a very rough day for him full of needles every couple hours at the least. We got in to see his dr and get the paperwork started for a new one. By 6pm we had a loaner at our house! Such a blessing!
It's snowing and cold today But I'm thankful that I have a warm house to hide in!

Big hugs!!

YIKES on the pump breaking!! I'm glad you got the loaner by last night though. Relax under a nice warm blanket today with a cuppa. You deserve it.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Jenn - hope you're enjoying your Thanksgiving weekend! Hope Mac is back on track with the pump and feeling better. I love your tattoo! It's gorgeous!

Pam -same here - the weekends are just too short and the work weeks are too long!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Howdy!

Paulette! Good to see you. How are you? How is your mom? I thought of you at CrossFit this morning. I told my friend to kill the hill on our sprint.

Jenn, did you all have a good Thanksgiving?

Samantha, how is AJ?

My brain needs an afternoon caffeine boost. My neighbor recommended marshmallow vodka and limeade. It is like key lime pie. What other random info can I give you?

My laptop needs to go to the shop. I am stuck with my phone, but that is okay.

HAPPY MONDAY!
Here we are-another week under our belts and another Monday... tell me, here has the time gone? It just keeps going and going and going.
This week will be one month since my boss left... no word on a replacement.
This weekend was Homecoming or DS. Ackkk.. his last one. Ackkk.
Next year when Homecoming rolls around, it will be PiePie attending - OMG.
So - I'm old.
I want to plan a nice family vacation for March - any suggestions?

Ok - back to work/non-work.
LOL

Hi all!

I'm up at this ungodly hour, getting ready to leave for the church. We meet at 2am, drive to another church to pick up more team members, then fly to Dulles. From there to Toronto and then Addis Ababa! We return on the 26th! I'm looking forward to telling you guys all about it!

Hello all! I'm a bit under the weather -- some silly fall cold thingy...blech. The crazy secretary in our department gave her notice last week. They've been getting rid of positions through attrition at the hospital, but my boss is assuring us that they will replace her -- I REALLY REALLY hope so, because if not, I don't know how we're all going to manage it.

Other than that - status quo around here...kids are good, house is good, parents are good, etc. {{{HUGS}}} all around!

Happy Wednesday!

I'm starting vacation today - YAY! I'll be heading out in little bit for the airport. I'm going to visit Dawn, Bart and Windsor for a few days. The last part of vacation will be getting some projects done around the house that I've been putting off.

I hope that all of you have a great week! Love and hugs all across PSFland!

Hey all! It's been a busy weekend - getting ready for Sandy to come visit...Honestly wish it were OUR Sandy...but no, it's the ugly one that will bring lots of rain and wind. School is cancelled already tomorrow and Tuesday... hoping this thing hits land and fizzles out, and all this hype turns out to be just that...hype.

Wishing everyone a great start to the week!

Enjoy your trip Pam! How fun. Tell Dawn we all said hello!

We are gearing up for Sandy, too. Raining now. Hoping it isn't as bad as being said. But, as prepared as we are going to get. We have firewood. So, heat won't be too much of a problem. However, no electronic devices and four kids.....three boys! That will be a challenge. But, they have been playing star wars all day....and that doesn't require any electricity, so we may be preparing in other ways too!!! Stay safe all in the path of this storm. It will affect many PSF's, right? There are lots along the East Coast, if I remember correctly. Rebecca could be getting off the easiest!

yeah - MTA suspended service tonight - I was kind of surprised by that. The kids are a little freaked out, because it's ALL OVER the TV... Hope S stays safe -- and everyone else that will be affected as well!!

Happy Monday!!
I've been thinking of you all a lot lately and now with the hurricane, thinking has gone into overtime.
How was everyone's weekend? What's everyone been up to? We've been just busy as usual. Yesterday we went to a bonfire/hayride with scouts and froze our little hineys off but it was fun.
Today I'm running to the store, prepping for the class Halloween party, and making a meal for joeys teacher. Her husband had a stroke a few months ago so everyone has been doing meal rotations.
Well, time to start the 'morning thing'....
Hope everyone is safe and sound!
Hugs and love,

Good morning!

Praying that everyone is safe!

I taught a doula training this past weekend and the one before, a great group of women. It was challenging with 19 women, but great! I am hoping to get a ton of stuff done this week~I do have a client due anytime.

I started to knit! Not very well, but I'm working on a scarf. Hopefully I will be done before spring

I hope everyone has a great day and stays safe! Big hugs!

Good morning! I saw on FB that the PSFs have fared pretty well through the storms. I'm so very grateful!

I got home Sunday from a wonderful visit with Dawn and Bart. They are such great hosts and I am totally in love with Windsor. He's so sweet. I have no doubt that I ate more in those four days than I have in the last four weeks. Kansas has some GOOD food! On Friday evening, her friend that taught her to knit, came over for a few hours and taught me.

Sophie didn't do so well with me being gone so long. Dee kept them Sunday night so that she could groom them yesterday, but she called in the morning to say that she thought Sophie needed to see the vet. So, $348 later, the vet thinks that she was just overly stressed with me being away longer than normal and then taking her in to groom her just kind of was the last straw. She gave her meds for the poo-poo issues, gave her a treatment of some sort because she was dehydrated, ointment for her little behind because it was so irritated and is on a bland diet for a few days. TMI ???? Thankfully, she seems to be better this morning.

Okay girlies, I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that I am thinking of you. Sending love and hugs to all of you.

I was popping in real quick to hear how our east coast girls were doing after the frankenstorm. I never thought to check FB, so thank you Pam for the update! I'm grateful too!
Sorry about Sophie. Poor girl. Glad to hear she is on the mend.
Totally cool that you and Jenn are learning to knit ( any others?). That's something I've always wished I knew how to do. One day. Okay gotta run...
Hugs and love to all.

Hi ya girls -- thought I'd check in here. We're fine, still without power, but are making do. We have a generator, so we aren't completely in the dark -- just that the extra gasoline isn't really in the budget -- but -- we're all SAFE, WARM, and not hurt or homeless, so.... NOT COMPLAINING!

Mom and Dad and my brother got their power back yesterday, so I'm glad. Mom and Dad don't have a generator (well, they do, but it's a week out from the propane company coming to hook it up ) so I'm glad they got their power back. Dad is stubborn and doesn't like to not stay at home at night. They aren't 30 anymore camping in the dark and cold, but I get it.

Anyhoo -- that's what's going on in this neck of the woods, hope everyone is doing ok!!!

Pam - keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers, I just got the e-mail this morning. Lots of love to you! xoxoxo

Just checking in to see how everyone's fared from Frankenstorm. Glad to see all PSF's came through it well. My nephew's house lost siding & the street flooded, but they also fared well. Thank goodness for the power of prayer!!!

Pam - hope Sophie is doing better today. Poor little thing. Give her a hug from me please.

We're still migraine city out here, now just adding the cold/flu stuff to the migraines.

Howdy! Attempting to get AJ to take a nap. Always a battle. He only wants to sleep on me and instantly wakes up if you put him down. Not sure how his grandparents will deal. I return to work next Monday the 12th.

Pam - poor Sophie. That happened to Amoenus when I had AJ. Came home from the hospital to find her entire backside covered in poop. Thankfully our pleads to a groomer worked and they bathed and shaved her. Pumpkin and a chicken/rice diet usually works well.

So glad everyone made it thru the storm. Hoping Tracey gets power soon.

We got power back at around 5pm my time last night. Which is great, since the estimate was as far out as Tuesday night. Quite thankful. The daycamp the girls go to is a drop off for needed items for the people in Staten Island, Long Island, and Breezy Point, so I'm going to collect some things, and bring them over there tomorrow.

Good Morning!

Tracey, woohoo power! ((( hugs))).

Pam, I hope Sophie is feeling better. I'm glad you had a nice visit.

Paulette, how is your mom doing? Are you holding up okay?

I have more. I have to do a bunch of stuff though. The magnet pulling me to the screen is strong... Must pull myself away. Have a good day!

Hi, Laura! I have tried to post here a couple of times, but it's gone *poof* and just disappeared!

We are well here. We didn't lose power, just lost some siding and shingles off the roof. Easily repaired.

My mom is well. It depends on the week. The peaks and valleys of her overall declining health are hard for us all. The role reversal of me being the parent/caretaker and her being the "child" is also hard on us all, but we just do what we need to do. I could do without my siblings and their whining and self-centeredness, but it's fine. I could also do without the holidays - mostly because of my siblings and their drama.

I'm trying not to whine - things really are good here. It could definitely be a whole lot worse, so we're thankful for how easy/good we have things.

I was so happy to read on FB when you got your power back. Hoping things improve for SI, LI and NJ quickly. I really feel for the people who are still without homes, water, power, etc.

I know - it truly is a MESS down there. It breaks my heart every time I watch the news. I know it's going to be a LOOOOONG time coming for all of them, but I hope they can start to rebuild and get some sense of normalcy soon!! I really am so thankful that we were only without power for 6 days, it could have been WAY worse. A town nearby had 2 families lose children. They were playing together in a house, and a huge oak tree fell on the house, and the kids... just AWFUL.

As for you, sending you big {{{HUGS}}} just because - I hope the siblings get their act together, and quit their whining. Don't let them ruin the holidays for you!

Laura - thanks for the {{{HUGS}}} It felt good yesterday, to have our normal routine, though both girls were in rare form by bed time...hopefully today shall be better! *I* was asleep by 9:30 which is VERY uncommon, I think I was catching up from all of the sleepless nights last week.

Here's a story for you guys... my neighbor has 4 boys (10 and under) and like us, were without power, though they do NOT have a generator. On Saturday morning -- DH says to me "I have this extra generator in the back of my van...and I found a plug end I can use -- let's call M & A and ask them if they want us to hook them up. I'll get the heat and water turned on. I'll have to take it back when I go to work Monday -- but at least this will get them through the weekend." So I call, and M was so appreciative. So DH headed over to the house with the generator, and hooked it up. I walked over with the girls, and they were running around with the boys, and I was talking with M in the kitchen. They started the generator, turned on the boiler, and the well pump. M and I were like "I smell exhaust! -- you need to move the generator farther away from the house!"...so they did...but we were like "I still smell it, STRONG" we went outside - and made sure all of the kids were outside. we look up at the chimney, and the smoke coming out of it didn't look right. They looked at the boiler again and found that their chimney pipe had completely crumbled...it's no wonder we smelled exhaust in the kitchen, the boiler was venting into the house, instead of the chimney. If the power had come back on in the middle of the night -- they all could have been killed.

They have Carbon Monoxide detectors, but I always worry that they won't work. What we think happened is the chimney pipe had already been weakened -- and with the wind the way it was, it could have blown down the chimney and blew out the pipe, after power was already out...

I still get goosebumps thinking about the whole thing. They say, everything happens for a reason, right??

Good Morning!

Oh my word, Tracey! I am so thankful Nick was going to hook them up, and you all figured that out quickly. Good to hear some things are returning to normal. (((hugs)))

That Nor'easter needs to fizzle out or head east...like Ireland. That is north and east.

Paulette, you didn't sound whiny at all. I am glad to hear you are doing okay. I'm sorry your siblings are stress heapers and not stress relievers. Love you.

I am off to get ready for CrossFit. Have a good one!
